`Similar' coordinate systems and the Roche geometry. Application
A new equivalence relation, named relation of 'similarity' is defined and
applied in the restricted three-body problem. Using this relation, a new class
of trajectories (named 'similar' trajectories) are obtained; they have the
theoretical role to give us new details in the restricted three-body problem.
The 'similar' coordinate systems allow us in addition to obtain a unitary and
an elegant demonstration of some analytical relations in the Roche geometry. As
an example, some analytical relations published in Astrophysical Journal by

Evaluación comparativa de la composición química y las actividades antimicrobianas de los aceites esenciales extraídos de diferentes quimiotipos de Cinnamomum camphora (L.) Presl
The purpose of this study is to determine the chemical composition of the essential oils of Cinnamomum camphora (L.) Presl leaves (CCPL) from 5 different habitats in China by GC-MS, and to evaluate their antimicrobial activities against 3 foodborne pathogens, using a paper disc diffusion method. A total of 30 compounds were identified with a predominance of oxygenated monoterpenes, including linalool (42.65%-96.47%), eucalyptol (39.07%-55.35%) and camphor (26.08%) as well as monoterpene hydrocarbons such as sabinene (6.18%-12.93%) and α-terpineol (8.19%-13.81%). Through cluster analysis, CCPL from 5 different habitats can be well divided into 2 categories. Combining with principal component analysis, the habitats can be better correlated with the chemical constituents of the essential oils. The antimicrobial activities of 5 extracted essential oils against 2 gram-negative bacteria and one gram-positive bacteria were assessed. It showed that the essential oil extracted from the CCPL harvested in Jinxi had the strongest antibacterial property. The results of this study provided basis for resource identification of CCPL and quality difference identification of essential oils. Research on the antibacterial properties of several pathogenic strains has proved its application value as a natural food preservative.El objetivo de este estudio es determinar la composición química de los aceites esenciales de hojas de Cinnamomum camphora (L.) Presl (CCPL) de 5 hábitats diferentes de China mediante GC-MS, y evaluar sus actividades antimicrobianas contra 3 patógenos transmitidos por los alimentos, utilizando un método de difusión de disco de papel. Se identificaron un total de 30 compuestos, con predominio de monoterpenos oxigenados, entre ellos linalol (42,65%-96,47%), eucaliptol (39,07%-55,35%) y alcanfor (26,08%) así como hidrocarburos monoterpenos como el sabineno (6,18%-12,93%) y α-terpineol (8,19%-13,81%). A través del análisis de conglomerados, los CCPL de 5 hábitats diferentes se pueden dividir bien en 2 categorías. En combinación con el análisis de componentes principales, los hábitats se pueden correlacionar mejor con los componentes químicos de los aceites esenciales. Se evaluaron las actividades antimicrobianas de 5 aceites esenciales extraídos contra 2 bacterias gramnegativas y una bacteria grampositiva. Se demuestra que el aceite esencial extraído del CCPL cosechado en Jinxi tenía la propiedad antibacteriana más fuerte. Los resultados de este estudio proporcionaron la base para la identificación de recursos de CCPL y la identificación de diferencias de calidad de los aceites esenciales. La investigación sobre las propiedades antibacterianas de varias cepas patógenas ha demostrado su valor de aplicación como conservante natural de alimentos
Effect of Intensity Modulator Extinction on Practical Quantum Key Distribution System
We study how the imperfection of intensity modulator effects on the security
of a practical quantum key distribution system. The extinction ratio of the
realistic intensity modulator is considered in our security analysis. We show
that the secret key rate increases, under the practical assumption that the
indeterminable noise introduced by the imperfect intensity modulator can not be

Runaway Events Dominate the Heavy Tail of Citation Distributions
Statistical distributions with heavy tails are ubiquitous in natural and
social phenomena. Since the entries in heavy tail have disproportional
significance, the knowledge of its exact shape is very important. Citations of
scientific papers form one of the best-known heavy tail distributions. Even in
this case there is a considerable debate whether citation distribution follows
the log-normal or power-law fit. The goal of our study is to solve this debate
by measuring citation distribution for a very large and homogeneous data. We
measured citation distribution for 418,438 Physics papers published in
1980-1989 and cited by 2008. While the log-normal fit deviates too strong from
the data, the discrete power-law function with the exponent does
better and fits 99.955% of the data. However, the extreme tail of the
distribution deviates upward even from the power-law fit and exhibits a
dramatic "runaway" behavior. The onset of the runaway regime is revealed
macroscopically as the paper garners 1000-1500 citations, however the
microscopic measurements of autocorrelation in citation rates are able to
predict this behavior in advance.Comment: 6 pages, 5 Figure
Zitterbewegung in External Magnetic Field: Classic versus Quantum Approach
We investigate variations of the Zitterbewegung frequency of electron due to
an external static and uniform magnetic field employing the expectation value
quantum approach, and compare our results with the classical model of spinning
particles. We demonstrate that these two so far compatible approaches are not
in agreement in the presence of an external uniform static magnetic field, in
which the classical approach breaks the usual symmetry of free particles and
antiparticles states, i.e. it leads to CP violation. Hence, regarding the
Zitterbewegung frequency of electron, the classical approach in the presence of
an external magnetic field is unlikely to correctly describe the spin of
electron, while the quantum approach does, as expected. We also show that the
results obtained via the expectation value are in close agreement with the
quantum approach of the Heisenberg picture derived in the literature. However,
the method we use is capable of being compared with the classical approach
regarding the spin aspects. The classical interpretation of spin produced by
the altered Zitterbewegung frequency, in the presence of an external magnetic

Dilepton production from p-p to Ca-Ca at the Bevalac
The DLS collaboration has recently completed a high statistics study of dilepton production at the Bevalac. In particular, we have measured dielectrons (e+e-) from p-p and p-d collisions to understand the basic dilepton production mechanisms in the energy range from 1.05 - 4.9 GeV. These data can be used to determine the basic processes which contribute to nucleon-nucleon dilepton production such as hadronic bremsstrahlung, vector meson processes, and hadronic Dalitz decay. The data show that a simple elastic bremsstrahlung calculation is insufficient to explain the data. Theoretical models are compared with the data. A new high statistics study of Ca-Ca at 1.05 A GeV has been made to study the collectivity of A-A collisions
Search for Single Top Production at LEP
Single top production in e+e- annihilations is searched for in data collected
by the L3 detector at centre-of-mass energies from 189 to 209 GeV,
corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 634 pb-1. Investigating
hadronic and semileptonic top decays, no evidence of single top production at
LEP is obtained and upper limits on the single top cross section as a function
of the centre-of-mass energy are derived. Limits on possible anomalous
couplings, as well as on the scale of contact interactions responsible for
single top production are determined
Associated Links Among Smoking, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Pooled Analysis in the International Lung Cancer Consortium.
Background
The high relapse and mortality rate of small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) fuels the need for epidemiologic study to aid in its prevention.
Methods
We included 24 studies from the ILCCO collaboration. Random-effects panel logistic regression and cubic spline regression were used to estimate the effects of smoking behaviors on SCLC risk and explore their non-linearity. Further, we explored whether the risk of smoking on SCLC was mediated through COPD.
Findings
Significant dose–response relationships of SCLC risk were observed for all quantitative smoking variables. Smoking pack-years were associated with a sharper increase of SCLC risk for pack-years ranged 0 to approximately 50. The former smokers with longer cessation showed a 43%quit_for_5–9 years to 89%quit_for_≥ 20 years declined SCLC risk vs. subjects who had quit smoking < 5 years. Compared with non-COPD subjects, smoking behaviors showed a significantly higher effect on SCLC risk among COPD subjects, and further, COPD patients showed a 1.86-fold higher risk of SCLC. Furthermore, smoking behaviors on SCLC risk were significantly mediated through COPD which accounted for 0.70% to 7.55% of total effects.
Interpretation
This is the largest pooling study that provides improved understanding of smoking on SCLC, and further demonstrates a causal pathway through COPD that warrants further experimental study.
