    Calidad de vida relacionada con la salud oral en adultos con rehabilitación protésica removible.

    The evaluation of the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) is important for clinical assessment and could be an indicator of the quality of the treatment received. Objective: To evaluate the OHRQoL in adults with removable prostheses in relation with patient characteristics such as age, sex, type and time of use of the prosthesis, previous experience and perception about the stability of the prosthesis. Materials and Methods: 217 patients from the Dental Clinic of the National University of San Marcos-Peru were evaluated after rehabilitation with a removable prosthesis. A structured questionnaire was applied by telephone interview. The evaluation of the OHRQoL was carried out using the General/Geriatric Oral Health Evaluation Index (GOHAI). For the statistical analysis, the Mann Whitney U test, the Kruskal-Wallis H test and the Spearman correlation were used. Results: The sample included 63 men (29%) and 154 women (71%) with an average age of 66.34. The average GOHAI score was 52.44+8.15. The GOHAI score was related to age (p=0.241), sex (p=0.110), type of prosthesis (p=0.069), previous experience (p=0.293), and perception of movement of the prosthesis (p<0.001). Conclusions: The GOHAI score indicates a moderate quality of life related to oral health after prosthetic rehabilitation. The GOHAI index can be considered effective for the evaluation of the OHRQoL.La evaluación de la calidad de vida relacionada a la salud oral (CVRSO) resulta importante para la valoración clínica pudiendo ser un indicador de la calidad en el tratamiento recibido. Objetivo: Evaluar la CVRSO en adultos con rehabilitación protésica removible relacionándola con características de los participantes como edad, sexo, tipo y tiempo de uso de la prótesis, experiencia previa y percepción sobre la estabilidad de la misma. Materiales y Métodos: Se evaluaron 217 pacientes de la Clínica Odontológica de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos-Perú, posterior a la rehabilitación con prótesis removible. Se aplicó un cuestionario estructurado mediante entrevista vía telefónica. La evaluación de la CVRSO se realizó mediante el índice de Evaluación de Salud Oral General/Geriátrica (GOHAI). Para el análisis estadístico se utilizaron las pruebas de U de Mann Whitney, H de Kruskal-Wallis y correlación de Spearman. Resultado: La muestra incluyó 63 hombres (29%) y 154 mujeres (71%) con una edad media de 66.34. La puntuación media del GOHAI fue de 52.44 + 8.15. Se relacionó la puntuación del GOHAI con la edad (p=0.241), sexo (p=0.110), tipo de prótesis (p=0.069), experiencia previa (p=0.293) y percepción de movimiento de la prótesis (p<0.001). Conclusion: La puntuación del GOHAI indica una moderada calidad de vida relacionada a la salud oral después de la rehabilitación protésica. El índice GOHAI puede considerarse efectivo para la evaluación de la CVRSO

    La investigación tuvo como OBJETIVO GENERAL determinar cómo se relaciona la cultura organizacional con la satisfacción laboral en el Centro de Salud Conde de la Vega Baja Lima, la MÉTODOLOGIA DE ESTUDIO fue de tipo cuantitativo, descriptivo, correlacional y transversal de diseño no experimental de corte transversal, la población estuvo conformada por 50 trabajadores siendo su muestra 44 trabajadores del Centro de salud Conde de la Vega Baja, la técnica de instrumento de datos utilizadas fueron las encuestas y cuestionarios, en el procesamiento estadístico se usó SSPP,prueba Rho Spearman, los RESULTADOS indicaron que existe relación entre la cultura organizacional y la satisfacción laboral del personal que trabaja en el Centro de Salud de Vega Baja Lima —2017, en CONCLUSIÓN se evidencio una correlación positiva de nivel medio con tendencia a considerable (Rho = 0.641) (p= 0.000).Tesi

    Spin Temperatures of Ammonia and Water Molecules in Comets

    The nuclear spin temperature, which is derived from the ortho-to-para abundance ratio of molecules measured in cometary comae, is a clue to the formation conditions of cometary materials, especially the physical temperature at which the molecules were formed. In this paper we present new results for the nuclear spin temperatures of ammonia in comets Hale-Bopp (C/1995 O1) and 153P/Ikeya-Zhang based on observations of NH2 at 26 and 32 K, respectively. These results are similar to previous measurements in two other comets, and the nuclear spin temperatures of ammonia in the four comets are concentrated at about 30 K. We emphasize that the nuclear spin temperatures of water measured thus far have also been about 30 K. In particular, the spin temperatures of ammonia and water are equal to each other within ±1 σ error bars in the case of comet Hale-Bopp. These nuclear spin temperatures of ammonia and water were measured under quite different conditions (heliocentric distances and gas production rates). There is no clear trend between the nuclear spin temperatures and the heliocentric distances, the gas production rates, or the orbital periods of the comets. The possibilities of the ortho-to-para conversion in the coma and in the nucleus are discussed. The present data set implies that the ortho-to-para ratios were not altered after the molecules were incorporated into the cometary nuclei. It appears that cometary ammonia and water molecules formed on cold grains at about 30 K

    El presente trabajo de suficiencia profesional que a continuación se presenta, tiene como objetivo diseñar una propuesta didáctica para mejorar la conciencia ambiental, en base a las tres R: reducir, reutilizar y reciclar; en los estudiantes de primer año de secundaria de una institución educativa pública de Huamachuco, Sánchez Carrión, La Libertad. Este se basa en el Paradigma Sociocognitivo Humanista de: Jean Piaget, David Ausubel y Jerome Bruner (cognitivo), Lev Vygotsky y Reaven Feuerstein (social y cultural), Robert Sternberg, Martiniano Román y Eloísa Diez (Teoría de la Inteligencia). A través de esta propuesta, el estudiante se vincula con competencias, capacidades y destrezas; donde no solo adquiere conocimientos, sino también aprende valores para que pueda socializar con sus conocimientos en esta sociedad cambiante. Así, esta propuesta contiene en el primer capítulo esta la planificación del trabajo de suficiencia profesional, el segundo el marco teórico y como último capítulo la programación curricular.The current work of professional sufficiency has as an objective the design of a didactical proposal to improve environmental awareness, in base of the three R: reduce, reuse and recycle; in the first year’s high school students of the public institution of Huamachuco, Sánchez Carrión, La Libertad.     Tissue Localization and Extracellular Matrix Degradation by PI, PII and PIII Snake Venom Metalloproteinases: Clues on the Mechanisms of Venom-Induced Hemorrhage

    20 páginas, 4 figuras, 3 tablas y 7 tablas en material suplementario.Snake venom hemorrhagic metalloproteinases (SVMPs) of the PI, PII and PIII classes were compared in terms of tissue localization and their ability to hydrolyze basement membrane components in vivo, as well as by a proteomics analysis of exudates collected in tissue injected with these enzymes. Immunohistochemical analyses of co-localization of these SVMPs with type IV collagen revealed that PII and PIII enzymes co-localized with type IV collagen in capillaries, arterioles and post-capillary venules to a higher extent than PI SVMP, which showed a more widespread distribution in the tissue. The patterns of hydrolysis by these three SVMPs of laminin, type VI collagen and nidogen in vivo greatly differ, whereas the three enzymes showed a similar pattern of degradation of type IV collagen, supporting the concept that hydrolysis of this component is critical for the destabilization of microvessel structure leading to hemorrhage. Proteomic analysis of wound exudate revealed similarities and differences between the action of the three SVMPs. Higher extent of proteolysis was observed for the PI enzyme regarding several extracellular matrix components and fibrinogen, whereas exudates from mice injected with PII and PIII SVMPs had higher amounts of some intracellular proteins.     Association of hepatitis B virus infection status with outcomes of non-small cell lung cancer patients undergoing anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy

    Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and survival outcomes of anti-programmed cell death (PD)-1/programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) monotherapy in patients with advanced nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and different hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection status. Methods: Patients with advanced NSCLC and both chronic and/or resolved HBV infection who were treated with anti-PD-(L)1 monotherapy were retrospectively enrolled. The primary endpoint was the safety of PD-1/PD-L1 monotherapy, while the secondary endpoints included the survival outcomes. Results: Of the 62 eligible patients, 10 (16.1%) were hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) positive [chronic hepatitis B (CHB) infection] and 52 (83.9%) were HBsAg negative and HBcAb positive [resolved hepatitis B (RHB) infection]; 42 (67.7%) patients had at least 1 treatment-related adverse event (AE), with 4 patients (6.5%) developing grade 3 AEs and 6 (9.7%) developing hepatic AEs. One CHB patient experienced HBV reactivation during anti-PD-1 immunotherapy due to the interruption of antiviral prophylaxis. The objective response rate and durable clinical benefit (DCB) rate were 17.7% and 29.0%, respectively. Median overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were 23.6 months [95% confidence interval (CI): 14.432.8] and 2.1 months (95% CI: 1.2-3.0), respectively. The DCB rate was significantly higher in the CHB group than in the RHB group (60% vs. 23.1%; P=0.048). Patients with CHB experienced a longer PFS (8.3 vs. 2.0 months; P=0.103) and OS (35.0 vs. 18.2 months, P=0.119) than did RHB patients. Conclusions: Anti-PD-(L)1 monotherapy was safe and effective in patients with NSCLC and HBV infection. This population should not be excluded from receiving immunotherapy in routine clinical practice or within clinical trials if HBV biomarkers are monitored and antiviral prophylaxis is properly used

    Developmental regulation of tau splicing is disrupted in stem cell-derived neurons from frontotemporal dementia patients with the 10 + 16 splice-site mutation in MAPT

    The alternative splicing of the tau gene, MAPT, generates six protein isoforms in the adult human CNS. Tau splicing is developmentally regulated and dysregulated in disease. Mutations in MAPT that alter tau splicing cause frontotemporal dementia (FTD) with tau pathology, providing evidence for a causal link between altered tau splicing and disease. The use of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) derived neurons has revolutionized the way we model neurological disease in vitro. However, as most tau mutations are located within or around the alternatively spliced exon 10, it is important that iPSC-neurons splice tau appropriately in order to be used as disease models. To address this issue, we analysed the expression, and splicing of tau in iPSC-derived cortical neurons from control patients and FTD patients with the 10+16 intronic mutation in MAPT. We show that control neurons only express the fetal tau isoform (0N3R), even at extended time points of 100 days in vitro. Neurons from FTD patients with the 10+16 mutation in MAPT express both 0N3R and 0N4R tau isoforms, demonstrating that this mutation overrides the developmental regulation of exon 10 inclusion in our in vitro model. Further, at extended time-points of 365 days in vitro, we observe a switch in tau splicing to include six tau isoforms as seen the adult human CNS. Our results demonstrate the importance of neuronal maturity for use in in vitro modeling and provide a system that will be important for understanding the functional consequences of altered tau splicing

    A discontinuous DNA glycosylase domain in a family of enzymes that excise 5-methylcytosine

    DNA cytosine methylation (5-meC) is a widespread epigenetic mark associated to gene silencing. In plants, DEMETER-LIKE (DML) proteins typified by Arabidopsis REPRESSOR OF SILENCING 1 (ROS1) initiate active DNA demethylation by catalyzing 5-meC excision. DML proteins belong to the HhH-GPD superfamily, the largest and most functionally diverse group of DNA glycosylases, but the molecular properties that underlie their capacity to specifically recognize and excise 5-meC are largely unknown. We have found that sequence similarity to HhH-GPD enzymes in DML proteins is actually distributed over two non-contiguous segments connected by a predicted disordered region. We used homology-based modeling to locate candidate residues important for ROS1 function in both segments, and tested our predictions by site-specific mutagenesis. We found that amino acids T606 and D611 are essential for ROS1 DNA glycosylase activity, whereas mutations in either of two aromatic residues (F589 and Y1028) reverse the characteristic ROS1 preference for 5-meC over T. We also found evidence suggesting that ROS1 uses Q607 to flip out 5-meC, while the contiguous N608 residue contributes to sequence-context specificity. In addition to providing novel insights into the molecular basis of 5-meC excision, our results reveal that ROS1 and its DML homologs possess a discontinuous catalytic domain that is unprecedented among known DNA glycosylases

    Ethanol extracts of mango as antioxidants for laying hens

    O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de extratos etanólicos do caroço e da casca de manga, sobre o desempenho de poedeiras e sobre a qualidade e estabilidade lipídica dos ovos. Um total de 180 poedeiras comerciais Hisex White foi distribuído ao acaso em seis tratamentos, com cinco repetições de seis aves. Os tratamentos consistiram de: ração sem adição de antioxidante; ração com 200 ppm do antioxidante butilato de hidroxitolueno (BHT); ração com 200 ou 400 ppm de extrato da casca de manga (Ecas); ração com 200 ou 400 ppm de extrato de caroço de manga (Ecar). Foram avaliados: o consumo de ração, a produção de ovos, o peso do ovo, a massa de ovo produzida (grama por ave por dia), a conversão alimentar e características de qualidade dos ovos. A oxidação lipídica da gema durante o armazenamento foi determinada pela quantificação das substâncias reativas ao ácido tiobarbitúrico. As aves alimentadas com a ração sem adição de antioxidantes produziram ovos com os piores valores de unidade Haugh e maior oxidação lipídica da gema. Os teores de 400 ppm de Ecas e 200 ou 400 ppm de Ecar foram efetivos na prevenção de danos oxidativos aos ovos durante o armazenamento e podem ser utilizados na alimentação das poedeiras como substituto ao antioxidante sintético.The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of ethanol extracts of mango seeds and peel on laying hen performance, egg quality, and egg lipid stability. A total of 180 Hisex White hens were randomly distributed in six treatments, with five replicates of six birds. The treatments consisted of: ration without antioxidant; ration with 200 ppm butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT); ration with 200 or 400 ppm of mango peel extract (Ecas); and ration with 200 or 400 ppm of mango seed extract (Ecar). Feed intake, egg production, egg weight, produced egg mass (gram by bird per day), feed conversion, and egg quality were evaluated. Yolk lipid oxidation during storage was determined by quantification of thiobarbituric acid‑reactive substances. Birds fed diet without antioxidants produced eggs with the lowest Haugh unit values and the highest lipid oxidation of yolk. Ecas at 400 ppm and Ecar at 200 or 400 ppm were effective to prevent oxidative damage of eggs during storage and may be used in the diet of laying hens as a replacement for synthetic antioxidant
