Facing 2020: the 9 traits of successfull migrant entrepreneurs in the municipality of Rome

The distinctiveness of migrants’ entrepreneurial propensity can be explained by considering both internal characteristics of the individual migrant, as well as the external environment of the host economy he/she operates in (Kloosterman et al. 1999). Migrants can perceive and seek entrepreneurial opportunities through specific sets of resources and personality-traits (Kloosterman/Rath 2001, Kloosterman 2010). Despite of this, the topic is vastly under-studied compared to its economic importance. After an in-depth study of the literature status quo about it, the paper analyses the motivation, intention, self-efficacy, culture, entrepreneurial orientation and performance of immigrant entrepreneurs. The main aim is to verify to what extent perceptions and skills of these immigrant entrepreneurs are similar to entrepreneurial psychological constructs studied in the literature. The used research instrument was the semi-structured interview consisting of 49 open-ended questions directed at the sample under examination. The results of the study showed a significant correlation between motivation and business performance (a motivated entrepreneur is more likely to succeed in business than an unmotivated entre-preneur) and a significant positive correlation between culture and motivation to start a business (a culture that is supportive of entrepreneurial activities, lowuncertainty avoidance, high individualism and lowpower distance relates positively to a high level of entrepreneurial self-efficacy).peerReviewe

The main aim of this research is study the role of entrepreneurial education in academic wellbeing and burnout prevention. Based upon the existing literature, it has been reached the elaboration of several hypothesis; first of all the existence of a high level of entrepreneurial motivations among students as well as a low level of academic burnout in a condition of organizational wellbeing. Hence, the further hypothesis that between the two constructs there is a direct correlation of negative sign and the conclusion that where these requisites are present university is effectively entrepreneurial and in condition of academic wellbeing

Context: In the last decade, a wide literature has highlighted the importance of religiosity as support of severe illnesses, especially the oncological ones, and in the end of life. In the field of the liver transplant there is a lack of similar research. This article aims to bridge this gap and presents an exploratory study on the relationships between fear of death, courage and religiosity among patients who wait for liver transplant. Method: Sixty-two participants awaiting a liver transplant were interviewed with regard to their quality of life, religiosity, ontological representations and fear of death, courage and fear of intervention, donor-related thoughts. The following instruments were utilized: a specific interview; the Short Form Health Survey (SF-36); the Testoni Death Representation Scale (TDRS) and the Courage Measure. Results: Patients reporting higher levels of fear for intervention showed less courage and were more likely to avoid the surgery. They also tended to be non-believers, to have a lower quality of life, and to represent death as an absolute annihilation. Conclusions: The less death was represented as a passage, the stronger the avoidance behaviour and the fear of transplant were. Since it is possible to develop a positive thought about death, the study underlined how the spiritual support could be useful to manage fear of transplantation

Purpose: This paper aims to investigate the potential of knowledge management (KM) as a discipline in helping understand and manage social and economic complexity. The paper highlights some of the potential relationships between KM in organisations and their economic performance. Finally, the authors assess the role of human resources and technological infrastructures in the relationship between organisation’s approach to KM and their performance. Design/methodology/approach: The hypotheses are tested via a survey on a sample of managerial-level employees of information technology organisations located in the city of Brno in Czech Republic. The data collected are analysed using structural equation modelling (SEM) to study the relationship between KM; the workforce’s willingness and ability to collaborate and co-create value; and the organisations’ economic performance. Findings: The research found that there is a direct and positive relationship between an organisation’s approach to KM and its economic performance. This study also shows that the workforce’s behaviour and the technological infrastructure of the organisation have a direct effect on business performance. Finally, the authors proposed that a link between human resource management and technology orientation must be established and supported by a KM strategy. Originality/value: This paper offers a new perspective to the approach to KM in organisations. Reflections and empirical results underline the need for organisations to invest in the implementation of KM strategies that involve both the human resources and technological infrastructure as a way to improve the impact of knowledge on the companies’ economic performances

In the article the main marketing features of business portfolio evaluation process were shown. It was emphasized, that market correlation between business portfolio components is required to be mentioned during its balance estimation. In case it was figured out, those components (strategic business units (SBU) and supporting market activities) need to be in business directions organized. One of the effective ways of solving those business challenges is the algorithm of finding and forming balanced portfolio which was discribed in this article. To be successfully completed it should include the following input values: correlation matrix of SBU; the range within which the number of SBU in the portflio changes; the final number of optimal business portfolios.

The main aim of this research is study the role of entrepreneurial education in academic well- being and burnout prevention. Based upon the existing literature, it has been reached the elaboration of several hypothesis; first of all the existence of a high level of entrepreneurial motivations among students as well as a low level of academic burnout in a condition of organizational wellbeing. Hence, the further hypothesis that between the two constructs there is a direct correlation of negative sign and the conclusion that where these requisites are present university is effectively entrepreneurial and in condition of academic wellbeing.
