Es dóna a conéixer un breu resum de les excavacions realitzades fins avui al jaciment de l'Edat del Bronze del Mas del Corral i els seus resultats més rellevants,tant pel que fa a l'aspecte de l'habitat com al funerari. El Museo Arqueológico Municipal de Crevillent (Alicante). La historia de un compromiso con el patrimonio arqueológico local

En esta colaboración se pretende condensar más de sesenta años de actividades arqueológicas en una comarca y un término municipal de extraordinaria importancia arqueológica cuyos antecedentes se remontan al Paleolítico Superior y discurren sin solución de continuidad por todas las culturas del pasado humano de estas tierras hasta la actualidad. Todo ello se puede conocer a través de un Museo que pretende ser el motor de la conservación, investigación y divulgación del patrimonio arqueológico crevillentino. Se dan a conocer asimismo y de modo sucinto, los principales proyectos de investigación llevados a cabo en los yacimientos crevillentinos, así como el proyecto de excavaciones que en la actualidad está en marcha en el yacimiento de la Penya Negra y el nuevo proyecto museográfico

Penya Negra (Crevillent-Alacant): in search of the city of Herna

Sʼhi repassen les primeres notícies sobre Penya Negra i les investigacions dutes a terme en el jaciment al llarg de més de 40 anys, amb una primera etapa entre els anys 70 i 90 del segle XX, i una altra de més recent, iniciada el 2014. La Penya Negra estigué ocupada durant el bronze final i el bronze ple, entre els segles IX i VI aC, i fou una de les poblacions urbanes més antigues de la costa mediterrània de la península Ibèrica, possiblement identificada amb la ciutat d᾽Herna, localitzada en els confins nord-orientals del territori tartessi.In this paper the early news about Penya Negra and the research carried out at this archaeological site over more than 40 years are reviewed. These studies started between the 70s and 90s and were continued from 2014 onwards. The site of Penya Negra was occupied during the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages, from the 9th to 6th century BC. It was one of the oldest urban populations in the Mediterranean coast of the Iberian Peninsula, possibly identified with the ancient city of Herna, located at the northeastern edge of the Tartessian territory

Dental calculus is not equivalent to bone collagen for isotope analysis: a comparison between carbon and nitrogen stable isotope analysis of bulk dental calculus, bone and dentine collagen from same individuals from the Medieval site of El Raval (Alicante, Spain).

Palaeodietary reconstruction using the carbon and nitrogen isotope values of bone and dentine collagen is a well-established method and the biochemical processes involved are well known. Researchers have recently explored using bulk samples of dental calculus as a substitute for bone and dentine collagen in dietary analyses, because calculus can be sampled without causing damage to the teeth, and may be useful in situations where more destructive analyses are not possible, or where collagen is poorly preserved. Several questions remain about the use of bulk calculus as a source of carbon and nitrogen isotope data, however. It is not yet clear how much of an individual¿s life span dental calculus represents, what portions of the diet it records, and how diagenesis effects the carbon and nitrogen isotope values of this material. Most importantly, there have been no comparative studies of collagen and calculus isotope values, which are necessary to establish the value of bulk calculus as a source of accurate isotope values. Here we report the comparison of carbon and nitrogen stable isotope analyses of bulk calculus to those from bone and dentine collagen. These analyses have been performed on individuals from the El Raval Mudéjar Medieval Cemetery (Eastern Iberia, 15th century A.D.). Although calculus isotope values may be broadly similar to expected values at the population level, we report here no correlation between collagen and bulk dental calculus values at the individual level. As a result, we recommend that carbon and nitrogen analysis on bulk dental calculus should only be used as a last resource archaeological dietary marker, if at all

Paleopatología en la necrópolis mudéjar de El Raval (Crevillent, Alicante)

Presentamos el estudio osteoarqueológico de las inhumaciones procedentes de la necrópolis mudéjar del Raval (Crevillent, Alicante). Se han identificado un mínimo de 83 individuos de diferentes edades y de ambos sexos. Las patologías observadas son variadas, evidenciándose un alto número de patologías dentales (caries, pérdidas dentales, etc.). Se ha constatado la presencia de patología traumática, osteoarticular, signos infecciosos, etc. Igualmente, hemos señalado la existencia de malformaciones congénitas, y diversas variaciones epigenéticas.In this paper we present the paleopathological study of inhumations from a Mudejar necropolis in El Raval (Crevillent, Alicante). We have identified at least 83 individuals of different ages and both sexes. The recognized pathology is varied, showing a high number of dental diseases (tooth decay, tooth loss, etc.). It is evident the presence of trauma, osteoarthropathy, infectious signs, etc. We have also noticed the existence of congenital malformations, and several epigenetic variations

The Bronze Age settlement of la Mola Alta de Serelles (Alcoy, Alicante)

Este trabajo es un resumen de nuestra Memoria de Licenciatura que, bajo la dirección del doctor Mauro S. Hernández Pérez, fue presentada en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Alicante, obteniendo la calificación de «sobresaliente por unanimidad».El objeto de este artículo es la revisión y actualización de uno de los poblados más característicos de la Cultura del Bronce Valenciano, la Mola Alta de Serelles, al igual que publicamos algunos materiales del mismo aún inéditos. De entre todos, podemos destacar el análisis de los restos constructivos conservados hasta la actualidad, la tipología del material cerámico, y en general el estudio que hacemos de la metalurgia, la industria lítica, ósea, etc.The aim of this article is the revision ad bringing up to date of one of the most characteristics settlements of Valencian Bronze Culture, La Mola Alta de Serelles. We write of several of its materials not previously published. La cazoleta de El Agudo (Orihuela-Alicante)

Se da a conocer el resultado de una inspección que se realizó por el Museo Arqueológico de Crevillent en noviembre de 2019, como consecuencia de la información proporcionada por un vecino de Redován, que había localizado una “cazoleta” rupestre en las faldas del monte de El Agudo. Cuando nos personamos en el lugar confirmamos el descubrimiento y ya en ese momento descartamos una función ritual. El rastreo en la bibliografía nos parece confirmar que se trata de un contenedor de agua realizado en la roca del que se desconoce su atribución cultural

Documentación sonora del violinista crevillentino Telmo Vela (*1889; †1978)

La actividad de Telmo Vela, relevante violinista nacido en Crevillente se encuentra estrechamente vinculada al sujeto de mi tesis doctoral. Por ello, en este artículo se actualizarán y ampliarán algunos datos que ofrece la biografía escrita por José Alberto Aznar Asensio en 2012 sobre el violinista crevillentino, ayudándonos de la autobiografía del propio compositor y del hallazgo de grabaciones inéditas en cintas de magnetófono de bobina abierta que, formando parte del legado entregado por sus herederos al ayuntamiento de Crevillente, han podido digitalizarse recientemente, lo que ha posibilitado su escucha y posterior estudio. La investigación del material sonoro ha permitido realizar un análisis, tanto del tipo de obras que conformaban el repertorio de violín y piano a mediados del siglo XX, como de las características referidas al estilo interpretativo y a la técnica que poseía el citado violinista. Dichas grabaciones confirman la indudable relevancia que tuvo Telmo Vela en el panorama violinístico, tanto nacional como internacional de principios del siglo XX.The activity of Telmo Vela, an important violinist born in Crevillente, is closely linked to the subject of my doctoral thesis. For this reason, we will update and expand in this article some information offered by the biography written by José Alberto Aznar Asensio in 2012 on the Crevillentino violinist, helping us with the composer’s autobiography and the discovery of unpublished recordings on open-coil tape recorders that, as part of the legacy delivered by his heirs to the Crevillente town hall, have recently been digitized, which has made it possible to listen and study them. The investigation of the aforementioned sound material has allowed to carry out an analysis, both of the type of works that made up the repertoire of violin and piano in the mid-20th century, and of the characteristics related to the interpretive style and technique that the violinist from Alicante possessed. These recordings confirm the undoubted relevance that Telmo Vela had in the violin scene, both nationally and international at the beginning of the 20th century
