Given the low representation of women as sports coaches in Brazil, this study aimed to identify the access routes and strategies used by Brazilian coaches for their access, rising and staying in office. The sample consisted of thirteen coaches of eight sports. Data collection was conducted through a semi-structured interview. Results indicated that the main ways to enter the job were guiding and invitation. It was found that the permanence of the coaches is guaranteed primarily by the credibility gained from the winnings. It was concluded that lack of access opportunities is the major barrier to women's retention in coaching, as it is a male-dominated profession.

This papper is part of a master´s dissertation based in gender studies and oral history.  Beginning with the trajectory of nine ex-athletes of the 1970´s, it tries to comprehend the early participation of Viçosense women in university sports.  In that decade, the relations developed in the world of university sports, a space conceived by men and for men, act as the thread to these narratives.  These relations were organized on behalf of normative systems that regulated citizens, bodies, and practices inside the institution, creating an environment of negotiations and disputes in which men and women shaped their history. The book entitled Visão de Jogo: antropologia das práticas esportivas (“View of game: an anthropology of sports practice”) by Luis H. de Toledo and Carlos E. Costa, published in 2009, brings ten chapters and surveys of different aspects of sports, although they intertwine in the conception of view of game. Beyond high performance sports, Toledo and Costa approach sports practice in its totality. In that context, they discuss gender relations, symbolic effectiveness, sociability, politics, and Brazilian players’ ethos. In Brazilian sports there are only a small number of women working as coaches. In this context, this study aimed to identify and analyze the barriers that Brazilian female coaches encounter when pursuing a coaching career. Participants were 13 female coaches from 8 different sports. Data were collected through semi structured interview. The main challenges faced by Brazilian female coaches were male dominance, prejudice, conflict between personal and professional life, and low salaries. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that female coaches face many barriers, which limit the presence of women in coaching in Brazilian sports

Biodiversity loss is one of the main challenges of our time,1,2 and attempts to address it require a clear un derstanding of how ecological communities respond to environmental change across time and space.3,4 While the increasing availability of global databases on ecological communities has advanced our knowledge of biodiversity sensitivity to environmental changes,5–7 vast areas of the tropics remain understudied.8–11 In the American tropics, Amazonia stands out as the world’s most diverse rainforest and the primary source of Neotropical biodiversity,12 but it remains among the least known forests in America and is often underrepre sented in biodiversity databases.13–15 To worsen this situation, human-induced modifications16,17 may elim inate pieces of the Amazon’s biodiversity puzzle before we can use them to understand how ecological com munities are responding. To increase generalization and applicability of biodiversity knowledge,18,19 it is thus crucial to reduce biases in ecological research, particularly in regions projected to face the most pronounced environmental changes. We integrate ecological community metadata of 7,694 sampling sites for multiple or ganism groups in a machine learning model framework to map the research probability across the Brazilian Amazonia, while identifying the region’s vulnerability to environmental change. 15%–18% of the most ne glected areas in ecological research are expected to experience severe climate or land use changes by 2050. This means that unless we take immediate action, we will not be able to establish their current status, much less monitor how it is changing and what is being lostinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
