To leave or to stay? Uruguay and Paraguay within the Mercosur

The main objective of this paper is to show that when countries conforming a block that makes what some specialists have called: regionalism or integration -- having between them big asymmetries -- the policy to threat to leave the block can be a very efficient policy for those countries more harmed by the presence of such asymmetries. Este artículo pretende indagar en la figura del hombre lector que se representa en la novela decimonónica, más exactamente, en aquellos que se desvían de la representación más generalizada. Es decir, frente a la figura del hombre culto, reflexivo y distanciado de sus lecturas, podemos encontrar otro tipo de lectores que se acercan “peligrosamente” al modo de leer que se asociaba a la mujer. Este trabajo abarca el estudio acerca de la manera en que la lectura de carácter intelectual afecta a la heroína perteneciente a la novela realista y naturalista española en la relación con su entorno. Dadas las transformaciones identitarias surgidas a raíz de este ejercicio,  la interacción que se produce con el resto de agentes al ser un sujeto social se modifica radicalmente. Por ello, procedemos a analizar el modo en que la sociedad coarta y castiga toda conducta situada al margen del orden normativo. Sin embargo, al mismo tiempo, recalcamos la contradicción en que incurren los autores cuando, a la vez que niegan posibilidades a sus heroínas, las hacen visibles.This paper deals with the effects of reading intellectual texts and how it affects the heroine in relation to the new way that conform her gender, also her relationship to the environment and the interactions with other agents, being as she is a social subject ˗in the realist and naturalist Spanish novels˗. Therefore, I analyze how society restricts and punishes any conduct that falls out the normative order. At the same time, however, I emphasize the contradictions within the authors, who, while denying the opportunities to their heroines, they make them visible

Agenda 21 and the ecological footprint as instruments to achieve a sustainable university

[Resumen] Para frenar el rápido deterioro ambiental, la universidad ha de formar a las nuevas generaciones en un modelo de sostenibilidad integral (solidaridad sincrónica y diacrónica) y, además, contribuir al cambio en los estilos de vida, en los conocimientos y conductas de la sociedad actual. Esto precisa un nuevo marco teórico-metodológico bajo el paradigma de la sostenibilidad que fundamente y concrete las propuestas educativas. Tomando como referencia los principios del desarrollo sostenible y utilizando como «herramientas» la Agenda 21en la Universidad y la Huella Ecológica, hemos desarrollado y puesto en práctica una estrategia metodológica (ecometodología) con el fin de capacitar a nuestro alumnado (profesorado en formación) para actuar con criterios de sustentabilidad, tanto colectiva, como individualmente[Abstract] In order to stop the quick environmental deterioration of the planet, University has to prepare the new generations following a model of integral sustainability (synchronic and diachronic solidarity) and it also has to contribute to a change in lifestyles, in knowledge and behaviours in our society. Developing sustainable environmental behavior in secondary education students (12-16) Analysis of a didactic strategy

AbstractEven though the concern about the environment has never been so deep in the developing countries, this fact does not translates into behaviours that are environmentally responsible. One of the possible reasons of the gap between attitudes and behaviours is that the generalized interest for the environment lives with a feeling of hopelessness and incapability to turn the interest in actions. Environmental Education (EE) may play a core role in the solution of this problem, if makes them capable to have a “sustainable” behaviour and make decisions in favour of the environment.In this paper we present a investigative didactic methodology, of a constructivist type, that intends to achieve this goal. The results obtained with students of E.S.O. show that it is a good alternative compared to a more traditional methodology
