Reflexiones sobre la convivencia con mujeres víctimas de violencia de género en un medio residencial

The most visible face of gender violence is the position of the woman as a victim. The most shocking fact is the brutality she suffers and the loss of opportunities that it entails. It is out of the question that gender violence is based upon a patriarchal structured social system, however we can’t overlook the influence of factors outside the sociological field. From my experience as a clinical psychologist, I see the interaction between social and personality aspects. If we insist on considering that only external factors matter, we turn women into passive victims helpless in a hostile world they can’t change. On the other hand, if we promote the assumption of their personal participation in the setting of these relationships, we give them hope and we open a way towards learning to defend themselves that leads to independence and to the chance of stablishing non abusive relationships with others.Lo más visible de la violencia de género es la situación de víctima de la mujer. Lo más impactante es la brutalidad que sufre y la pérdida de oportunidades que ello acarrea. Sin cuestionar que la violencia de género se sustenta sobre la base de un sistema social de estructura patriarcal, no debemos pasar por alto que existen factores que trascienden lo estrictamente sociológico. Desde mi experiencia como psicóloga clínica observo la interacción entre factores de estructura social y de estructura de personalidad. Si insistimos en que son exclusivamente factores externos los que están en juego convertimos a las mujeres en víctimas pasivas desamparadas ante un mundo hostil que no pueden modificar. Si, por el contrario, posibilitamos la toma de conciencia de su implicación personal en como se fraguan esas relaciones, transmitimos esperanza y abrimos una vía para que puedan defenderse, independizarse y establecer relaciones no abusivas con otras personas

Decoding colouration of begging traits by the experimental addition of the appetite enhancer cyproheptadine hydrochloride in magpie (Pica pica) nestlings

Data available from the Dryad Digital Repository: (Martín-Gálvez and Soler 2016)The colouration of some traits in nestlings of altricial birds may influence parental food allocation as it may reflect physical condition or hunger. There is increasing evidence of the relationship between colouration of begging traits and nestling performance. However, evidence of the influence of hunger level on nestling colouration is scarce, mainly because of difficulty of distinguishing between the effects of physical condition and hunger levels. Here, we used the appetite stimulant cyproheptadine hydrochloride to increase the sensation of hunger of magpie Pica pica nestlings for eight days and assessed the effect on the colouration of rictal flanges, mouth and body skin. We found that nestlings administered with cyproheptadine had flanges more conspicuous (chromatic visual contrast), more UV coloured and less yellow coloured than their control nestmates. Conversely, mouths of experimental nestlings were more yellow coloured and less UV coloured than controls. Our pharmacological experiment afected the strength of the relationship between body mass and some colour components of body skin (chromatic and achromatic visual contrasts, UV – chroma and yellow – chroma) and of rictal flanges (chromatic visual contrasts, UV – chroma and yellow – chroma), but not for mouth colouration. These results taken together suggest that the effect of the cyproheptadine on nestling colourations is probably mediated by an increase in hunger levels of nestlings for rictal flanges and body skin colourations, and by an increase in physical condition in the case of mouth coloration.Th is research was funded by a postdoctoral fellowship to DM-G from Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia, and by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación/FEDER (project CGL2013-48193-C3-1-P)Peer reviewe

Implementation of Modeling Tools for Teaching Biorefinery (Focused on Bioethanol Production) in Biochemical Engineering Courses: Dynamic Modeling of Batch, Semi-Batch, and Continuous Well-Stirred Bioreactors

Due to the ever-growing pressure on our planet’s natural resources to supply energy, the production of bioethanol by fermentation of lignocellulosic biomass is increasingly important in courses related to engineering and energy. Moreover, recent changes in the teaching–learning paradigm make necessary the introduction of novel teaching tools where students are the protagonist of their education. In this context, the purpose of this study is to compare the results obtained after traditional lessons with those obtained after the implementation of various computer activities based on modeling and simulation of bioreactors to teach biorefinery concepts focused on bioethanol production. Berkeley Madonna was chosen as the digital simulation software package because it is user-friendly, fast, and easy to program. This software allowed students to gain experience writing models that let optimize fermentations in well-stirred bioreactors and others bioprocess of industrial interest. The students (those who participated in the modeling-simulation classes and those who participated in traditional ones) completed a questionnaire and a cognitive test at the end of the course. Students that participated in modeling-simulation classes got a better score than students that participated in traditional classes. Therefore, the study showed the improvement in the understanding of the biorefinery concepts and the students improved their grades. Finally, students’ perception about the proposed modeling-simulation learning was also analyzed and they rated the efficiency of this new learning methodology as satisfactory. There are very few studies providing information about educational experiences regarding the development of skills for the formulation, interpretation, simplification, and use of mathematical models based on mass balances and simple microbial kinetics in biochemical engineering courses. Target group analysis of the Canary Island Tourism based on the Sinus Milieu segmentation

Inwiefern unterscheiden sich die touristischen Zielgruppen der kanarischen Inseln voneinander? Die folgende Arbeit soll zeigen, dass sich die Besuchergruppen der einzelnen Inseln voneinander unterscheiden. Dies soll anhand der Angebotspalette der verschiedenen Inseln, einer Untersuchung der Sinus Milieus sowie inselspezifischem Zahlenmaterial des kanarischen Tourismusinstituts „Turismo de Canarias“ bewiesen werden. Da die Destination Kanarische Inseln oft als Urlaubsziel im Ganzen beworben wird, soll im Gegensatz dazu im Rahmen dieser Arbeit eine ausführliche Segmentierung der einzelnen Inseln vorgenommen werden. Die durchgeführte Untersuchung ergab, dass jede der sieben Inseln ihr eigenes Profil hat und durch dieses vielfältige Angebot die Destination Kanarische Inseln unterschiedliche touristische Zielgruppen mit verschiedensten Vorlieben anspricht

Otra mirada, nuevos caminos: dinámicas de poder y corrupción a través de la residencia de Melchor de Navarra y Rocafull, virrey del Perú (1681-1689)

This text analyzes in its entirety and context the trial of residence against viceroy Melchor de Navarra. Such analytical approach confirms how the list of charges and successive sentences doesn´t show a true reflection of his management, nor of the alleged misconducts he may had committed. Moreover, it reveals a latent struggle with the judge, and also the mobilization of all kinds of resources to favour an initially adverse process through legal channels and others that transgressed the legality or morally accepted. Thus, the results obtained allow us to outline a broadest, more complex and subtle reading of the procedure itself, as well as that of the actions and potential illicit practices of this viceroy, refuting formulations that have been held up to now.El presente texto analiza en su totalidad y contexto el juicio de residencia incoado al virrey Melchor de Navarra. Tal enfoque analítico constata cómo la lista de cargos y sucesivas sentencias no constituyen un fiel reflejo de su gestión, ni  de las supuestas faltas que pudo cometer. Es más, manifiesta una pugna latente con el juez residenciador, junto a la movilización de todo tipo de recursos para decantar a su favor un proceso inicialmente adverso, bien por cauces legales, bien por otros que traspasaron la legalidad o lo moralmente aceptado. De este modo, los resultados obtenidos permiten esbozar una lectura más amplia, compleja y sutil del propio procedimiento, al mismo tiempo que del accionar y de las potenciales prácticas ilícitas de este vicesoberano rebatiendo formulaciones hasta ahora sostenidas

This text offers a historiographical overview of the different lines of research that have addressed the figure of the viceroys of the New World of the Hispanic Monarchy. Consequently, it reveals the most significant perspectives and contributions, beside the deficiencies found, in addition to the enormous and suggestive possibilities that the figure of the Indies Viceroys, both complex and multifaceted, treasures. A balance that, in the same way, does not ignore the historiographical tradition that this real agent has aroused in other territories. This article considers the current trends in historical analysis, due to the academic view on the vicesoberanos has been closely linked to the rhythms and studies of general historiography, and of Hispanic modernist historical literature, in particular.El presente texto ofrece una panorámica historiográfica sobre las diferentes líneas de investigación que han abordado la figura de los virreyes del Nuevo Mundo de la Monarquía Hispánica. Study of the cerebrospinal fluid in the perivascular spaces

Actualmente, existe un elevado porcentaje de personas que sufren enfermedades neurodegenerativas. Algunos estudios culpan al mal transporte de los desechos del sistema nervioso de ser uno de los factores que producen enfermedades como el Alzheimer. Esta eliminación de desechos se realiza gracias al líquido cefalorraquídeo a través de los espacios perivasculares. Estos espacios perivasculares han sido descubiertos no hace mucho, por lo que el movimiento del líquido cefalorraquídeo a través de estos no ha sido unívocamente definido todavía. Por ello, este Trabajo de Fin de Grado se basa en realizar un estudio de la información existente y comprobar algunas de las hipótesis actuales, tanto de forma teórica a partir de la Mecánica de Fluidos como de forma numérica, abarcándolas mediante simplificaciones justificadas. Con ese fin, se han diseñado modelos que probar mediante simulaciones gracias a ANSYS Fluent, obteniendo resultados de presión, caudal y velocidad del líquido cefalorraquídeo a través de estos espacios perivasculares o de Robin-Virchow en distintas simplificaciones como en una geometría cilíndrica, cilíndrica concéntrica con radios fijos y con radios variables. Este último caso es el más relevante por su similitud con la realidad, en el que se ha comprobado la capacidad del movimiento pulsátil de la pared arterial de producir un flujo de líquido cefalorraquídeo por estos espacios. Asimismo, se ha comprobado la influencia de distintas frecuencias cardiacas (7,10 y 14 Hz), distintas amplitudes de la pared arterial (0.5 %,1 % y 2 % del valor del radio de esta pared) y distintas áreas de espacio perivascular (con un diferencia entre los radios interno y externo de 3, 4 y 10 μm). Estos estudios se realizan con el fin de establecer comparaciones entre los distintos parámetros que afectan al flujo de líquido cefalorraquídeo a través de estos espacios aclarando las discrepancias entre distintas investigaciones

FIRMA : aplicación de firma digital para facturas electrónicas

La finalidad de este proyecto es dotar al usuario final de una aplicación que permita tanto firmar digitalmente facturas en formato electrónico PDF mediante certificados digitales almacenados en tarjetas criptográficas, como la verificación de las firmas digitales de las facturas.
