Nutritional status and physical function in hospitalized older adults: effects of a 12-week resistance training program with leucine-enriched protein supplementation post-exercise immediately after discharge
THE AUDIT PROCESS IN COMPANIES THAT IMPLEMENT SOFTWARE ENGINEERING PROJECTS
The use of technological resources and software has become standardized in today's society, which is why there is a need to be able to update according to the requirements that the market and industry demand from companies that develop products through a software engineering process. The role of the auditor is extremely important since he is the one who must make sure that everything is controlled and that the required needs are being fulfilled, as well as he is concerned about the security of the entities and their internal background. In this context, it is necessary to constantly improve the auditor's procedures and the legislation that regulates them, since the multiple frauds that companies suffer in terms of information obtained easily and quickly, without any major control, are well known, and it is here where care must be taken in order to reduce the levels of violations of access to unauthorized information assets. The objective of this paper is to present everything that surrounds the process of auditing requirements of software engineering projects, both generically and specifically in projects in particular the financial area, generally covering everything that is present in a software engineering project considering the need, what is obtained from them and why they arise in organizations
Social media usage by elderly: application of technology acceptance model
Although social media usage grows every day, we do not know with certainty the use that the senior citizens give to them, nor the factors that influence its use. This research is intended to apply an adaptation of the technology acceptance model (TAM) in elderly citizens to assess what influences their actual use of social media if they indeed use it. For this purpose, 300 adults over 60 participated in Cuenca, Ecuador. Through a survey we tried to find out the perceived usefulness, the perceived ease of use, the attitude toward using social networks, the behavioral intention to use social media, and the actual usage that elderly give to social media. The findings of the study show that the perceived ease of use does not influence the behavioral intention to use social media by the elderly, but rather it is the perceived usefulness of the network and its contents what have a positive and significant effect on social media usage by senior citizens
Since the emergence of HIV, tuberculosis and infection by human immunodeficiency virus HIV have been related, the latter being the most important risk factor for developing TB, and is the cause of death in people with HIV. Tuberculosis is a public health problem worldwide, one third of the world population is infected; TB remains among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, appearing around eight million new cases and three million deaths from the disease each year, even more so when there is HIV coinfection representing 25% of the population in the present time with this problem worldwide. And considering what this means for TB control is necessary to determine the prevalence of coinfection TB / HIV in the period 2009 - 2010 and establishing Preventive Action towards reducing the burden of both TB and HIV. For this, a not experimental or observational descriptive study in which all patients seen at the Public Network MSP for the enforcement of risk activities and strengthening health services in response will be involved will be made the dual epidemic and strengthen the activities of interprogrammatic collaboration between TB Program and HIV / AIDS - ITS. For these reasons, this study will determine the epidemiology of TB / HIV, to help improve monitoring a patient-led approach with HIV and TB. Also provide a better understanding of the impact of HIV on TB situation and the need to implement inter-programmatic activities between the two programs
Surface Activation of Titanium Dental Implants by Using UVC-LED Irradiation
Organic contaminants significantly limit the bioactivity of titanium implants, resulting in the degradation known as the ageing of titanium. To reactivate the surfaces, they can be photofunctionalized, i.e., irradiated with C-range ultraviolet (UVC) light. This descriptive in vitro study compares the effectiveness of novel light-emitting diode (LED) technology to remove contaminant hydrocarbons from three different commercially available titanium dental implants: THD, TiUnite, and SLA. The surface topography and morphology were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The chemical compositions were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), before and after the lighting treatment, by a pair of closely placed UVC (λ = 278 nm) and LED devices for 24 h. SEM analysis showed morphological differences at the macro- and micro-scopic level. XPS analysis showed a remarkable reduction in the carbon contents after the UVC treatment: from 25.6 to 19.5 C at. % (carbon atomic concentration) in the THD; from 30.2 to 20.2 C at. % in the TiUnite; from 26.1 to 19.2 C at. % in the SLA surface. Simultaneously, the concentration of oxygen and titanium increased. Therefore, LED-based UVC irradiation decontaminated titanium surfaces and improved the chemical features of them, regardless of the kind of surface. This research was funded by University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, PPGA18/5 Research Group and, supported by the Department of Education of the Basque Government within the fund for research groups of the Basque university system IT978-16
Proyecto de Graduación (Bachillerato en Ingeniería en Diseño Industrial) Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, Escuela de Diseño Industrial, 2017.The main goal of this research is the
design of an adjustable transtibial
socket, which has as main objective to
allow the adjustment during the use of
the prosthesis, which optimizes the
interaction between the user-product to
create comfort.
An amputee goes through several stages
during the process of recovery and
integration into the social environment,
which are not easy because in these
stages the person is in a constant
adaptation, both physical and
psychological.
Regarding to the physical adaptations,
there is a significant variation in the
condition of the residual limb, called
stump. So, constant visits to the doctor
will have to become part of the patient's
daily life, increasing the frequency of this
visits when the stump changes
dimensions unexpectedly, either by
decrease or increase in weight, or fluid
retention, among others.
According to data from the National
Prosthetic Center (CNP), appointments
for revision of the prosthesis are
scheduled in a period of one year, but
usually these are reschedul to 6 months
due to adjustment problems in the
prosthesis, mostly due to adjustment
problems. specifically between the
stump and the container in which it is
contained, called socket. In this
appointments methods such as pads are
implemented, and in most cases the
patient is advised to use extra sockings
to create a good fit with the socket.
These methods are only temporary
solutions to the big adjustment problem
There is a need of an adjustment
solution that converge with the activities
of the user, in order to facilitate full
reincorporation in the social field, such
as the patient's work.
We were able to define the
recommended areas of adjustment. This
means that fieldwork was done, as to
talk with experts in the field in order to
get a good design.
In addition, the technologies currently
used in Costa Rica for the development
of the socket were studied in order to
get the one that best matches the
production needs.
Also a study of the current adjustment
method was executed. This allowed us to
define some important characteristics
and limitations, in order to have better
knowledge of the market.
Then we began an exploration of ideas,
which were widely analyzed in order to
select the most appropriate. Once the
adjustment mechanism to be used was
select, the final design and its
characteristics were detailed, together
with the important information to
understand why we chose this design

Decontamination of Ti Oxide Surfaces by Using Ultraviolet Light: Hg-Vapor vs. LED-Based Irradiation
C-range Ultraviolet (UVC) mercury (Hg)-vapor lamps have shown the successful decontamination of hydrocarbons and antimicrobial effects from titanium surfaces. This study focused on surface chemistry modifications of titanium dental implants by using two different light sources, Hg-vapor lamps and Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), so as to compare the effectivity of both photofunctionalization technologies. Two different devices, a small Hg-vapor lamp (λ = 254 nm) and a pair of closely placed LEDs (λ = 278 nm), were used to irradiate the implants for 12 min. X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) was employed to characterize the chemical composition of the surfaces, analysing the samples before and after the lighting treatment, performing a wide and narrow scan around the energy peaks of carbon, oxygen and titanium. XPS analysis showed a reduction in the concentration of surface hydrocarbons in both UVC technologies from around 26 to 23.4 C at.% (carbon atomic concentration). Besides, simultaneously, an increase in concentration of oxygen and titanium was observed. LED-based UVC photofunctionalization has been suggested to be as effective a method as Hg-vapor lamps to remove the hydrocarbons from the surface of titanium dental implants. Therefore, due to the increase in worldwide mercury limitations, LED-based technology could be a good alternative decontamination source. This research was funded by University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, PPGA18/5 Research Group
