Protecting Quantum Information with Entanglement and Noisy Optical Modes
We incorporate active and passive quantum error-correcting techniques to
protect a set of optical information modes of a continuous-variable quantum
information system. Our method uses ancilla modes, entangled modes, and gauge
modes (modes in a mixed state) to help correct errors on a set of information
modes. A linear-optical encoding circuit consisting of offline squeezers,
passive optical devices, feedforward control, conditional modulation, and
homodyne measurements performs the encoding. The result is that we extend the
entanglement-assisted operator stabilizer formalism for discrete variables to
continuous-variable quantum information processing.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figur
Wicking behavior and drying capability of functional knitted fabrics
Liquid transporting and drying rate are
two vital factors affecting the physiological comfort
of sport garments. In this study, plated knitted fabrics
produced with functional fiber yarns in the
back of the knit (close to the body), combined with
polypropylene or polyester in the face (outer surface)
were tested in terms of their wicking behavior
and drying rate capacity. Functional knitted fabrics
were evaluated by vertical and horizontal wicking
tests. The drying capability was assessed by drying
rate tests under two different conditions, namely,
at 20±2°C and 65±3% relative humidity and, in
an oven, at 33±2°C, in order to simulate the
human body temperature. The influence of the
functional fiber used and that of the ground material,
polyester or polypropylene, was analyzed and

Sparticle masses in deflected mirage mediation
We discuss the sparticle mass patterns that can be realized in deflected
mirage mediation scenario of supersymmetry breaking, in which the moduli,
anomaly, and gauge mediations all contribute to the MSSM soft parameters.
Analytic expression of low energy soft parameters and also the sfermion mass
sum rules are derived, which can be used to interpret the experimentally
measured sparticle masses within the framework of the most general mixed
moduli-gauge-anomaly mediation. Phenomenological aspects of some specific

Clinical Characteristics and Neonatal Outcomes of Pregnant Patients With COVID-19: A Systematic Review
Background and Objective: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) characterized by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has created serious concerns about its potential adverse effects. There are limited data on clinical, radiological, and neonatal outcomes of pregnant women with COVID-19 pneumonia. This study aimed to assess clinical manifestations and neonatal outcomes of pregnant women with COVID-19. Methods: We conducted a systematic article search of PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Web of Science for studies that discussed pregnant patients with confirmed COVID-19 between January 1, 2020, and April 20, 2020, with no restriction on language. Articles were independently evaluated by two expert authors. We included all retrospective studies that reported the clinical features and outcomes of pregnant patients with COVID-19. Results: Forty-seven articles were assessed for eligibility; 13 articles met the inclusion criteria for the systematic review. Data is reported for 235 pregnant women with COVID-19. The age range of patients was 25�40 years, and the gestational age ranged from 8 to 40 weeks plus 6 days. Clinical characteristics were fever 138/235 (58.72%), cough 111/235 (47.23%), and sore throat 21/235 (8.93%). One hundred fifty six out of 235 (66.38%) pregnant women had cesarean section, and 79 (33.62%) had a vaginal delivery. All the patients showed lung abnormalities in CT scan images, and none of the patients died. Neutrophil cell count, C-reactive protein (CRP) concentration, ALT, and AST were increased but lymphocyte count and albumin levels were decreased. Amniotic fluid, neonatal throat swab, and breastmilk samples were taken to test for SARS-CoV-2 but all found negativ results. Recent published evidence showed the possibility of vertical transmission up to 30%, and neonatal death up to 2.5%. Pre-eclampsia, fetal distress, PROM, pre-mature delivery were the major complications of pregnant women with COVID-19. Conclusions: Our study findings show that the clinical, laboratory and radiological characteristics of pregnant women with COVID-19 were similar to those of the general populations. The possibility of vertical transmission cannot be ignored but C-section should not be routinely recommended anymore according to latest evidences and, in any case, decisions should be taken after proper discussion with the family. Evidence of Color Coherence Effects in W+jets Events from ppbar Collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV
We report the results of a study of color coherence effects in ppbar
collisions based on data collected by the D0 detector during the 1994-1995 run
of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, at a center of mass energy sqrt(s) = 1.8
TeV. Initial-to-final state color interference effects are studied by examining
particle distribution patterns in events with a W boson and at least one jet.
The data are compared to Monte Carlo simulations with different color coherence
implementations and to an analytic modified-leading-logarithm perturbative

our understanding of the pathophysiology
of primary headaches and provided
unique insights into these syndromes.
Modern imaging studies
point, together with the clinical picture,
towards a central triggering
cause. The early functional imaging
work using positron emission
tomography shed light on the genesis
of some syndromes, and has
recently been refined, implying that
the observed activation in migraine
(brainstem) and in several trigeminal-autonomic headaches (hypothalamic
grey) is involved in the pain
process in either a permissive or
triggering manner rather than simply
as a response to first-division nociception
per se. Using the advanced
method of voxel-based morphometry,
it has been suggested that there
is a correlation between the brain
area activated specifically in acute
cluster headache — the posterior
hypothalamic grey matter — and an
increase in grey matter in the same
region. No structural changes have
been found for migraine and medication
overuse headache, whereas
patients with chronic tension-type
headache demonstrated a significant
grey matter decrease in regions
known to be involved in pain processing.
Modern neuroimaging thus
clearly suggests that most primary
headache syndromes are predominantly
driven from the brain, activating
the trigeminovascular reflex and
needing therapeutics that act on both
sides: centrally and peripherally
Wnt signalling and cancer stem cells
[Abstract] Intracellular signalling mediated by secreted Wnt proteins is essential for the establishment of cell fates and proper tissue patterning during embryo development and for the regulation of tissue homeostasis and stem cell function in adult tissues. Aberrant activation of Wnt signalling pathways has been directly linked to the genesis of different tumours.
