Quality of blended learning within the scope of the bologna process

This article builds on existing data about the blended learning approach in higher education. It presents the theoretical framework and data of an empirical study conducted at the University of Porto in Portugal involving teachers who won the E-Learning Prize of Excellence in the period between 2006 and 2010. The main objective of this article is to contribute to an understanding of the value of blended learning within the scope of the Bologna Process which began in 2006 in this University. We consider blended learning as a flexible and integrated approach that combines different forms of communication in synchronous and asynchronous moments. To gather data, we conducted survey questionnaires among teachers and students as well as semistructured interviews and document analysis in a cyclical and interactive process of data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verifying. The research results highlight the importance of teacher intervention to create an environment that stimulates processes of cooperation, autonomy, social integration and the development of learning communities, important in this competitive world. © The Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology

Efecto de la esterilización comercial en el “adobo arequipeño” envasado

En el presente estudio se evaluó el efecto de la esterilización comercial en el adobo Arequipeño envasado en vidrio y hojalata. Se evaluaron las características de la carne de cerdo (fisicoquímica y microbiológica), sedimento de chicha de jora (microbiológica, pH y acidez), ají panca (pH y acidez) y cebolla (pH y acidez), una vez caracterizada la materia prima e insumos se mezcló para su maceración. La maceración se sometió a una temperatura de procesamiento de 121.1 °C por 34 min. a 15 PSI de presión, se realizó control de cierres de los envases de vidrios y hojalata. Los resultados obtenidos fisicoquímicamente, microbiológicamente y sensorialmente fueron comparados con un patrón que este caso fue el adobo preparado en el día. Se tuvo como resultado que no hay diferencia significativa fisicoquímicamente y microbiológicamente en ambos envases (vidrio – Hojalata). Los atributos sensoriales se evaluaron mediante el análisis descriptivo prueba del perfil del sabor con 9 panelistas entrenados, comparando las muestras con el plato preparado del día, se obtuvo mejores resultados con la muestra hojalata con pre cocción (lata cp) respecto al olor, color, sabor, consistencia de la salsa y textura de la carne

Root-Knot Nematode Species Associated with Horticultural Crops in the Island of Azores, Portugal

Plant-parasitic nematodes (PPN) are an economically important group of plant pests present throughout the world. In particular, root-knot nematodes (RKN), sedentary endoparasites of a wide variety of economically important hosts with the ability to survive in temperate regions. During 2020–2021 an extensive survey of Meloidogyne spp. was undertaken on the island of São Miguel Azores, Portugal. A total of 80 samples comprising 23 species of plants were collected from 13 localities in 4 districts of the island. Samples included field and greenhouse vegetable crops. Bioassays were carried out to obtain females and juveniles for morphological and biochemical characterization of the isolates. The observed morphological features showed high similarity and consistency with previous descriptions of the genus. Concerning the biochemical characterization, the esterase (EST) phenotype displayed the patterns described for M. incognita, M. arenaria, and M. javanica. Meloidogyne incognita was found to be the most prevalent species with respect to both natural host range and geographical distribution, followed by M. arenaria and M. javanica. A igualdade de género em São Tomé e Príncipe : entre a realidade e a utopia

Dissertação de Mestrado em Estudos sobre as Mulheres apresentada à Universidade AbertaEsta dissertação de Mestrado pretendeu incorrer no domínio do género e desenvolvimento em São Tomé e Príncipe. Pretendeu-se com este estudo, analisar e compreender a evolução do Movimento de Mulheres em São Tomé e Príncipe, nos períodos colonial e pós-colonial. Este último compreendeu duas etapas: a primeira república, de 1975 a 1990, em que só existia uma organização de mulheres e a segunda república, a partir de 1990, período a partir do qual surgiram outras Associações e Organizações da Sociedade Civil. O Governo de São Tomé e Príncipe adotou por Decreto, a partir de 2007, uma Estratégia Nacional para a Igualdade e Equidade de Género. Este estudo pretendeu saber como encaram as Associações de Mulheres e os dirigentes políticos e de Movimentos Sociais o modo como as políticas e os programas tomam em conta esses engajamentos/ compromissos assumidos. Procurou-se também saber como se posicionam mulheres e homens face à prática efetiva da igualdade de género, tendo em conta a existência de leis favoráveis à mesma. A abordagem metodológica englobou uma componente quantitativa e outra qualitativa. A componente quantitativa, foi levada a cabo com aplicação de inquéritos por questionário a uma amostra das Associações da Região do Príncipe. A componente qualitativa compreendeu a aplicação de inquéritos por entrevista a cinco líderes de diferentes contextos de intervenção política no país, sobre os assuntos em estudo. Os dados das entrevistas foram tratados de acordo com a análise de conteúdo, tendo as categorias de análise emergido da análise dos questionários e dos discursos dos participantes. Este estudo exploratório revelou que a análise das políticas e dos mecanismos para a igualdade bem como o enquadramento jurídico-legal e as conclusões obtidas no estudo empírico, embora não possam ser generalizadas, permitiram encontrar uma luz para as questões colocadas inicialmente sobre a perceção sobre os movimentos de mulheres e a igualdade de género em São Tomé e Príncipe.This Master’s Thesis intended to apply in the field of gender and development in Sao Tomé and Principe. The purpose of this study is to analyze, and, to understand the evolution of Women Movement in Sao Tomé and Principe, in both colonial and post-colonial periods. This last one comprised two steps: the first republic, from 1975 to 1990, where there was only one women organization, and, the second republic, from 1990, time where other Associations, and, organizations of Civil Society have emerged. The Government of Sao Tomé and Principe have adopted by Decree, from 2007, a National Strategy from Equality and Gender Equity. This Study aimed to find out the vision of the Women Association, political leaders, and, Social Movement leaders, and, how policies and programs have not taken into consideration those agreed commitments. We also looked into the position of women and men about the effective practice of gender equality, given the existence of favorable laws. The methodological approach comprised both quantitative, and, qualitative component. The qualitative component was done by the application of surveys by questionnaire to a sample of Associations from the Region of Principe. The qualitative component has involved the application of surveys by interviewing 5 leaders on different context of political intervention in the country, on subjects under study. Interview data were treated according to the analysis of substance, and, categories of analysis have emerged from questionnaires analysis, and, participants speeches. This exploratory study revealed that the analyses of policies and mechanisms for equality and the legal and regulatory framework and findings from the empirical study, although cannot be generalized, allowed to find a light to the issues initially placed about women’s organizations and gender equality in S.Tomé and Principe

Ethical aspects environmental education: interdisciplinary view for the common good

[Resumo] Este trabalho desenvolve-se com olhar interdisciplinar, na perspectiva de que, ao englobar diversos modos de interpretar o mundo, podemos ampliar nossa compreensão e transformar as práticas. Com contribuições do campo das ciências biológicas, sociais, humanas e da filosofia, nos dedicamos à educação socioambiental, como um modo de coordenar as ações das comunidades em seu cuidado com os recursos de bem comum. A educação implica considerar o que pode ser conservado e o que ser transformado. O foco interdisciplinar repousa no campo da ética, em valores que primam pela cooperação, por singularidades, relações sociais, cuidado com a vida. Partimos da visão aristotélica de que a justiça é efetivada por ações que se propõem a produzir e preservar, para a sociedade política, a felicidade pautada no bem comum. Nossa investigação - educação em valores pró-ambientais - desenvolve-se em uma comunidade por meio de metodologia participativa - pesquisação - com a qual se organiza um coletivo participativo. Os encaminhamentos e discussões propostos giram em torno de orientação, conscientização e motivação em relação à reciclagem do lixo. Trabalhamos na perspectiva de um contra-modelo, pois ao recuperar os comuns resgatam-se também questões como produção econômica, cooperação social, participação individual, idealismo ético.[Abstract] his paper evolves with an interdisciplinary look at the perspective that, by gathering various ways of interpreting the world, we can expand our understanding and transform practices. With contributions from the field of biological, social sciences, humanities and philosphy, we are committed to social-environmental education as way of coordinating community actions to care for common resources. Education imply take into consideration what can be preserved and what can be transformed. The interdisciplinary focus lies in the scope of ethics, in values that strive for cooperation, for singularities, social relations, care for life. We begin from the Aristotelian point of view that justice is accomplished by actions that intend to produce and preserve, for political society, happiness driven by common good. Our research - education in pro-environmental values - develops in a community through a participative methodology - systematic investigation - in which it organizes into a participative collective. Orientations and discussions presented here revolve around consciousness, guidance and motivation regarding waste recycling. We work from the perspective of a counter-model; by recovering ordinary people, we also rescue issues such as economic output, social cooperation, individual participation, ethical idealism
