El archivo, el trabajador mexicano y el acceso a la informaciĂłn pĂșblica
Mexican public administrationâs archives are immersed in a bureaucracy whose functioning depends on the following of norms, rules and procedures, in addition to the concept of rationality in the employee. In this context, if the responsible of the archives, from his own set values, considers that âsociety must have an efficient access to public informationâ then it is necessary for the people involved to be aware of the three following premises: the moral value the institution assumes regarding the significance of the information as well as its use, the importance of organization in the archives and the characteristics in the psychological contract with the employee, primarily a value that as Mexicans distinguishes them: loyalty. It can be concluded that only by these means can one begin to think seriously about societyâs equal access to public informationLos archivos de la administraciĂłn pĂșblica mexicana se encuentran inmersos en una burocracia que centra su funcionamiento en el seguimiento de normas, reglas y procedimientos, asĂ como en el concepto de racionalidad del empleado. Assembling the dead, gathering the living: Radiocarbon dating and bayesian modelling for copper age valencina de la concepcioĂłn (Seville, Spain)
The great site of Valencina de la ConcepciĂłn, near Seville in the lower Guadalquivir valley of southwest Spain, is presented in the context of debate about the nature of Copper Age society in southern Iberia as a whole. Many aspects of the layout, use, character and development of Valencina remain unclear, just as there are major unresolved questions about the kind of society represented there and in southern Iberia, from the late fourth to the late third millennium cal BC. This paper discusses 178 radiocarbon dates, from 17 excavated sectors within the c. 450 ha site, making it the best dated in later Iberian prehistory as a whole. Dates are modelled in a Bayesian statistical framework. The resulting formal date estimates provide the basis for both a new epistemological approach to the site and a much more detailed narrative of its development than previously available. Beginning in the 32nd century cal BC, a long-lasting tradition of simple, mainly collective and often successive burial was established at the site. Mud-vaulted tholoi appear to belong to the 29th or 28th centuries cal BC; large stone-vaulted tholoi such as La Pastora appear to date later in the sequence. There is plenty of evidence for a wide range of other activity, but no clear sign of permanent, large-scale residence or public buildings or spaces. Results in general support a model of increasingly competitive but ultimately unstable social relations, through various phases of emergence, social competition, display and hierarchisation, and eventual decline, over a period of c. 900 years.Acknowledgements Thanks are due to: the Archaeology Museum of Seville and especially Ana Navarro Ortega (director) and Juan Ignacio Vallejo (curator) for their assistance when sampling; Isabel Santana FalcĂłn for the photo of El Algarrobillo; Penny Bickle, Seren Griffiths and Jessica Smyth for help with sample selection and collection; and Marta Cintas-Peña for help with final editing. Taxonomic variations in the gut microbiome of gout patients with and without tophi might have a functional impact on urate metabolism
[Objective] To evaluate the taxonomic composition of the gut microbiome in gout patients with and without tophi formation, and predict bacterial functions that might have an impact on urate metabolism.[Methods] Hypervariable V3âV4 regions of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene from fecal samples of gout patients with and without tophi (nâ=â33 and nâ=â25, respectively) were sequenced and compared to fecal samples from 53 healthy controls. We explored predictive functional profiles using bioinformatics in order to identify differences in taxonomy and metabolic pathways.
[Results] We identified a microbiome characterized by the lowest richness and a higher abundance of Phascolarctobacterium, Bacteroides, Akkermansia, and Ruminococcus_gnavus_group genera in patients with gout without tophi when compared to controls. The Proteobacteria phylum and the Escherichia-Shigella genus were more abundant in patients with tophaceous gout than in controls. Fold change analysis detected nine genera enriched in healthy controls compared to gout groups (Bifidobacterium, Butyricicoccus, Oscillobacter, Ruminococcaceae_UCG_010, Lachnospiraceae_ND2007_group, Haemophilus, Ruminococcus_1, Clostridium_sensu_stricto_1, and Ruminococcaceae_UGC_013). We found that the core microbiota of both gout groups shared Bacteroides caccae, Bacteroides stercoris ATCC 43183, and Bacteroides coprocola DSM 17136. These bacteria might perform functions linked to one-carbon metabolism, nucleotide binding, amino acid biosynthesis, and purine biosynthesis. Finally, we observed differences in key bacterial enzymes involved in urate synthesis, degradation, and elimination.
[Conclusion] Our findings revealed that taxonomic variations in the gut microbiome of gout patients with and without tophi might have a functional impact on urate metabolism. This study was supported by the Instituto Nacional de RehabilitaciĂłn Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarraâ and the Grant INF-2016-01-269675 from the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y TecnologĂa (CONACYT)

CIBERER : Spanish national network for research on rare diseases: A highly productive collaborative initiative
Altres ajuts: Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII); Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación.CIBER (Center for Biomedical Network Research; Centro de Investigación Biomédica En Red) is a public national consortium created in 2006 under the umbrella of the Spanish National Institute of Health Carlos III (ISCIII). This innovative research structure comprises 11 different specific areas dedicated to the main public health priorities in the National Health System. CIBERER, the thematic area of CIBER focused on rare diseases (RDs) currently consists of 75 research groups belonging to universities, research centers, and hospitals of the entire country. CIBERER's mission is to be a center prioritizing and favoring collaboration and cooperation between biomedical and clinical research groups, with special emphasis on the aspects of genetic, molecular, biochemical, and cellular research of RDs. This research is the basis for providing new tools for the diagnosis and therapy of low-prevalence diseases, in line with the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC) objectives, thus favoring translational research between the scientific environment of the laboratory and the clinical setting of health centers. In this article, we intend to review CIBERER's 15-year journey and summarize the main results obtained in terms of internationalization, scientific production, contributions toward the discovery of new therapies and novel genes associated to diseases, cooperation with patients' associations and many other topics related to RD research
Reducing the environmental impact of surgery on a global scale: systematic review and co-prioritization with healthcare workers in 132 countries
Abstract
Background
Healthcare cannot achieve net-zero carbon without addressing operating theatres. The aim of this study was to prioritize feasible interventions to reduce the environmental impact of operating theatres.
Methods
This study adopted a four-phase Delphi consensus co-prioritization methodology. In phase 1, a systematic review of published interventions and global consultation of perioperative healthcare professionals were used to longlist interventions. In phase 2, iterative thematic analysis consolidated comparable interventions into a shortlist. In phase 3, the shortlist was co-prioritized based on patient and clinician views on acceptability, feasibility, and safety. In phase 4, ranked lists of interventions were presented by their relevance to high-income countries and lowâmiddle-income countries.
Results
In phase 1, 43 interventions were identified, which had low uptake in practice according to 3042 professionals globally. In phase 2, a shortlist of 15 intervention domains was generated. In phase 3, interventions were deemed acceptable for more than 90 per cent of patients except for reducing general anaesthesia (84 per cent) and re-sterilization of âsingle-useâ consumables (86 per cent). In phase 4, the top three shortlisted interventions for high-income countries were: introducing recycling; reducing use of anaesthetic gases; and appropriate clinical waste processing. In phase 4, the top three shortlisted interventions for lowâmiddle-income countries were: introducing reusable surgical devices; reducing use of consumables; and reducing the use of general anaesthesia.
Conclusion
This is a step toward environmentally sustainable operating environments with actionable interventions applicable to both highâ and lowâmiddleâincome countries

Abstract: The present article narrates the process of gestation and creation of the Intercultural University of the Southern People, IUSP, which was born as a result of originary people necessity to form their own intellectuals, to be able to generate and control their own process of local development. Those people are settled at the Guerrero state, Mexico. The conceptual framework from where the IUSP is formulated is an intercultural dialogue to lead to spaces of creation and recreation of cultures and worldÂŽs visions, in perspective to open horizons of decolonization. The IUSP is the result of the confluence of diverse processes and social struggles that Nahua, Mixteco, Tlapaneco, Amuzgo and Afromexican people have given for their rights recognition and to arrange, in an autonomous way, their projects for the future
