Inclusive measurement of Mathematical expression annihilation at rest in gaseous hydrogen to final states containing ρ and f2

Antiproton annihilation at rest in gaseous hydrogen (16 bar pressure) to the final states ρ(770)X and f2(1270)X, where X stands for one or more neutral mesons, has been studied at LEAR using the CPLEAR detector. Relative branching ratios are given for X =π0,2 π0, 3 π0 ω in the ρ case, and for X =π0, η in the f2 case. The annihilation channel Mathematical expression has not been measured before. The fraction of P-wave annihilation is deduced from the ratio f2π0/ρπ0 to be 0.38±0.07, in good agreement with the result previously obtained by CPLEAR from the ratio K+K-/π+π-. © 1995 Springer-Verlag
