    Get PDF

In this study, Taguchi design was used to determine optimal parameters for the preparation of bovine serum albumin (BSA)-loaded nanoparticles (NPs) using a biodegradable polymer poly(glycerol adipate-co-ω-pentadecalactone) (PGA-co-PDL). NPs were prepared, using BSA as a model protein, by the double emulsion evaporation process followed by spray-drying from leucine to form nanocomposite microparticles (NCMPs). The effect of various parameters on NP size and BSA loading were investigated and dendritic cell (DC) uptake and toxicity. NCMPs were examined for their morphology, yield, aerosolisation, in vitro release behaviour and BSA structure. NP size was mainly affected by the polymer mass used and a small particle size ≤500 nm was achieved. High BSA (43.67 ± 2.3 μg/mg) loading was influenced by BSA concentration. The spray-drying process produced NCMPs (50% yield) with a porous corrugated surface, aerodynamic diameter 1.46 ± 141 μm, fine particle dose 45.0 ± 4.7 μg and fine particle fraction 78.57 ± 0.1%, and a cumulative BSA release of 38.77 ± 3.0% after 48 h. The primary and secondary structures were maintained as shown by sodium dodecyl sulphate poly (acrylamide) gel electrophoresis and circular dichroism. Effective uptake of NPs was seen in DCs with >85% cell viability at 5 mg/mL concentration after 4 h. These results indicate the optimal process parameters for the preparation of protein-loaded PGA-co-PDL NCMPs suitable for inhalation. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. and the American Pharmacists Association J Pharm Sci

Microneedles: A New Frontier in Nanomedicine Delivery

    Get PDF
This review aims to concisely chart the development of two individual research fields, namely nanomedicines, with specific emphasis on nanoparticles (NP) and microparticles (MP), and microneedle (MN) technologies, which have, in the recent past, been exploited in combinatorial approaches for the efficient delivery of a variety of medicinal agents across the skin. This is an emerging and exciting area of pharmaceutical sciences research within the remit of transdermal drug delivery and as such will undoubtedly continue to grow with the emergence of new formulation and fabrication methodologies for particles and MN. Firstly, the fundamental aspects of skin architecture and structure are outlined, with particular reference to their influence on NP and MP penetration. Following on from this, a variety of different particles are described, as are the diverse range of MN modalities currently under development. The review concludes by highlighting some of the novel delivery systems which have been described in the literature exploiting these two approaches and directs the reader towards emerging uses for nanomedicines in combination with MN

Treball Final de Grau en Economia. Codi: EC1049. Curs acadèmic 2015-2016The importance of telecommunications in the global economy is increasing over the years. Economic growth is influenced by the use of mobile phones in both the developed and developing countries. In this study, we examine the effect of mobile phones in economic growth in the Maghreb (Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Mauritania and Morocco). To do this, we have used panel data model for the period between 2005 to 2014. On the basis of research, we conclude that the impact of mobile telephony in the economic growth of Maghreb is not significant for the period under analyisis

----------ABSTRACT---------- Even with the numerous legislative changes that Vocational Training (VT) has had today, it is still quite predominant to find enrolled students who have no interest in it. A large part of society still sees VT as the itinerary that students who fail in secondary school should follow. The practices of the Master in Secondary School Training where made in the classes of VT. There has decided to realize a didactic proposal in first of Half Cycle. It has been the most unmotivated class of those analyzed, as indicated in the development of the present Final Project. Therefore, it is important to analyze the factors that influence the motivation of students to learn. Not losing sight of the indispensable work that the teacher has when it comes to focusing the teaching-learning process. After analyzing aspects of motivation will indicate the goals that students usually present and some ideas to be taken into account by teachers when designing their activities. To conclude, a motivating activity is presented. It is designed for the first weeks of the course at the beginning of it. In this way it is intended that the student is interested in their studies and not abandon them, but to get involved in them
