    AbstractThe cytosolic, alkaline RNase in rat vaginal epithelial cells (VEC) from normal, immature rats was found to be present largely in the free, active form unlike in many other mammalian tissues where it is known to be present in a latent form as a complex with RNase inhibitor (RNasin). Estradiol (E2) administration induced expression of RNasin activity in the VEC from such animals and caused virtually total inhibition of cytosolic RNase activity in these cells by 12 h after the hormone injection. These changes may have metabolic implications in relation to other biochemical events stimulated by estradiol in rat VEC

    Analysis and Design of Cellular Beam and its Verification

    AbstractThe behavior of cellular beam is described using design methods according to BS: 5950, considering particularly the strength of tee sections and web post element. Such behavior is derived from parametric study involving finite element analysis using software ANSYS. The design method is based on plastic analysis of beam section at ultimate loads and elastic analysis at serviceability loads. The procedure of design of cellular beam is illustrated and an example based on design method is worked out and its verification is done for checking the suitability

    Customer Specific Transaction Risk Management in eCommerce

    Increasing potential for turnover in e-commerce is inextricably linked with an increase in risk. Online retailers (e-tailers), aiming for a company-wide value orientation should manage this risk. However, current approaches to risk management either use average retail prices elevated by an overall risk premium or restrict the payment methods offered to customers. Thus, they neglect customer-specific value and risk attributes and leave turnover potentials unconsidered. To close this gap, an innovative valuation model is proposed in this contribution that integrates customer-specific risk and potential turnover. The approach presented evaluates different payment methods using their risk-turnover characteristic, provides a risk-adjusted decision basis for selecting payment methods and allows e-tailers to derive automated risk management decisions per customer and transaction without reducing turnover potential

    Semilocal Convergence Analysis of an Iteration of Order Five Using Recurrence Relations in Banach Spaces

    [EN] Semilocal convergence for an iteration of order five for solving nonlinear equations in Banach spaces is established under second-order Fr,chet derivative satisfying the Lipschitz condition. It is done by deriving a number of recurrence relations. A theorem for the existence-uniqueness along with the estimation of error bounds of the solution is established. Its R-order is shown to be equal to five. Both efficiency and computational efficiency indices are given. A variety of examples are worked out to show its applicability. In comparison to existing methods having similar R-orders, improved results in terms of computational efficiency index and error bounds are found using our methodology.The authors thank the referees for their valuable comments which have improved the presentation of the paper.     A terminal assessment of stages theory : introducing a dynamic states approach to entrepreneurship

    Stages of Growth models were the most frequent theoretical approach to understanding entrepreneurial business growth from 1962 to 2006; they built on the growth imperative and developmental models of that time. An analysis of the universe of such models (N=104) published in the management literature shows no consensus on basic constructs of the approach, nor is there any empirical confirmations of stages theory. However, by changing two propositions of the stages models, a new dynamic states approach is derived. The dynamic states approach has far greater explanatory power than its precursor, and is compatible with leading edge research in entrepreneurship

    Preparation and in vitro Evaluation of Ethylcellulose Coated Egg Albumin Microspheres of Diltiazem Hydrochloride

    The aim of the present investigation was to develop sustained release ethylcellulose-coated egg albumin microspheres of diltiazem hydrochloride (DH) to improve patient compliance. The microspheres were prepared by the w/o emulsion thermal cross-linking method using different proportion of the polymer to drug ratio (1.0:1.0, 1.0:1.5 and 1.0:2.0). A 32 full factorial design was employed to optimize two independent variables, polymer to drug ratio (X1) and surfactant concentration (X2) on dependent variables, namely % drug loading, % drug release in 60 min (Y60) and the time required for 80 % drug release (t80) were selected as dependable variable. Optimized formulation was compared to its sustained release tablet available in market. The polymer to drug ratio was optimized to 1:1 at which a high drug entrapment efficiency 79.20% ± 0.7% and the geometric mean diameter 47.30 ± 1.5 mm were found. All batches showed a biphasic release pattern; initial burst release effect (55% DH in 1 h) and then were released completely within 6 h. In situ coating of optimized egg albumin DH microspheres using 7.5% ethylcellulose significantly reduced the burst effect and provided a slow release of DH for 8-10 h. Finally, it was concluded that ethylcellulose-coated egg albumin DH microspheres is suitable for oral SR devices in the treatment of angina pectoris, cardiac arrhythmias, and hypertension due to their size and release profile
