Human Error Management Paying Emphasis on Decision Making and Social Intelligence -Beyond the Framework of Man-Machine Interface Design-
How latent error or violation induces a serious accident has been reviewed and a proper addressing measure of this has been proposed in the framework of decision making, emotional intelligence (EI) and social intelligence (SI) of organization and its members. It has been clarified that EI and SI play an important role in decision making. Violations frequently occur all over the world, although we definitely understand that we should not commit violations, and a secret to prevent this might exist in the enhancement of both social intelligence and reliability. The construction of social structure or system that supports organizational efforts to enhance both social intelligence and reliability would be essential. Traditional safety education emphasizes that it is possible to change attitudes or mind toward safety by means of education. In spite of this, accidents or scandals frequently occur and never decrease. These problems must be approached on the basis of the full understanding of social intelligence and limited reasonability in decision making. Social dilemma (We do not necessarily cooperate in spite of understanding its importance, and we sometimes make decision not to select cooperative behavior. Non-cooperation gives rise to a desirable result for an individual. However, if all take non-cooperative actions, undesirable results are finally induced to all.) must be solved in some ways and the transition from relief (closed) society to global (reliability) society must be realized as a whole. New social system, where cooperative relation can be easily and reliably obtained, must be constructed to support such an approach and prevent violation-based accidents
Instabilities of Kerr-AdS_5 x S^5 Spacetime
We study gravitational perturbations of the Kerr-AdS_5 x S^5 spacetime with
equal angular momenta. In this spacetime, we found the two kinds of classical
instabilities, superradiant and Gregory-Laflamme instabilities. The
superradiant instability is caused by the wave amplification via superradiance,
and by wave reflection due to the potential barrier of the AdS spacetime. The
Gregory-Laflamme instability appears in Kaluza-Klein modes of the internal
space S^5 and breaks the symmetry SO(6). Taken into account these
instabilities, the phase structure of Kerr-AdS_5 x S^5 spacetime is revealed.
The implication for the AdS/CFT correspondence is also discussed.Comment: 30 pages, 7 figure
Syntax and semantics of the nominals mono and koto in Japanese : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Japanese at Massey University
There is a group of words which are usually referred to as keisiki-meisi (i.e. formal nouns) in Japanese. The formal noun is defined as a noun which does not have a substantive meaning, and is not used in isolation, but requires a preceding modifier. In this thesis, examinations of various aspects of the Japanese nouns mono and koto, which are widely acknowledged as typical examples of formal noun, will be presented. Mono and koto occur with a variety of terms to produce additional derivatives. For example, when the copula da is attached to mono or koto at the end of a sentence, it becomes a sentence-final modality which strongly reflects the speaker's emotions or feelings. However, owing to the fact that mono and koto are also used on occasion as substantive nouns without preceding modifiers, scholars tend to merely clarify the boundary between the use of mono or koto as a substantive noun, and its use as a formal noun, giving two separate labels to the same noun. In this study, the existence of continuity between these two usages - substantive and formal - is hypothesised. The syntactic and semantic features observed throughout the derivative forms of mono and koto offer a chance to explore and identify the unifying features of the two different usages. It is also demonstrated that, viewed in the light of the framework of grammaticalisation, the category 'formal noun' is only a label that has been put onto a group of nouns which can be grammaticalised or which have already been grammaticalised
Bernoulli-type Relations in Some Noncommutative Polynomial Ring
We find particular relations which we call "Bernoulli-type" in some
noncommutative polynomial ring with a single nontrivial relation. More
precisely, our ring is isomorphic to the universal enveloping algebra of a
two-dimensional non-abelian Lie algebra. From these Bernoulli-type relations in
our ring, we can obtain a representation on a certain left ideal with the
Bernoulli numbers as structure constants.Comment: 19 page
Dynamics of gas sphere under self-gravity
A new dynamical solution for a gas sphere under self-gravity is presented to
describe a development of a gas sphere from a motion-less state to a state of
expansion with a constant speed and a reflection phenomenon in the dynamics of
the surface of the sphere.Comment: 6 pages, 4figure
An Approach to Higher Dimensional Theories Based on Lattice Gauge Theory
A higher dimensional lattice space can be decomposed into a number of
four-dimensional lattices called as layers. The higher dimensional gauge theory
on the lattice can be interpreted as four-dimensional gauge theories on the
multi-layer with interactions between neighboring layers. We propose the new
possibility to realize the continuum limit of a five-dimensional theory based
on the property of the phase diagram.Comment: Lattice2003(higgs
