Lengua e historia: la presencia canaria en Santo Domingo

Irene Pérez Guerra (biografía) La autora, dominicana, tiene una licenciatura en letras modernas (mención lingüística) y una maestría en lingüística y etnología por la Universidad de Provenza (Aix-Marsella I), Francia. Posteriormente, en la Universidad de Valladolid (España), obtuvo un doctorado en filología hispánica, recibiendo su tesis la máxima calificación. Sus reconocidos méritos la han llevado a dedicarse a la enseñanza a nivel universitario tanto en centros extranjeros como nacionales. Pero también ha trabajado como consultora, asesora e investigadora de proyectos relevantes en el área de la lingüística y de la educación en sentido general. Ha formado parte del Comité Consultivo del Diccionario Académico de Americanismos de la Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española y es miembro de número de la Academia Dominicana de la Lengua (la primera mujer en ocupar un puesto como académica en esta institución). De la Academia de Ciencias de la República Dominicana es también miembro regular. En esta universidad, fue coordinadora general del Proyecto de Mejora de la Enseñanza del Español, "Unilingua-UNAPEC". Entre sus numerosas publicaciones se encuentran "Historia y lengua: la presencia canaria en Santo Domingo", "Estado actual de los estudios lingüísticos y filológicos de la República Dominicana", "Temas literarios" y una gran cantidad de artículos especializados en importantes revistas.Como bien se sabe, la participación de canarios en el proceso de colonización del Nuevo Mundo fue muy importante. Esto se debió a que la Corona española eximió a los moradores de las también llamadas "Islas Afortunadas" de todos los requisitos exigidos a los procedentes de Castilla y de otras regiones españolas. De hecho, se usó la migración canaria hacia tierras americanas para combatir problemas como la despoblación de ciertas zonas en conflicto, la ocupación de territorios por parte de otras potencias europeas, la disminución de la población hispana blanca y el estado de pobreza en las propias islas españolas. A partir de este marco general fue que Irene Pérez Guerra, la autora de este artículo, se propuso investigar la trascendencia lingüística que tuvo ese flujo poblacional en el español de Santo Domingo y, específicamente, de la comunidad de Sabana de la Mar. Tres principales descubrimientos arrojó su investigación: 1) que la mayoría de las coincidencias en el vocabulario tienen que ver sobre todo con Tenerife, Gran Canaria y La Palma (en segundo término estarían Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Gomera y El Hierro); 2) que los campos semánticos donde más se producen esas coincidencias son los referidos al cuerpo humano, a los fenómenos atmosféricos, los animales domésticos, los vegetales y los cultivos agrícolas; y 3) que por esa vía se introdujeron en el español dominicano un gran número de portuguesismos léxicos. De acuerdo con la autora del libro "Historia y lengua. La presencia canaria en Santo Domingo. El caso de Sabana de la Mar", los procesos de acomodación lingüística que estudió pueden ser extrapolables a otros territorios de América en los que se verificaron similares mecanismos de repoblación

La intervención administrativa en el sector turístico español: La política turística

En el presente trabajo he pretendido estudiar el complejo entramado de la intervención administrativa sobre el sector turístico español. En este sentido he partido de analizar la evolución de la legislación turística, su tipología organizativa, la distribución de competencias; así como la política turística española y de la UniónEuropea. De manera concreta, y respecto a esta última, se han analizado sus precedentes, estos son: el Plan Marco de Competitividad del Turismo Español (1992-1995) —conocido como Plan Futures I—, el Plan Marco de Competitividad del Turismo Español (1996-1999) —conocido como Plan Futures II—, el Plan Estratégico de la Política Turística Española (2000-2016) —conocido como PICTE—, y el Plan Español Horizonte 2020 (2008-2011); además del actual Plan Nacional e Integral de Turismo (2012-2016). De esta forma se trata de configurar las estructuras jurídicas del sector turístico en España, y para ello se ha ofrecido una visión actual de situación en la vertebración del Derecho administrativo del turismo de nuestro país.The aim of this paper is to deal with the problem that implies the administrative intervention over the tourism in Spain. In this sense, stars considering the evolution of the legislation relating to tourism, its organisation and the distribution of competences between the different Autonomous Regions and the Central Government. Object-Verb in Early Modern English: Modelling markedness

Although Verb-Object (VO) is the basic unmarked constituent order of predicates in Present-Day English, in earlier stages of the language Object-Verb (OV) is the preferred pattern in some syntactic contexts. OV predicates are significantly frequent in Old and Middle English, and are still attested up to 1550, when they “appear to dwindle away” (Moerenhout & van der Wurff 2005: 83). This study looks at OV in Early Modern English (EModE), using a corpus-based perspective and statistical modelling to explore a number of textual, syntactic, and semantic/processing variables which may account for what by that time had already become a marked, though not yet archaic, word-order pattern. The data for the study were retrieved from the Penn-Helsinki Parsed Corpus of Early Modern English (1500–1710) and the Parsed Corpus of Early English Correspondence (c.1410–1695), the largest electronic parsed collections of EModE texts. The findings reveal a preference for OV in speech-related text types, which are less constrained by the rules of grammar, in marked syntactic contexts, and in configurations not subject to the general linearisation principles of end-weight and given-new. An empirical study on word order in predicates: on syntax, processing and information in native and learner English

[EN] This study focuses on the linearisation of verbal complements (or arguments) and adjuncts (or modifiers) in learner advanced English. The analysis is based on minimal pairs of sequences of complements and adjuncts in predicates, as in He will investigate [the construction] [in a somewhat strange way which will lead to odd results] versus He will investigate [in a somewhat strange way which will lead to odd results] [the construction]. Constituent linearisation has been claimed to be potentially subject to lexical, syntactic, processing and informative determinants. This paper analyses the influence of the verbal heads and the principles ‘complements-first’, ‘end-weight’ and ‘given-new’ on the production of predicates containing two dependents. The study has two objectives: first, to determine in which areas the ordering of such constituents in English by non-native speakers is particularly influenced by their first language (Spanish); second, to assess the plausibility of the Interface Hypothesis in a pattern which affects the so-called internal and external interfaces. Percepción del riesgo alimentario por el consumidor

La incidencia de alertas o crisis alimentarias están afectando a la confianza del consumidor. Ésto ha provocado un incremento en la preocupación por la seguridad alimentaria. Para velar por la seguridad alimentaria, se han creado organismos como la Autoridad Europea de Seguridad Alimentaria (EFSA) y a nivel nacional, la Agencia Española de Consumo, Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutrición (AECOSAN). Entre sus funciones estarán, ofrecer garantías a los consumidores, mediante comunicados claros, comprensibles y útiles y poder evaluar la percepción del riesgo en alimentos por parte del consumidor actual. La percepción del riesgo está asociada no solo a la comunicación del riesgo sino también a factores psicológicos o culturales del consumidor. Es tanta su importancia que la EFSA junto con la Dirección General de Salud y Protección de los Consumidores de la Comisión Europea realizó una encuesta al respecto tanto en 2005 como en 2010, denominadas “Special Eurobarometer” 238 y 354, respectivamente. Por este motivo, el objetivo de nuestro estudio va a consistir en realizar una encuesta a nivel nacional en base al modelo Eurobarómetro 2010, con el fin de estudiar la percepción del riesgo alimentario desde varios puntos de vista. Primero analizaremos el nivel de preocupación que provoca en el consumidor los diferentes riesgos alimentarios propuestos, en los que podremos deducir que el tipo de respuesta va a estar condicionada por la edad, el sexo y el nivel de estudios. Los resultados se han comparado con los del Eurobárometro 2005, 2010 y 2019, ofrecidos por EFSA. Se analiza la confianza en las autoridades competentes y se establece qué tipo de reacción es mostrada por el consumidor, frente a noticias sobre alimentos inseguros, que provocan un rechazo no permanente del alimento. El artículo realiza un análisis crítico de la reciente reforma llevada a cabo en Colombia en la Ley General de Turismo. An empirical evaluation of a set of recommendations for extrasensory perception experimental research

One of the main criticisms of extrasensory perception (ESP) research is the lack of replication of positive results across laboratories. In this paper we report a study (N=100) where we tested a set of practices recommended by researchers in the area in order to develop a robust 'recipe' for ESP experimental research. In an experimental condition that included these practices we observed a 30% rate of correct guesses (z=0.82, p=0.21, one tailed) compared to a 22% rate observed in a control condition (z=-0.49, p=0.31, one-tailed). It is discussed how results obtained so far, with free-response protocols, are not strong enough to fully satisfy mainstream science

La selección de la variable principal y su relación con el tamaño de la muestra en los ensayos clínicos de biomateriales

La eficacia y la seguridad en la utilización de un biomaterial se demuestran, finalmente, en ensayos clínicos controlados, ya que la utilización de un grupo control es la única forma de evaluar realmente el efecto del nuevo tratamiento respecto a la regresión espontánea o en relación con un tratamiento ya establecido. El cálculo del número de sujetos necesario dependerá de la variable principal escogida para evaluar el tratamiento, debido a que su selección incide directamente en la eficacia y el beneficio d esperado con el nuevo tratamiento. El tamaño de la muestra depende, además, del riesgo de concluir una diferencia que no existe (a) y del riesgo de no poner en evidencia un beneficio al menos igual d aunque él exista (b). La inclusión de una cantidad excesiva de pacientes en un ensayo trae un alargamiento innecesario del periodo de inclusión, gasto excesivo de materiales y puede involucrar hasta problemas éticos. Por el contrario, una cantidad insuficiente puede traer como resultado la imposibilidad de demostrar científicamente la hipótesis planteada. En este trabajo se observa como, la selección adecuada de la variable principal permite demostrar estadísticamente la superioridad del adhesivo tisular TISUACRYL, respecto a la sutura en dos ensayos clínicos en Cirugía Bucal, con la inclusión del mínimo número de pacientes.Peer Reviewe
