Precise Modeling of the Exoplanet Host Star and CoRoT Main Target HD 52265
This paper presents a detailed and precise study of the characteristics of
the Exoplanet Host Star and CoRoT main target HD 52265, as derived from
asteroseismic studies. The results are compared with previous estimates, with a
comprehensive summary and discussion. The basic method is similar to that
previously used by the Toulouse group for solar-type stars. Models are computed
with various initial chemical compositions and the computed p-mode frequencies
are compared with the observed ones. All models include atomic diffusion and
the importance of radiative accelerations is discussed. Several tests are used,
including the usual frequency combinations and the fits of the \'echelle
diagrams. The possible surface effects are introduced and discussed. Automatic
codes are also used to find the best model for this star (SEEK, AMP) and their
results are compared with that obtained with the detailed method. We find
precise results for the mass, radius and age of this star, as well as its
effective temperature and luminosity. We also give an estimate of the initial
helium abundance. These results are important for the characterization of the

Influence of health literacy on maintenance of exclusive breastfeeding at 6 months postpartum: a multicentre study
Background: International organizations recommend initiating breastfeeding within the first hour of life and maintaining exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months. However, worldwide rates of exclusive breastfeeding for 6-month-old infants is far from meeting the goal proposed by the World Health Organization, which is to reach a minimum of 50% of infants. Education is one of the factors affecting the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding, and incidentally, it is also related to lower health literacy. This study explored the influence of health literacy on maintenance of exclusive breastfeeding at 6 months postpartum. Methods: A longitudinal multicenter study with 343 women were recruited between January 2019 and January 2020. The first questionnaire was held during the puerperium (24â48 h) with mothers practicing exclusive breastfeeding, with whom 6-month postpartum breastfeeding follow-up was performed. Socio-demographic, clinical and obstetric variables were collected. Breastfeeding efficiency was assessed using the LATCH breastfeeding assessment tool. The health literacy level was evaluated by the Newest Vital Sign screening tool. A multivariate logistic regression model was used to detect protective factors for early exclusive breastfeeding cessation. Results: One third of the women continued exclusive breastfeeding at 6 months postpartum. Approximately half the participants had a low or inadequate health literacy level. An adequate health literacy level, a high LATCH breastfeeding assessment tool score (>9 points) and being married were the protective factors against exclusive breastfeeding cessation at 6 months postpartum. Conclusion: Health literacy levels are closely related to maintaining exclusive breastfeeding and act as a protective factor against early cessation. Open Science, Closed Doors?:Countering Marginalization through an Agenda for Ethical, Inclusive Research in Communication
The open science (OS) movement has advocated for increased transparency in certain aspects of research. Communication is taking its first steps toward OS as some journals have adopted OS guidelines codified by another discipline. We find this pursuit troubling as OS prioritizes openness while insufficiently addressing essential ethical principles: respect for persons, beneficence, and justice. Some recommended open science practices increase the potential for harm for marginalized participants, communities, and researchers. We elaborate how OS can serve a marginalizing force within academia and the research community, as it overlooks the needs of marginalized scholars and excludes some forms of scholarship. We challenge the current instantiation of OS and propose a divergent agenda for the future of Communication research centered on ethical, inclusive research practices.</p

Changes in health sciences students' perception of obstetric violence after an educational intervention
Background
Obstetric violence is a type of gender-based violence that is presented structurally. This type of violence has physical and psychological consequences for both the women who experience it and health professionals. The World Health Organization adds that health professionals need training to ensure that pregnant women are treated with compassion and dignity.
Objectives
The objective of the study was to evaluate health sciences students' perception of obstetric violence and to identify possible changes after an educational intervention.
Design
A pre-post quasi-experimental study was carried out between January and June 2019.
Settings and participants
Students of medicine and nursing from Jaume I University (Universitat Jaume I) (Spain).
Methods
An ad hoc scale comprising 33 items was designed to measure the students' perceptions. In addition, sociodemographic and control variables were collected. Descriptive analyses of the sample and the scale were carried out, and a bivariate analysis was performed.
Results
Of the students surveyed, 89.7% were women, and the majority was nursing students. Of the 33 items, 28 (84.84%) showed statistically significant changes in the pre-post-intervention measurement. Twenty-five of the 33 items (75.75%) showed a relationship with the sociodemographic variables of gender, field, course and ever having been pregnant.
Conclusion
This study shows the change in health sciences students' perceptions of obstetric violence after an educational intervention. In addition, the normalization of this type of violence was observed with the progression of training and with personal obstetric experience.Background

Network metaâanalysis of postâexposure prophylaxis randomized clinical trials
Objectives: We performed a network metaâanalysis of PEP randomized clinical trials to evaluate the best regimen. /
Methods: After MEDLINE/Pubmed search, studies were included if: (1) were randomized, (2) comparing at least 2 PEP threeâdrug regimens and, (3) reported completion rates or discontinuation at 28 days. Five studies with 1105 PEP initiations were included and compared ritonavirâboosted lopinavir (LPV/r) vs. atazanavir (ATV) (one study), cobicistatâboosted elvitegravir (EVG/c) (one study), raltegravir (RAL) (one study) or maraviroc (MVC) (two studies). We estimated the probability of each treatment of being the best based on the evaluation of five outcomes: PEP nonâcompletion at day 28, PEP discontinuation due to adverse events, PEP switching due to any cause, lost to followâup and adverse events. /
Results: Participants were mostly men who have sex with men (n = 832, 75%) with nonâoccupational exposure to HIV (89.86%). Fourâhundred fiftyâfour (41%) participants failed to complete their PEP course for any reason. The Odds Ratio (OR) for PEP nonâcompletion at day 28 in each antiretroviral compared to LPV/r was: ATV 0.95 (95% CI 0.58â1.56; EVG/c: OR 0.65 95% CI 0.30â1.37; RAL: OR 0.68 95% CI 0.41â1.13; and MVC: OR 0.69 95% CI 0.47â1.01. In addition, the rankogram showed that EVG/c had the highest probability of being the best treatment for the lowest rates in PEP nonâcompletion at day 28, switching, lost to followâup or adverse events and MVC for PEP discontinuations due to adverse events. /
Conclusions: Our study shows the advantages of integrase inhibitors when used as PEP, particularly EVG as a SingleâTablet Regimen
Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on a Cancer Fast-Track Programme
Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many aspects of clinical practice in oncology, particularly regarding early cancer diagnosis, sparking public health concerns that possible delays could increase the proportion of patients diagnosed at advanced stages. In 2009, a cancer fast-track program (CFP) was implemented at the Clinico-Malvarrosa Health Department in Valencia, Spain with the aim of shortening waiting times between suspected cancer symptoms, diagnosis and therapy initiation. Objectives: The study aimed to explore the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on our cancer diagnosis fast-track program. Methods: The program workflow (patients included and time periods) was analysed from the beginning of the state of alarm on March 16th, 2020 until March 15th, 2021. Data was compared with data from the same period of time from the year before (2019). Results: During the pandemic year, 975 suspected cancer cases were submitted to the CFP. The number of submissions only decreased during times of highest COVID-19 incidence and stricter lockdown, and overall, referrals were slightly higher than in the previous 2 years. Cancer diagnosis was confirmed in 197 (24.1%) cases, among which 33% were urological, 23% breast, 16% gastrointestinal and 9% lung cancer. The median time from referral to specialist appointment was 13 days and diagnosis was reached at a median of 18 days. In confirmed cancer cases, treatment was started at around 30 days from time of diagnosis. In total, 61% of cancer disease was detected at early stage, 20% at locally advanced stage, and 19% at advanced stage, displaying time frames and case proportions similar to pre-pandemic years. Conclusions: Our program has been able to maintain normal flow and efficacy despite the challenges of the current pandemic, and has proven a reliable tool to help primary care physicians referring suspected cancer patients.S
Adaptive regulation of the brain's antioxidant defences by neurons and astrocytes
AbstractThe human brain generally remains structurally and functionally sound for many decades, despite the post-mitotic and non-regenerative nature of neurons. This is testament to the brainâs profound capacity for homeostasis: both neurons and glia have in-built mechanisms that enable them to mount adaptive or protective responses to potentially challenging situations, ensuring that cellular viability and functionality is maintained. The high and variable metabolic and mitochondrial activity of neurons places several demands on the brain, including the task of neutralizing the associated reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced, to limit the accumulation of oxidative damage. Astrocytes play a key role in providing antioxidant support to nearby neurons, and redox regulation of the astrocytic Nrf2 pathway represents a powerful homeostatic regulator of the large cohort of Nrf2-regulated antioxidant genes that they express. In contrast, the Nrf2 pathway is weak in neurons, robbing them of this particular homeostatic device. However, many neuronal antioxidant genes are controlled by synaptic activity, enabling activity-dependent increases in ROS production to be offset by enhanced antioxidant capacity of both glutathione and thioredoxin-peroxiredoxin systems. These distinct homeostatic mechanisms in neurons and astrocytes together combine to promote neuronal resistance to oxidative insults. Future investigations into signaling between distinct cell types within the neuro-glial unit are likely to uncover further mechanisms underlying redox homeostasis in the brain
Factors associated with the development of septic shock in patients with candidemia: A post hoc analysis from two prospective cohorts
Background: Almost one third of the patients with candidemia develop septic shock. The understanding why some patients do and others do not develop septic shock is very limited. The objective of this study was to identify variables associated with septic shock development in a large population of patients with candidemia. Methods: A post hoc analysis was performed on two prospective, multicenter cohort of patients with candidemia from 12 hospitals in Spain and Italy. All episodes occurring from September 2016 to February 2018 were analyzed to assess variables associated with septic shock development defined according to The Third International Consensus Definition for Sepsis and Septic Shock (Sepsis-3). Results: Of 317 candidemic patients, 99 (31.2%) presented septic shock attributable to candidemia. Multivariate logistic regression analysis identifies the following factors associated with septic shock development: age > 50 years (OR 2.57, 95% CI 1.03-6.41, p = 0.04), abdominal source of the infection (OR 2.18, 95% CI 1.04-4.55, p = 0.04), and admission to a general ward at the time of candidemia onset (OR 0.21, 95% CI, 0.12-0.44, p = 0.001). Septic shock development was independently associated with a greater risk of 30-day mortality (OR 2.14, 95% CI 1.08-4.24, p = 0.02). Conclusions: Age and abdominal source of the infection are the most important factors significantly associated with the development of septic shock in patients with candidemia. Our findings suggest that host factors and source of the infection may be more important for development of septic shock than intrinsic virulence factors of organisms
The effect of lengthening contractions on neuromuscular junction structure in adult and old mice
Skeletal muscles of old mice demonstrate a profound inability to regenerate fully following damage. Such a failure could be catastrophic to older individuals where muscle loss is already evident. Degeneration and regeneration of muscle fibres following contraction-induced injury in adult and old mice are well characterised, but little is known about the accompanying changes in motor neurons and neuromuscular junctions (NMJs) following this form of injury although defective re-innervation of muscle following contraction-induced damage has been proposed to play a role in sarcopenia. This study visualised and quantified structural changes to motor neurons and NMJs in Extensor digitorum longus (EDL) muscles of adult and old Thy1-YFP transgenic mice during regeneration following contraction-induced muscle damage. Data demonstrated that the damaging contraction protocol resulted in substantial initial disruption to NMJs in muscles of adult mice, which was reversed entirely within 28 days following damage. In contrast, in quiescent muscles of old mice, âŒ15 % of muscle fibres were denervated and âŒ80 % of NMJs showed disruption. This proportion of denervated and partially denervated fibres remained unchanged following recovery from contraction-induced damage in muscles of old mice although âŒ25 % of muscle fibres were completely lost by 28 days post-contractions. Thus, in old mice, the failure to restore full muscle force generation that occurs following damage does not appear to be due to any further deficit in the percentage of disrupted NMJs, but appears to be due, at least in part, to the complete loss of muscle fibres following damag
