On the reduction formula of Feinberg and Pais
Feinberg and Pais have considered a "reduction" formula for the Fourier transform of functions which depend only on the hyperbolic distance. They have shown that the formula is valid in particular cases and stated that it should be valid in general. We show that it is valid for any causal distribution and furthermore that it is actually an extension of the well-known Bochner Theorem on the Fourier transform of radial functions.Fil:Giambiagi, J.J. Hydrothermal thresholds for seed germination in winter annual forbs from old-field Mediterranean landscapes
Under Mediterranean climates with dry‐hot summers and cool‐wet winters, many forbs with potential for habitat restoration are winter annuals, but there is little information about their germination.
We performed laboratory germination experiments on 13 ruderal dicots native to Andalusia (southern Spain). We measured the germination of recently harvested seeds from natural populations across nine temperature treatments (from 5 to 35 °C, constant and alternate); two storage periods; and eight water stress treatments (from 0 to −1.0 MPa). We then calculated the hydrothermal thresholds for seed germination.
Final germination ranged from 0–100% and results were mixed in response to temperature. Base temperature was below 6 °C, optimal temperature was around 14 °C and the ceiling temperature around 23 °C. For five species, 10 months of storage improved total germination, indicating a dormancy‐breaking effect, but the other species did not respond or had their germination reduced. All species were relatively tolerant to water stress, with base water potential ranging from −0.8 to −1.8 MPa.
Our results suggest that hydrothermal germination thresholds, rather than physiological dormancy, are the main drivers of germination phenology in annual forbs from Mediterranean semi‐dry environments. The variation in germination responses of these forb species differs from winter annual grasses, but their seeds are all suitable for being stored before restoration.European Union's Seventh Framework Programme FP7/2007‐2013/. Changes in Number and Weight of Wheat and Triticale Grains to Manipulation in Source-Sink Relationship
The source-sink ratio experimental manipulation has helped to define whether a crop is limited by source or sink or co-limited by both. There is no evidence in triticale of source-sink manipulations effects on yield and yield components. Two experiments were accomplished during 2008 and 2009 growing seasons at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, México, and one in 2010 at the National Institute of Agricultural Technology in Pergamino, Argentina. Two triticale cultivars (line 4 and 7) and one wheat cultivar (Tollocan) were used. Source-sink relations were modified at anthesis by thinning, degraining, shading, and total defoliation procedures. Changes in the source-sink relation affected yields in both species differentially. The changes in yield due to cultivars and treatments were explained mainly by the number of grains rather than by their individual grain weight. The number of grains was affected by all treatments in both species, while the individual grain weight was increased by thinning and degraining mainly in triticale. A greater number of fertile florets in triticale were associated with their higher rate of abortion compared to wheat. A comparative study between conventional and non-conventional extraction techniques for the recovery of ergosterol from Agaricus blazei Murrill
Response surface methodology was applied to optimize the recovery of ergosterol from an agroindustrial residue
of Agaricus blazei Murrill, by comparing conventional (heat-assisted extraction, HAE) and more sustainable nonconventional
approaches (ultrasound and microwave-assisted extractions, UAE and MAE, respectively). A circumscribed
central composite design was employed to optimize and describe the interactive effects among
variables of the HAE, MAE (time and temperature) and UAE systems (time and ultrasound power), and their
performances compared with the standard soxhlet extraction system. The optimum conditions were predicted as
150 min, 81.6 °C for HAE, 30 min, 400W for UAE, and 25 min, 134.6 °C, for the MAE system. The UAE system
was identified as the most appropriate technique to obtain extracts with the highest amount of ergosterol,
followed by MAE and HAE. Overall, these results demonstrate the potential of using the fruiting bodies of A.
blazei as a suitable source to obtain ergosterol-rich extracts, which can be used as an ingredient for various biobased

Proposal for the numerical solution of planar QCD
Using quenched reduction, we propose a method for the numerical calculation
of meson correlation functions in the planar limit of QCD. General features of
the approach are outlined, and an example is given in the context of

A home and ambulatory artificial nutrition (NADYA) group report, home parenteral nutrition in Spain, 2013
Aim: to communicate the results of the Spanish Home Parenteral Nutrition (HPN) registry of the NADYA-SENPE group for the year 2013.
Material and methods: data was recorded online by NADYA group collaborators that were responsible of the HPN follow-up from 1st January to 31st December 2013.
Results: a total of 197 patients and 202 episodes of HPN were registered from 35 hospitals that represents a rate of 4,22 patients/million habitants/year 2013. The median age was 53 years (IQR 40 – 64) for 189 adult patients and 7 months (IQR 6 – 35,5) for children. The most frequent disease in adults was neoplasm (30,7%) followed by other diseases (20,1%) and mesenteric ischemia (12,7%). Short bowel syndrome and intestinal obstruction (25,9%) were in 35.7% cases the indications for HPN
Guía práctica para el estudio del crecimiento de especies demersales en el Área ICES
Versión revisada 05-02-2015En el documento se presenta una síntesis de los métodos empleados para estudiar el crecimiento y la edad, mediante estructuras calcificadas (otolitos y vértebras), de las especies ícticas de interés comercial para la flota española en el área del ICES. El estudio de estas especies forma parte del requerimiento que la Comisión Europea ha establecido para el Programa Español de Recopilación, Gestión y Uso de Datos Pesqueros (PNDB) en base a los desembarcos nacionales, según establece la normativa vigente de la Unión Europea (UE). En este Programa está involucrado el Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO), y entre otros el proyecto BIODEMER, desarrollado en el Centro Oceanográfico de Vigo. Las especies objeto de estudio en este proyecto son: merluza ("Merluccius merluccius"), abadejo ("Pollachius pollachius"), congrio ("Conger conger"), faneca ("Trisopterus luscus"), gallineta ("Helicolenus dactylopterus"), locha ("Phycis blennoides"), maruca ("Molva molva"), maruca española ("Molva macrophthalma"), mendo ("Glyptocephalus cynoglossus"); incluyendo las especies de descarte: arete ("Chelidonichthys cuculus") y goyeta ("Microchirus variegatus").

Fitting the integrated Spectral Energy Distributions of Galaxies
Fitting the spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of galaxies is an almost
universally used technique that has matured significantly in the last decade.
Model predictions and fitting procedures have improved significantly over this
time, attempting to keep up with the vastly increased volume and quality of
available data. We review here the field of SED fitting, describing the
modelling of ultraviolet to infrared galaxy SEDs, the creation of
multiwavelength data sets, and the methods used to fit model SEDs to observed
galaxy data sets. We touch upon the achievements and challenges in the major
ingredients of SED fitting, with a special emphasis on describing the interplay
between the quality of the available data, the quality of the available models,
and the best fitting technique to use in order to obtain a realistic
measurement as well as realistic uncertainties. We conclude that SED fitting
can be used effectively to derive a range of physical properties of galaxies,
such as redshift, stellar masses, star formation rates, dust masses, and
metallicities, with care taken not to over-interpret the available data. Yet
there still exist many issues such as estimating the age of the oldest stars in
a galaxy, finer details ofdust properties and dust-star geometry, and the
influences of poorly understood, luminous stellar types and phases. The
challenge for the coming years will be to improve both the models and the
observational data sets to resolve these uncertainties. The present review will
be made available on an interactive, moderated web page (sedfitting.org), where
the community can access and change the text. The intention is to expand the
