    The species Canthidium alvarezi Martínez and Halffter, 1986 (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae) is transferred to the genus Ateuchus Weber, 1801, becoming Ateuchus alvarezi (Martínez and Halffter), new combination. Its relationship with other species in the genus is briefly discussed. The validity and ranking of the genus Lobidion Génier, 2010, originally described from a single female, is discussed based on the discovery of male specimens, which lead us to reclassify it as a monotypic subgenus of Ateuchus, becoming Ateuchus (Lobidion), new rank, with the only included species becoming Ateuchus (Lobidion) punctatissimus (Génier, 2010) new combination

    La temática abordada en esta investigación es la capacidad de adopción de Normas Internacionales de Información Financiera para Pequeñas y Medianas Empresas (NIIF para PYMES) en Matagalpa, con el propósito de evaluar la estructura de la mediana empresa EDISMAT del municipio de Matagalpa, para adoptar las NIIF para PYMES en el I semestre del año 2015. Las NIIF para PYMES constituyen un nuevo marco de referencia diseñado para satisfacer las necesidades de información de las pequeñas y medianas empresas, las cuales representan el 95% de las empresas del país. Es importante que las PYMES de Nicaragua conozcan la existencia de un marco de referencia que se ajusta a sus capacidades y que les permite mejorar la comparabilidad de sus estados financieros, a la vez que aumenta la confiabilidad y precisión de la información financiera y les proporciona una base sólida para el crecimiento de la empresa. La mediana empresa EDISMAT, desconoce del nuevo marco de referencia NIIF para PYMES, sin embargo dispone de la estructura organizativa, financiera y productiva para adoptarlas; el principal impacto de su aplicación será mejorar la presentación y confiabilidad de la información financiera, al preparar un juego completo de estados financieros basados en un marco de referencia reconocido mundialmente

    Définir des épisodes de soins ne va pas de soi. Le choix fait ici de chaîner les recours au médecin consacrés à la même maladie et séparés de moins de 15 jours dans le temps influence la longueur moyenne de l’épisode de soins, mais non le taux d’accès direct au spécialiste (autour de 30% des premiers recours), ni la (faible) probabilité de consultation d’un confrère en deuxième recours. La seconde partie de l’article est consacrée aux prescriptions : toutes choses égales par ailleurs, l’assurance complémentaire n’influencerait pas ou peu la probabilité de prescription pharmaceutique lors du premier recours.To define episodes of illness is not straightforward. Here, two physician visits are linked if they concern the same illness and are distant of less than 15 days. This particular definition has an influence on the length of the episode, but doesn’t seem to have any on the proportion of first visits directly adressed to a specialist (around 30%) and on the (small) proportion of secondary visits done with an other physician than the one seen in first instance. The second part of the article deals with prescriptions of drugs : everything else equal, supplementary health insurance has limited or no effect on the probability to get a prescription of drug during the first visit of an episode

    Grande parte dos insucessos das cirurgias de transplante metálico ocorre devido à rejeição corporal à superfície do material empregado e às infecções pós-operatórias na região implantada. Dessa forma, prevenir o crescimento bacteriano sobre esses materiais e simultaneamente contribuir para a sua adaptação ao organismo são as principais metas de pesquisas recentes em nanomedicina. Como uma forma de alcançar esses objetivos, o revestimento de próteses metálicas com nanopartículas representa uma alternativa viável aos métodos tradicionais de tratamento, como por exemplo, o uso de antibióticos cuja eficácia decresce com o surgimento de cepas resistentes. Nesse trabalho, foi realizada a aplicação de nanopartículas de óxido de zinco dopado com cobre (Cu-ZnO) para o revestimento de superfícies de titânio metal comumente utilizado em implantes artificiais, a partir da técnica de deposição eletroforética. A escolha das nanopartículas de Cu-ZnO foi pautada em suas características antibacterianas, como demonstrado na literatura. Utilizando as técnicas de caracterização por microscopia (MEV e MET), espectroscopia (EDS) e difração de raios-X (DRX), pôde-se confirmar seu formato e os elementos presentes nas nanopartículas bem como o tamanho médio do cristalito (228,24 nm) e os parâmetros de rede. As nanopartículas foram suspensas e depositadas por eletroforese em placas de titânio por 1 minuto sob tensões entre 100 e 180 V a fim de se obter a melhor condição de deposição, sendo esta a de 160 V. O pH e a condutividade elétrica da suspensão também foram avaliados antes e após a EPD. Os resultados de EDS confirmaram a presença do nanomaterial no depósito e as imagens obtidas por MEV confirmaram o aumento da rugosidade superficial após a deposição eletroforética. Assim sendo, almejou-se nesse trabalho explorar o potencial de dessa técnica para o revestimento em implantes artificiais e, por conseguinte, contribuir para a pesquisa em nanotecnologia e suas aplicações em medicina

    Activity of the fungus Pleurotus ostreatus and of its proteases on Panagrellus sp. larvae

    Biological control has been shown to be one of the possible biotechnological applications of fungi and their proteases. The objective of this study was to evaluate the nematicidal activity of the fungus Pleurotus ostreatus and its proteases on Panagrellus sp. larvae. Proteolytic activity of P. ostreatus (PLO 06) was measured and characterized at different pHs, temperatures and in the presence of a inhibitor (PMSF). Daily samples of culture medium were collected in order to determine the period of maximum enzyme production. A zymogram showed the profile of several proteases. Predatory activity of the fungus P. ostreatus (PLO 06) was evaluated on Panagrellus sp. larvae (assay A) as well as the nematicidal activity of PLO 06 proteases on the same larvae (assay B). At pH 9 and 60°C, the activity of the proteases reached the maximum. In the presence of inhibitor, there was no proteolytic activity. A sample collected on the fifth day of incubation showed the highest enzyme activity. P. ostreatus demonstrated capture activity on larvae Panagrellus sp. The values of the reduction of the larvae (Assay A) were: day 1 (65.6%); day 2 (77.4%); day 3 (95.2%). The reduction of the larvae (Assay B) was 42%. P. ostreatus (PLO 06) and its proteases were very effective against Panagrellus sp. larvae, demonstrating great potential for use in integrated biological control.Keywords: Pleurotus, protease, Panagrellus sp., biological control, nematicidal. Abbreviation: PMSF, Phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride

    Changes in regional cerebral perfusion over time in idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder

    Background Idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder is associated with increased risk of neurodegeneration, but the temporal evolution of regional perfusion, a marker of cerebral activity, has not been characterized. The objective of the current study was to study longitudinal regional perfusion in patients with idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder. Methods Thirty‐seven patients and 23 controls underwent high‐resolution single‐photon emission computed tomography. After 17 months on average, scans were repeated for idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder patients. We compared regional cerebral blood flow between groups and over time. Results At baseline, patients showed lower relative regional perfusion in the anterior frontal and lateral parietotemporal cortex compared with controls. However, over time, patients showed an increase in relative regional perfusion in the anterior frontal, lateral parietal, and occipitotemporal cortex, reverting toward normal control levels. Conclusions Patients with idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder showed significant areas of relative regional hypoperfusion, which disappeared over time to finally return to average levels, suggesting possible developing compensation in areas affected by neurodegeneration

    Scarabaeoidea (Insecta : Coleoptera) in the Brazilian Cerrado : current state of knowledge

    Besouros pertencentes à superfamília Scarabaeoidea ocupam habitats variados, possuem hábitos alimentares diversifi cados, desempenham importante papel ecológico e diversas espécies apresentam importância agrícola. No entanto, estudos com esse grupo na região do Cerrado são escassos. Nesta revisão realizou-se um levantamento dos artigos publicados nos últimos 30 anos a respeito dos Scarabaeoidea no Cerrado. Foram recuperados 64 artigos, realizados em nove unidades da federação, que focavam quatro temas principais espécies praga, aspectos bioecológicos, biodiversidade e importância ecológica, e técnicas e metodologias de coleta de Scarabaeoidea. Os resultados desta revisão indicam que poucos estudos foram realizados com os Scarabaeoidea no Cerrado brasileiro nas últimas décadas frente à importância e diversidade desse grupo de insetos.Beetles belonging to the superfamily Scarabaeoidea occupy different habitats, present feeding habits diversifi ed, play an important ecological role and several species have agricultural importance. However, studies with this group in the Brazilian Cerrado are scarce. In this review we carried out a survey of scientifi c articles published in the past 30 years concerning Scarabaeoidea in the Cerrado. Were found 64 studies in nine Brazilian states. The studies focused on four main topics: pest species, bioecology, biodiversity and ecological importance, techniques and methodologies for collecting Scarabaeoidea. The results of this review indicate that few studies have been conducted with Scarabaeoidea in the Cerrado in recent decades compared to the importance and diversity of this group of insects
