    the tourism sector plays a crucial role in the economic and social development of regions, making it important to analyze it from variousperspectives. One such perspective is the dynamics underlying organizational innovation within the sector, as influenced by state actions and theirimpact on outcomes. Therefore, the aim of this research is to examine the relationship between public policies and innovation in tourism companies,recognizing it as a fundamental factor for promoting actions that enhance organizational competitiveness. This correlational study focused on analyzing data obtained from a survey administered to 100 small and medium-sized tourism enterprises in a specific region of Colombiabetween 2020 and 2021. The collected data were analyzed using a second-generation multivariate method called partial least squares structuralequation modeling (PLS-SEM) through SmartPLS software. The findings of this study confirmed the existence of a significant relationship betweenthe management of public policies, specifically observed through transparency, and the level of innovation within the analyzed organizations.Moreover, the structural model exhibited a satisfactory fit, and all four hypotheses formulated for the transparency construct and its relationshipwith innovation were supported. Therefore, by enhancing governance practices such as good governance and anti-corruption measures, organizationscan foster a culture of innovation that permeates throughout their operations.el sector turismo por su importancia en el desarrollo económico y social de los territorios merece ser analizado desde diferentes perspectivas,como, por ejemplo, la dinámica que subyace a la innovación de las organizaciones del sector; por cuenta de las acciones del Estado ysu injerencia en los resultados de estas. En ese sentido, el propósito de esta investigación es establecer la relación entre las políticas públicas y lainnovación de las empresas del sector turismo, como factor fundamental para promover acciones dirigidas a fortalecer la competitividad de lasorganizaciones. Este estudio correlacional analizó los resultados obtenidos de un instrumento aplicado a 100 pequeñas y medianas empresasturísticas en una región de Colombia durante 2020-2021. Los datos se analizaron utilizando un método multivariado de segunda generación,conocido como modelado de ecuaciones estructurales de mínimos cuadrados parciales, a través del software SmartPLS. Fue posible verificarla validez de la relación entre la gestión de las políticas públicas, observada a partir de su transparencia, y la innovación en las organizacionesanalizadas. Igualmente, el valor del modelo estructural mostró un buen ajuste y las cuatro hipótesis propuestas para el constructo de transparenciay su relación con la innovación son válidas, por lo que, al mejorar la gobernanza desde pilares como el buen gobierno y prácticasanticorrupción, se puede favorecer la generación transversal de innovación en las organizaciones

    On the modeling and real-time control of urban drainage systems: A survey

    Trabajo presentado a la 11th International Conference on Hydroinformatics celebrada en New York (US) del 17 al 21 de agosto de 2014.Drainage networks are complex systems composed by several processes including recollection, transport, storing, treatment, and releasing the water to a receiving environment. The way Urban Drainage Systems (UDS) manage wastewater is through the convenient handling of active elements such as gates (redirection and/or retention), storing tanks, and pumping stations, when needed. Therefore, modeling and control of UDS basically consists in knowing and representing the (dynamical) behavior of these elements and managing them properly in order to achieve a given set of control objectives, such as minimization of flooding in streets or maximization of treated wastewater in the system. Given the large number of elements composing an UDS and the interaction between them, management and control strategies may depend on highly complex system models, which implies the explicit difficulty for designing real-time control (RTC) strategies.     Modeling and real-time control of urban drainage systems: A review

    Urban drainage systems (UDS) may be considered large-scale systems given their large number of associated states and decision actions, making challenging their real-time control (RTC) design. Moreover, the complexity of the dynamics of the UDS makes necessary the development of strategies for the control design. This paper reviews and discusses several techniques and strategies commonly used for the control of UDS.     Careón ophiolite, NW Spain: Suprasubduction zone setting for the youngest Rheic Ocean fl oor

    The Careón ophiolite (Galicia, NW Iberian Massif) shows lithological and geochemical features suggestive of an origin in a suprasubduction zone setting. As with other Devonian ophiolites in the European Variscan belt, it was generated within a contracting Rheic Ocean. This setting and the general absence of large Silurian-Devonian volcanic arcs on both of the Rheic Ocean margins strongly suggest that this ocean was closed by intraoceanic subduction directed to the north. This subduction removed the older normal (N) mid-oceanic-ridge basalt (MORB) oceanic lithosphere and gave rise to a limited volume of new suprasubduction zone oceanic lithosphere.     Comparison of observed and modeled cloud-free longwave downward radiation (2010–2016) at the high mountain BSRN Izaña station

    A 7-year (2010–2016) comparison study between measured and simulated longwave downward radiation (LDR) under cloud-free conditions was performed at the Izaña Atmospheric Observatory (IZO, Spain). This analysis encompasses a total of 2062 cases distributed approximately evenly between day and night. Results show an excellent agreement between Baseline Surface Radiation Network (BSRN) measurements and simulations with libRadtran V2.0.1 and MODerate resolution atmospheric TRANsmission model (MODTRAN) V6 radiative transfer models (RTMs). Mean bias (simulated - measured) of 10 mm, the observed night-time difference between models and measurements is +5Wm-2 indicating a scale change of the World Infrared Standard Group of Pyrgeometers (WISG), which serves as reference for atmospheric longwave radiation measurements. Preliminary results suggest a possible impact of dust aerosol on infrared radiation during daytime that might not be correctly parametrized by the models, resulting in a slight underestimation of the modeled LDR, of about -3Wm-2, for relatively high aerosol optical depth (AOD>0.20).AERONET Sun photometers at Izaña have been calibrated within the AERONET Europe TNA, supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement no. 654109 (ACTRIS-2). In this article we propose a concept to measure some of its parameters, such as the respiratory rate (RR), using four inertial sensors. Two different experiments were performed to validate the concept. We analyzed the most suitable placement of each sensor to assess those features and studied the reliability of the system to measure abnormal parameters of respiration (tachypnea, bradypnea and breath holding). Finally, we measured post-COVID-19 patients, some of them with breath alterations after more than a year of the diagnosis. Experimental results showed that the proposed system could be potentially used to measure the respiratory dynamics at clinical setting. Moreover, while RR can be easily calculated by any sensor, other parameters need to be measured with a sensor in a particular position.Hoy en día la medición de la dinámica respiratoria está infravalorada en el ámbito clínico y en la vida diaria de un sujeto ,y sigue representando un reto desde el punto de vista técnico y médico. En este artículo proponemos un concepto para medir algunos de sus parámetros, como la frecuencia respiratoria (FR), utilizando cuatro sensore sinerciales. Se realizaron dos experimentos diferentes para validar el concepto. Analizamos la colocación más adecuada de cada sensor para evaluar esas características y estudiamos la fiabilidad del sistema para medir parámetros anormales de la respiración (taquipnea, bradipnea y retención de la respiración). Por último, realizamos mediciones en pacientes pos COVID-19, algunos de ellos con alteraciones respiratorias después de más de un año del diagnóstico. Los resultados experimentales mostraron que el sistema propuesto podría utilizarse potencialmente para medir la dinámica respiratoria en el ámbito clínico.     Sol−gel processing of water‐soluble carbon nitride enables high‐performance photoanodes **

    In spite of the enormous promise that polymeric carbon nitride (PCN) materials hold for various applications, the fabrication of high‐quality, binder‐free PCN films and electrodes has been a largely elusive goal to date. Here, we tackle this challenge by devising, for the first time, a water‐based sol−gel approach that enables facile preparation of thin films based on poly(heptazine imide) (PHI), a polymer belonging to the PCN family. The sol−gel process capitalizes on the use of a water‐soluble PHI precursor that allows formation of a non‐covalent hydrogel. The hydrogel can be deposited on conductive substrates, resulting in formation of mechanically stable polymeric thin layers. The resulting photoanodes exhibit unprecedented photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance in alcohol reforming and highly selective (∼100 %) conversions with very high photocurrents (>0.25 mA cm −2 under 2 sun) down to <0 V vs. RHE. This enables even effective PEC operation under zero‐bias conditions and represents the very first example of a ‘soft matter’‐based PEC system capable of bias‐free photoreforming. The robust binder‐free films derived from sol−gel processing of water‐soluble PCN thus constitute a new paradigm for high‐performance ‘soft matter’ photoelectrocatalytic systems and pave the way for further applications in which high‐quality PCN films are required.Completely unbiased : Robust binder‐free films derived from sol−gel processing of a water‐soluble polymeric carbon nitride precursor exhibit unprecedented performance in photoelectrocatalytic reforming of alcohols, including effective operation under bias‐free conditions

    There is concern about the influence of social determinants related to advertising, communication and information on the selection of food for healthy eating and safe. From this point of view, Spain created the European Regulation 1924/2006 (ER1924/2006), its aim is to ensure and promote access to safe food that benefit health and prevent information received by consumers is inaccurate, ambiguous or misleading. The aims of regulation are to prevent nutritional and attributed health claims to food without reason or if there is sufficient scientific evidence. In this sense, a group of professionals from the University of Alicante in December 2012 performed the First Day of Food and Nutrition, organized by the Center Alinua of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Alicante, related to updates on nutrition and health claims and its implications public health.By the interest and importance of this topic, this is a summary of the position papers from agents involved: consumers, government, food business, the gremial’s dietitian, the Academy and public health.Existe preocupación por la influencia de los determinantes sociales relacionados con la publicidad, la comunicación y la información sobre la selección de productos alimenticios para conseguir una alimentación saludable y segura. Desde este punto de vista, la legislación española normaliza este aspecto, a través del Reglamento Europeo 1924/2006 (RE1924/2006). El objetivo es asegurar y favorecer el acceso a alimentos inocuos que beneficien la salud y, evitar que la información recibida por los consumidores sea inexacta, ambigua o engañosa. El Reglamento pretende impedir que se atribuyan propiedades nutritivas y declaraciones de propiedades saludables a los alimentos sin razón o sin que exista suficiente evidencia científica. En este sentido, un grupo de profesionales de la Universidad de Alicante en diciembre de 2012 llevó a cabo la Primera Jornada de Alimentación y Nutrición, organizada por el Gabinete ALINU de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad de Alicante, relacionada con actualizaciones sobre declaraciones nutricionales y de propiedades saludables y sus implicaciones en la salud pública.Por el interés y la importancia del tema, se presenta un resumen de las ponencias desde la postura de los diferentes agentes implicados: consumidores, Administración, industria alimentaria, dietistas-nutricionistas, la Academia y la Salud Pública

    Virological and immunological outcome of treatment interruption in HIV-1-infected subjects vaccinated with MVA-B

    The most relevant endpoint in therapeutic HIV vaccination is the assessment of time to viral rebound or duration of sustained control of low-level viremia upon cART treatment cessation. Structured treatment interruptions (STI) are however not without risk to the patient and reliable predictors of viral rebound/control after therapeutic HIV-1 vaccination are urgently needed to ensure patient safety and guide therapeutic vaccine development. Here, we integrated immunological and virological parameters together with viral rebound dynamics after STI in a phase I therapeutic vaccine trial of a polyvalent MVA-B vaccine candidate to define predictors of viral control. Clinical parameters, proviral DNA, host HLA genetics and measures of humoral and cellular immunity were evaluated. A sieve effect analysis was conducted comparing pre-treatment viral sequences to breakthrough viruses after STI. Our results show that a reduced proviral HIV-1 DNA at study entry was independently associated with two virological parameters, delayed HIV-1 RNA rebound (p = 0.029) and lower peak viremia after treatment cessation (p = 0.019). Reduced peak viremia was also positively correlated with a decreased number of HLA class I allele associated polymorphisms in Gag sequences in the rebounding virus population (p = 0.012). Our findings suggest that proviral DNA levels and the number of HLA-associated Gag polymorphisms may have an impact on the clinical outcome of STI. Incorporation of these parameters in future therapeutic vaccine trials may guide refined immunogen design and help conduct safer STI approaches
