    A systematic review and conceptual framework of key performance indicators for urban public safety smartness for cities in Andalusia, Spain

    Background: The smart city approach is one of the most widely implemented urban development frameworks to solve the challenges brought about by urbanization. While the smart city approach has been evaluated across several urban dimensions. However, the extent to which the key performance indicators (KPI) assess security and safety dimensions is unknown. This protocol presents a systematic review of current KPIs to fill this gap. Objectives: This protocol details the work plan for a systematic review of KPI for public safety smartness designed to provide a comprehensive summary and their limitations in the scientific literature. Particularly, the study seeks to critically review the applicability of current public safety KPI to the Andalusian context. Specifically, the systematic review aims to synthesize: (RQ1) What indicators have been designed and used to measure urban public safety smartness; (RQ2) Within which smart city dimensions have the KPI been located; and (RQ3) How are the KPI defined and measured? Design: This systematic review follows the PRISMA statement. Five databases are searched for thematically relevant studies published in English or in Spanish. Studies included peer?reviewed publications, books, book chapters, conference papers, government and company documents, technical reports and doctoral theses. After the initial search, a pilot study was conducted on a sample of the total number of titles identified through the databases searches. After acceptable inter-rater reliability was reached among the three coders, screening of abstracts was carried out by the first author. Next, full-text screening of documents will determine the final sample. Finally, data will be extracted from the final selection of documents.Security and Global Affair

    Determination of the crystal and magnetic structure of the DyCrO4-scheelite polymorph by neutron diffraction

    Neutron diffraction data of DyCrO4 oxide, prepared at 4 GPa and 833 K from the ambient pressure zircon-type, reveal that crystallize with the scheelite-type structure, space group I41/a. Accompanying this structural phase transition induced by pressure the magnetic properties change dramatically from ferromagnetism in the case of zircon to antiferromagnetism for the scheelite polymorph with a T N= 19 K. The analysis of the neutron diffraction data obtained at 1.2 K has been used to determine the magnetic structure of this DyCrO4-scheelite oxide which can be described with a k = [0, 0, 0] as propagation vector, where the Dy and Cr moments are lying in the ab-plane of the scheelite structure. The ordered magnetic moments are 10 µB and 1 µB for Dy+3 and Cr+5 respectivel

    Smart cities' security governance is a significant challenge that requires careful planning, design, and management. Unfortunately, the number of Andalusian researchers and research groups working on this topic is currently limited, which hinders scientific progress, international competitiveness, and knowledge transfer. To address this issue, this project aims to establish a research agenda to identify the most relevant topics, facilitate resource allocation, and encourage collaboration among researchers, industry, and the public sector. In the near future, effective security management in smart cities will require multidisciplinary approaches that bring together experts from various fields. By promoting coherent initiatives and establishing robust research programs, we can build a strong foundation for sustainable smart cities.P20-00941Security and Global Affair

    Este documento forma parte del proyecto de investigación "Tecnología y control social: Fundamentos de la gobernanza democrática de la seguridad en Andalucía" PAIDI 2020-PI00941La gobernanza de la seguridad en las Smart cities supone un gran reto a nivel de diseño, planificación y gestión. El número de investigadores y grupos de investigación andaluces en esta temática es aún escaso, lo que puede dificultar avanzar de manera significativa y lograr un impacto científico y una competitividad y transferencia internacional de conocimiento. Por eso uno de los objetivos de este proyecto era establecer una agenda de investigación que permitiera identificar hacia la comunidad de investigadores aquellos temas de mayor relevancia con vistas a focalizar los recursos y generar sinergias entre ellos.     Magnetism and the absence of superconductivity in the praseodymium–silicon system doped with carbon and boron

    We searched for new structural, magnetic and superconductivity phases in the Pr-Si system using high-pressure high-temperature and arc melting syntheses. Both high and low Si concentration areas of the phase diagram were explored. Although a similar approach in the La-Si system produced new stable superconducting phases, in the Pr-Si system we did not find any new superconductors. At low Si concentrations, the arc-melted samples were doped with C or B. It was found that addition of C gave rise to multiple previously unknown ferromagnetic phases. Furthermore, X-ray refinement of the undoped samples confirmed the existence of the so far elusive Pr3Si 2 phase. © 2013 Elsevier B.V

    Widespread Recurrent Evolution of Genomic Features

    The recent explosion of genome sequences from all major phylogenetic groups has unveiled an unexpected wealth of cases of recurrent evolution of strikingly similar genomic features in different lineages. Here, we review the diverse known types of recurrent evolution in eukaryotic genomes, with a special focus on metazoans, ranging from reductive genome evolution to origins of splice-leader trans-splicing, from tandem exon duplications to gene family expansions. We first propose a general classification scheme for evolutionary recurrence at the genomic level, based on the type of driving force—mutation or selection—and the environmental and genomic circumstances underlying these forces. We then discuss various cases of recurrent genomic evolution under this scheme. Finally, we provide a broader context for repeated genomic evolution, including the unique relationship of genomic recurrence with the genotype–phenotype map, and the ways in which the study of recurrent genomic evolution can be used to understand fundamental evolutionary processes

    Heritage and the Sea: Maritime History and Archaeology of the Global Iberian World (15th -18th centuries)

    This two-volume set highlights the importance of Iberian shipbuilding in the centuries of the so-called first globalization (15th to 18th), in confluence with an unprecedented extension of ocean navigation and seafaring and a greater demand for natural resources (especially timber), mostly oak (Quercus spp.) and Pine (Pinus spp.). The chapters are framed in a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary line of research that integrates history, Geographic Information Sciences, underwater archaeology, dendrochronology and wood provenance techniques. This line of research was developed during the ForSEAdiscovery project, which had a great impact in the academic and scientific world and brought together experts from Europe and America. The volumes deliver a state-of-the-art review of the latest lines of research related to Iberian maritime history and archaeology and their developing interdisciplinary interaction with dendroarchaeology. This synthesis combines an analysis of historical sources, the systematic study of wreck-remains and material culture related to Iberian seafaring from the 15th to the 18th centuries, and the application of earth sciences, including dendrochronology. The set can be used as a manual or work guide for experts and students, and will also be an interesting read for non-experts interested in the subject.Volume 1 focuses on the history and archaeology of seafaring and shipbuilding in the Iberian early modern world, complemented by case studies on timber trade and supply for shipbuilding, analysis of shipbuilding treatises, and the application of Geographic Information Systems and Databases (GIS) to the study of shipwrecks.Volume 2 focuses on approaches to the study of shipwrecks including a synthesis of dendro-archaeological results, current interdisciplinary case studies and the specialist study of artillery and anchors.Peer reviewe
