    Fuzzy logic control for camera tracking system

    A concept utilizing fuzzy theory has been developed for a camera tracking system to provide support for proximity operations and traffic management around the Space Station Freedom. Fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic based reasoning are used in a control system which utilizes images from a camera and generates required pan and tilt commands to track and maintain a moving target in the camera's field of view. This control system can be implemented on a fuzzy chip to provide an intelligent sensor for autonomous operations. Capabilities of the control system can be expanded to include approach, handover to other sensors, caution and warning messages

    CodeLMSec Benchmark: Systematically Evaluating and Finding Security Vulnerabilities in Black-Box Code Language Models

    Large language models (LLMs) for automatic code generation have achieved breakthroughs in several programming tasks. Their advances in competition-level programming problems have made them an essential pillar of AI-assisted pair programming, and tools such as GitHub Copilot have emerged as part of the daily programming workflow used by millions of developers. The training data for these models is usually collected from the Internet (e.g., from open-source repositories) and is likely to contain faults and security vulnerabilities. This unsanitized training data can cause the language models to learn these vulnerabilities and propagate them during the code generation procedure. While these models have been extensively assessed for their ability to produce functionally correct programs, there remains a lack of comprehensive investigations and benchmarks addressing the security aspects of these models. In this work, we propose a method to systematically study the security issues of code language models to assess their susceptibility to generating vulnerable code. To this end, we introduce the first approach to automatically find generated code that contains vulnerabilities in black-box code generation models. To achieve this, we present an approach to approximate inversion of the black-box code generation models based on few-shot prompting. We evaluate the effectiveness of our approach by examining code language models in generating high-risk security weaknesses. Furthermore, we establish a collection of diverse non-secure prompts for various vulnerability scenarios using our method. This dataset forms a benchmark for evaluating and comparing the security weaknesses in code language models.Comment: 23 pages, 9 figure

    Korunk modern társadalmára jellemző a mozgásszegény életmód. A Hungarostudy felmérés 2002-es eredményei alapján a felnőtt lakosság 75%-a nem végez rendszeres sporttevékenységet Magyarországon. Így rendkívül fontos, hogy feltérképezzük a sportolási motivációkat, és ezáltal hatékonyan ösztönözzük a népességet az aktív sportolásra. Kutatásunkban a rekreációs motivációkra fókuszálunk. Korábbi kutatások beszámolnak róla, hogy a férfi ak sportolási hajlandósága átlagosan nagyobb, mint a nőké. Ezt a nemek közötti különbséget mi is tapasztaltuk. Azonban eredményeink rávilágítottak arra, hogy az életkor meghatározóbb a sportmotívumok sorrendjében, mint a nemi hovatartozás. Azt tapasztaltuk, hogy a fi ataloknak a legerősebb motiváció az érzelmi hatás, ami a kor előre haladtával egyre inkább háttérbe szorul, és mindinkább átveszi helyét az egészség. Az életkor csoportok szerinti megoszlás és az első helyen megjelölt motiváció közötti kapcsolat szignifi káns (p<0,0001 Pearson khi-teszt). Kutatási célunk árnyaltabb képet adni a szegedi sporttevékenységek motivációjáról. Úgy gondoljuk, kutatásunk eredményei alapot adhatnak későbbi átfogó sportmotivációs vizsgálatoknak

    Typhoon Haiyan Overwash Sediments From Leyte Gulf Coastlines Show Local Spatial Variations With Hybrid Storm and Tsunami Signatures

    Marine inundation associated with the 5 to 8 m storm surge of Typhoon Haiyan in 2013 left overwash sediments inland on the coastal plains of the northwestern shores of Leyte Gulf, Philippines. The Haiyan overwash deposit provides a modern sedimentary record of storm surge deposition from a Category 5 landfalling typhoon. We studied overwash sediments at two locations that experienced similar storm surge conditions but represent contrasting sedimentological regimes, namely a siliciclastic coast and a mixed siliciclastic-carbonate coast. The contrasting local geology is significantly reflected in the differences in sediment grain size, composition and sorting at the two sites. The Haiyan overwash sediments are predominantly sand and silt and can be traced up to ~ 1.6 km inland, extending farther beyond the previously reported \u3c 300 m inland limit of sedimentation. Sites with similar geology, topographic relief, and overland flow conditions show significant spatial variability of sediment thickness and inland extent. We infer that other local factors such as small-scale variations in topography and the type of vegetation covermight influence the spatial distribution of overwash sediments. The Haiyan overwash deposits exhibit planar stratification, a coarsening upward sequence, a non-systematic landward fining trend, and a sharp depositional (rarely erosional) basal contact with the underlying substrate. Overall, the Haiyan deposits have sedimentologic and stratigraphic characteristics that show a hybrid signature common to both storm and tsunami deposits

    The Simplified Human Intestinal Microbiota (SIHUMIx) Shows High Structural and Functional Resistance against Changing Transit Times in In Vitro Bioreactors

    Many functions in host–microbiota interactions are potentially influenced by intestinal transit times, but little is known about the effects of altered transition times on the composition and functionality of gut microbiota. To analyze these effects, we cultivated the model community SIHUMIx in bioreactors in order to determine the effects of varying transit times (TT) on the community structure and function. After five days of continuous cultivation, we investigated the influence of different medium TT of 12 h, 24 h, and 48 h. For profiling the microbial community, we applied flow cytometric fingerprinting and revealed changes in the community structure of SIHUMIx during the change of TT, which were not associated with changes in species abundances. For pinpointing metabolic alterations, we applied metaproteomics and metabolomics and found, along with shortening the TT, a slight decrease in glycan biosynthesis, carbohydrate, and amino acid metabolism and, furthermore, a reduction in butyrate, methyl butyrate, isobutyrate, valerate, and isovalerate concentrations. Specifically, B. thetaiotaomicron was identified to be affected in terms of butyrate metabolism. However, communities could recover to the original state afterward. This study shows that SIHUMIx showed high structural stability when TT changed—even four-fold. Resistance values remained high, which suggests that TTs did not interfere with the structure of the community to a certain degree

    Micropaleontology of the 2013 Typhoon Haiyan Overwash Sediments from the Leyte Gulf, Philippines

    Coastal geologic records allow for the assessment of long-term patterns of tropical cyclone variability. However, the accuracy of geologic reconstructions of tropical cyclones is limited by the lack of modern analogues. We describe the microfossil (foraminifera and testate amoebae) assemblages contained within overwash sediments deposited by Typhoon Haiyan when it made landfall on the islands of Leyte and Samar in the Philippines on 7 November 2013 as a Category 5 super typhoon. The overwash sediments were transported up to 1.7 km inland at four study sites. The sediments consisted of light brown medium sand in a layer \u3c1 to 8 cm thick. We used Partitioning Around a Medoid (PAM) cluster analysis to identify lateral and vertical changes in the foraminiferal and testate amoebae data. The presence of intertidal and subtidal benthic, and planktic foraminifera that were variably unaltered and abraded identify the microfossil signature of the overwash sediments. Agglutinated mangrove foraminifera and testate amoebae were present within the overwash sediments at many locations and indicate terrestrial scouring by Haiyan\u27s storm surge. PAM cluster analysis subdivided the Haiyan microfossil dataset into two assemblages based on depositional environment: (1) a low-energy mixed-carbonate tidal flat located on Samar Island (Basey transect); and (2) a higher-energy clastic coastline near Tanauan on Leyte Island (Santa Cruz, Solano, and Magay transects). The assemblages and the taphonomy suggest a mixed provenance, including intertidal and subtidal sources, as well as a contribution of sediment sourced from deeper water and terrestrial environments.     Precise magnesium isotope measurements in core top planktic and benthic foraminifera

    This study presents a new methodology to obtain highly precise measurements (±0.1‰) of magnesium isotope ratios in very small samples of foraminiferal carbonate (40–50 μg). Here this technique is used to examine Mg isotopic variation among different species of core top foraminifera over a range of different ambient conditions. Despite the high degree of temperature control on the abundance of elemental Mg incorporated into foraminiferal tests, analyses of surface dwelling Globigerinoides ruber and G. sacculifer from five cores, with associated sea surface temperatures ranging from 20 to 31°C, show no significant temperature-dependent variations in their Mg isotope ratios. Analyses of different size fractions of G. sacculifer show an increase in Mg/Ca with test size but no variation of Mg isotope ratio. In all, nine planktic and benthic species were analyzed; all show identical Mg isotope ratios with a mean of δ26Mg = −4.72‰, apart from small differences in three species, namely O. universa, G. sacculifer (which are both ∼0.4‰ lighter than the average), and P. obliquiloculata (which is ∼0.4‰ heavier). These results highlight the constancy of foraminiferal Mg isotope ratios, despite changing environmental conditions which dominate Mg/Ca variation and arguably affect Ca isotope fractionation. This is an important observation which needs to be included in any model of foraminiferal calcification. The insusceptibility of δ26Mg values to external parameters makes Mg isotopes ideally suited to constraining past variations in the Mg isotope budget of the oceans and the information this carries about the history of oceanic dolomitization, continental weathering, and hydrothermal behavior

    Multicenter Standardization of Phase-Resolved Functional Lung MRI in Patients With Suspected Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension

    BACKGROUND Detection of pulmonary perfusion defects is the recommended approach for diagnosing chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). This is currently achieved in a clinical setting using scintigraphy. Phase-resolved functional lung (PREFUL) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an alternative technique for evaluating regional ventilation and perfusion without the use of ionizing radiation or contrast media. PURPOSE To assess the feasibility and image quality of PREFUL-MRI in a multicenter setting in suspected CTEPH. STUDY TYPE This is a prospective cohort sub-study. POPULATION Forty-five patients (64 ± 16 years old) with suspected CTEPH from nine study centers. FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE 1.5 T and 3 T/2D spoiled gradient echo/bSSFP/T2 HASTE/3D MR angiography (TWIST). ASSESSMENT Lung signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) were compared between study centers with different MRI machines. The contrast between normally and poorly perfused lung areas was examined on PREFUL images. The perfusion defect percentage calculated using PREFUL-MRI (QDPPREFUL_{PREFUL} ) was compared to QDP from the established dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI technique (QDPDCE_{DCE} ). Furthermore, QDPPREFUL_{PREFUL} was compared between a patient subgroup with confirmed CTEPH or chronic thromboembolic disease (CTED) to other clinical subgroups. STATISTICAL TESTS t-Test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson's correlation. Significance level was 5%. RESULTS Significant differences in lung SNR and CNR were present between study centers. However, PREFUL perfusion images showed a significant contrast between normally and poorly perfused lung areas (mean delta of normalized perfusion -4.2% SD 3.3) with no differences between study sites (ANOVA: P = 0.065). QDPPREFUL_{PREFUL} was significantly correlated with QDPDCE_{DCE} (r = 0.66), and was significantly higher in 18 patients with confirmed CTEPH or CTED (57.9 ± 12.2%) compared to subgroups with other causes of PH or with excluded PH (in total 27 patients with mean ± SD QDPPREFUL_{PREFUL}  = 33.9 ± 17.2%). DATA CONCLUSION PREFUL-MRI could be considered as a non-invasive method for imaging regional lung perfusion in multicenter studies. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE 3 TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 1

    Citizen science and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

    Traditional data sources are not sufficient for measuring the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. New and non-traditional sources of data are required. Citizen science is an emerging example of a non-traditional data source that is already making a contribution. In this Perspective, we present a roadmap that outlines how citizen science can be integrated into the formal Sustainable Development Goals reporting mechanisms. Success will require leadership from the United Nations, innovation from National Statistical Offices and focus from the citizen-science community to identify the indicators for which citizen science can make a real contribution

    Hydrology and climatology at Laguna La Gaiba, lowland Bolivia: complex responses to climatic forcings over the last 25,000 years

    Diatom, geochemical and isotopic data provide a record of environmental change in Laguna La Gaiba, lowland Bolivia, over the last ca. 25 000 years. High-resolution diatom analysis around the last glacial–interglacial transition provides new insights into this period of change. The full and late glacial lake was generally quite shallow, but with evidence of periodic flooding. At about 13,100 cal a BP, just before the start of the Younger Dryas chronozone, the diatoms indicate shallower water conditions, but there is a marked change at about 12,200 cal a BP indicating the onset of a period of high variability, with rising water levels punctuated by periodic drying. From ca. 11,800 to 10,000 cal a BP stable, deeper water conditions persisted. There is evidence for drying in the early to middle Holocene, but not as pronounced as that reported from elsewhere in the southern hemisphere tropics of South America. This was followed by the onset of wetter conditions in the late Holocene consistent with insolation forcing. Conditions very similar to present were established about 2,100 cal a BP. A complex response to both insolation forcing and millennial scale events originating in the North Atlantic is noted
