This article aims to analyze social representations (re)produced by Portuguese language teachers, working in Basic Education, in the context of the implementation of Emergency Remote Teaching. And, due to this objective, we specifically aim to: i) identify social representations (re)produced by Portuguese language teachers, in Basic Education, in the context of the implementation of Emergency Remote Teaching; ii) to characterize the process of representational constitution of the identified social representations. As theoretical foundations, we start from works on social representations and curriculum, such as Moscovici (2007), Jodelet (2001), Pedra (1997), Silva (2001), among other scholars. Methodologically, this study follows the design of qualitative research, of an interpretative nature, through the Reflection Group technique for data generation. For this sampling, we selected data from 2 Portuguese language teachers, who collaborated in the reflective session on the curriculum theme. According to data analysis, we identified that, underlying the perceptions of these collaborators, there is a social representation (re)produced about a (non)curriculum during the focused context. The process of anchoring and objectifying this social representation can be made possible through the figure of the "Dark Room", evoked by one of the collaborators, which systematizes the context of overlapping activities and absence of curricular documents experienced by the class.

Innovative Smart Grid Solutions for Network Planning and Access

    Get PDF
Smart Grids are the cornerstone for Distribution System Operators transformation. Having new solutions to deal with historical and future problems is key to ensure a smooth transition to an advanced power system that not only integrate a large share of renewables and distributed energy resources (e.g. storage, electrical vehicles), but also requires efficient operation, better planning and exceptional customer service. EDP Distribuição is at the forefront of this transformation, as it is developing Inovgrid, a smart grid project in Évora city (Portugal), where a smart grid infrastructure was deployed, and new data is now available to incorporate in planning and access tools and procedures, hence contributing to a Smarter Grid. This paper discusses the results that EDP Distribuição has attained so far in these areas of the smart grid development, as well as the projected evolution of these innovative approaches to the future of the distribution grid, which are being developed in European projects like SuSTAINABLE (www.sustainableproject.eu)

_________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThe aim of the present work was to determine the influence of ovarian cells in the in vitro development of preantral follicles (PF). The viability of monolayer ovarian cells and the effect of the serum in the survive of in vitro PF was also investigated. Ovarian cells and PF were isolated from ovaries of bovine fetus between 6 and 8 months of pregnancy, obtained in a slaughterhouse. Monolayer of ovarian cells were cultured in a modified TCM-199 in the presence and absence of FSH and its viability after incubation was determined with Trypan Blue. PFs were divided in four different treatments, cultured in modified TCM-199, containing serum of castrated steer (SCS), SCS in monolayer of ovarian cells (MOC), MOC with FSH or a defined medium with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as macromolecule. The cellular viability was not affected by the presence or absence of FSH. However, PFs had a significant development (P<0.05) when cultivated in the presence of SNC, MCO and FSH, which was not observed in the other treatments. With these results, it was possible to conclude that FSH does not influence the viability of the ovarian cells when cultured in a monolayer for 20 days. Preantral follicles, measuring between 4000 and 8000µm2 but not with size greater than 8000µm2, grow on ovarian cells in vitro, independently of FSH

On the Seismic Vulnerability Assessment of Urban Areas Using Census Data: The Lisbon Metropolitan Area as a Pilot Study Area

    Get PDF
This paper presents a procedure for the application of an index-based vulnerability assessment method to the seismic risk assessment of 292,978 reinforced concrete and 152,916 unreinforced masonry buildings in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (LMA). A singular innovation of this proposed methodology is that it is tailored to be fed with data from the 2011 national population and housing Census. The vulnerability results are then combined with the seismic hazard component into a GIS tool used to map seismic risk across the LMA. The spatial representation of these results highlights the areas of different levels of vulnerability and risk.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Two-year history of lymphadenopathy and fever caused by Bartonella henselae in a child

    Get PDF
We report the case of a 6-year-old boy that presented with enlarged lymph nodes on his neck. He complained of tiredness and discouragement, which worsened during feverish periods. There were no relevant laboratory test abnormalities and serological tests were not reactive. Bartonella henselae DNA was detected by species-specific nested polymerase chain reaction. After treatment, the patient progressed with no fever or lymphadenopathy. Bartonellosis is a group of infectious diseases caused by bacteria of the genus Bartonella. This case report is a useful reminder to clinicians that long-term fever of unknown origin can be related to B. henselae infection, even if the specific serology is not reactive

To offer alternatives for the climatic instability of the Brazilian semi-arid an experiment was accomplished to evaluate the bromatologic composition and the dry matter in situ degradability of arboreal legumes from brazilian semi-arid. The appraised legumes were Muquem (Albizia polyantha), Tamboril (Enterolobium contortisiliquum) and Leucena (Leucaena leucocephala). Samples were collected at three forests of the municipal district of Bom Jesus da Lapa, in the Bahia state, a sample composed in each forest. There were determined the dry matter content, crude protein, detergent neutral fiber, acid detergent fiber, hemicelulose, organic matter, mineral matter and dry matter in situ degradability. The studied legumes presented 45% around of dry matter. The crude protein content of the Muquem legume and Leucena in spite of the statistical difference were very close (17.00%). there was difference for the quality of the fibers with the smallest detergent neutral fiber value observed for the Leucena, following by the Muquem and Tamboril. The Leucena, during the whole incubation period, presented larger digestibilidade ruminal following by the Muquem and of the Tamboril. We can conclude that in spite of the superiority of the Leucena the leguminosa Tamboril and Muquem can be alternative for the feeding of the flock in the ecosystem of Catinga.

Autonomous RPCs for a Cosmic Ray ground array

    Get PDF
We report on the behaviour of Resistive Plate Chambers (RPC) developed for muon detection in ultra-high energy cosmic ray (UHECR) experiments. The RPCs were developed for the MARTA project and were tested on field conditions. These RPCs cover an area of 1.5×1.2m21.5 \times 1.2\,{m^2} and are instrumented with 64 pickup electrodes providing a segmentation better than 2020\,cm. By shielding the detector units with enough slant mass to absorb the electromagnetic component in the air showers, a clean measurement of the muon content is allowed, a concept to be implemented in a next generation of UHECR experiments. The operation of a ground array detector poses challenging demands, as the RPC must operate remotely under extreme environmental conditions, with limited budgets for power and minimal maintenance. The RPC, DAQ, High Voltage and monitoring systems are enclosed in an aluminium-sealed case, providing a compact and robust unit suited for outdoor environments, which can be easily deployed and connected. The RPCs developed at LIP-Coimbra are able to operate using a very low gas flux, which allows running them for few years with a small gas reservoir. Several prototypes have already been built and tested both in the laboratory and outdoors. We report on the most recent tests done in the field that show that the developed RPCs have operated in a stable way for more than 2 years in field conditions.Peer Reviewe

Mesophotic reef fish assemblages of the remote St. Peter and St. Paul's Archipelago, Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Brazil

    Get PDF
Mesophotic reef fish assemblages (30-90 m depth) of the small and remote St. Peter and St. Paul's Archipelago (SPSPA), Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Brazil, were characterized using remotely operated vehicles. Ordination analyses identified distinct fish assemblages in the upper (30-50 m) and lower (50-90 m) mesophotic zones, the former characterized by high abundances of species that are also abundant at euphotic reefs (Caranx lugubris, Melichthys niger, Stegastes sanctipauli and Chromis multilineata) and the latter dominated by two mesophotic specialists (Prognathodes obliquus and Chromis enchrysura). Planktivores dominated fish assemblages, particularly in the upper mesophotic zone, possibly due to a greater availability of zooplankton coming from the colder Equatorial Undercurrent in mesophotic depths of the SPSPA. Turf algae, fleshy macroalgae and scleractinian corals dominated benthic assemblages between 30 and 40 m depth, while bryozoans, black corals and sponges dominated between 40 and 90 m depth. Canonical correspondence analysis explained 74 % of the relationship between environmental characteristics (depth, benthic cover and complexity) and structure of fish assemblages, with depth as the most important independent variable. Juveniles of Bodianus insularis and adults of P. obliquus and C. enchrysura were clearly associated with branching black corals (Tanacetipathes spp.), suggesting that black corals play key ecological roles in lower mesophotic reefs of the SPSPA. Results from this study add to the global database about mesophotic reef ecosystems (MREs) and provide a baseline for future evaluations of possible anthropogenic and natural disturbances on MREs of the SPSPA.Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cientifico e Tecnologico-CNPqCNPqFundacao de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ)Coordenacao de Aperfeicoamento de Pessoal de Nivel Superior (CAPES)Univ Sao Paulo, Inst Oceanog, Programa Posgrad Oceanog Biol, BR-05508120 Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilUniv Fed Paraiba, Programa Posgrad Ciencias Biol Zool, BR-58059900 Joao Pessoa, PB, BrazilUniv Fed Paraiba, Programa Posgrad Ecol & Monitoramento Ambiental, BR-58297000 Rio Tinto, PB, BrazilUniv Estadual Paraiba, Programa Posgrad Ecol & Conservac, BR-58109753 Campina Grande, PB, BrazilUniv Fed Pernambuco, Dept Oceanog, Ctr Tecnol & Geociencias, BR-50670901 Recife, PE, BrazilUniv Fed Paraiba, Ctr Ciencias Exatas & Nat, Dept Sistemat & Ecol, BR-58051900 Joao Pessoa, PB, BrazilInst Pesquisas Jardim Bot Rio De Janeiro, Rio De Janeiro, RJ, BrazilUniv Fed Sao Paulo, Inst Mar, Campus Baixada Santista, BR-11030400 Santos, SP, BrazilUniv Fed Rio de Janeiro, Inst Biol, BR-21944970 Rio De Janeiro, RJ, BrazilUniv Fed Rio de Janeiro, SAGE COPPE, BR-21944970 Rio De Janeiro, RJ, BrazilUniv Sao Paulo, Inst Oceanog, Dept Oceanog Biol, BR-05508120 Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilUniv Fed Paraiba, Dept Engn & Meio Ambiente, BR-58297000 Rio Tinto, PB, BrazilUniv Fed Sao Paulo, Inst Mar, Campus Baixada Santista, BR-11030400 Santos, SP, BrazilCNPq: 557185/09-2CNPq: 484875/2011-6Web of Scienc
