The possibilities that ICT offer for the development of a flexible teaching are diverse,
but the development of their applications in the different components of teaching
process has not advanced equally. In this sense, at the moment one can speak of a scarce
tradition in the use of the ICT for the evaluation of the teaching processes. The most
frequent applications are related with the design and application of exams
(fundamentally objective tests) or with the evaluation of the learning process designed
exclusively with the ICT (courses computerized with an own evaluation system). The
ICT offer possibilities to design multiple instruments; to organize the information
picked up in the process appraiser and to interpret it, facilitating this way the
understanding of the learning process. In this work we outline some possibilities that
ICT offer in the field of the evaluation
Skills for Learning Network of High School Students in Galicia
The aim of the present study is to identify the training needs for educational network of secondary
education students in Galicia. An exploratory analysis of the competence levels in educational network
assessed by the own students and by their teachers. The results show higher levels in instrumental
competences, and insufficient in those competences related to autonomous learning and knowledge
development. Therefore, these data suggest the need of curricular and systematic training to improve the
exploitation and management of the ICT in order to optimize the learning process
Identification of polymers in waste tyre reinforcing fibre by thermal analysis and pyrolysis
The composition of the reinforcing fibre obtained from the recycling of scrap tyres was analyzed with a view to finding the most suitable applications for it. The material (RF) was separated into two different parts i.e. fibre (F) and microfibre (MF) to ensure the maximum homogeneity of the material under study. Thermogravimetric analysis (TG) together with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) were used to identify the polymers present in the waste and to determine in what proportions they were present. Determination of the temperatures of maximum volatile matter evolution (Tmax), the yield at the end of the pyrolysis and the melting temperatures yielded very useful results for the identification of the polymers. In order to confirm the results obtained, pyrolysis of the pure polymers was carried out and the decomposition products were analyzed. The results were then compared with the oil composition data derived from the pyrolysis of the waste fibres. Our results showed the presence of two polyamides, rayon, polyester and aramid. The research leading to these results has received funding from theSpanish MICINN Project reference CTM2009-10227.
Distance Vocational Training: Running in the Wrong Direction
Transmissive teaching methodologies, minted at times as the "talking head", are not appropriate in Vocational Training (VT) with a high procedural content, even less in distance VT. But are these methodologies being used or, conversely, flexible teaching strategies are being implemented in this modality via Internet? We investigated the opinions of distance VT
teachers in Galicia on this topic. The results demonstrate the need to establish guidelines to improve the current model
Juxtaglomerular apparatus hyperplasia under dual angiotensin blockade. A footprint of adequate RAS inhibition or a concern for renal fibrosis?
Background: Dual renin-angiotensin system blockade with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers has been advocated to minimize proteinuria. However, recent trials have questioned the renal safety of this approach. Our understanding on the molecular effects of dual blockade in humans is incomplete.
Case presentation: We present a patient with corticoid resistant nephrotic syndrome who developed marked juxtaglomerular apparatus hyperplasia and renin expression in the context of dual angiotensin system blockade.
Conclusions: Although renin may have profibrotic effects mediated by (pro)renin receptor activation, this report raises questions on the potential consequences of local renin activation on chronic kidney disease in patients with dual angiotensin blockade. The authors have been supported by FIS PI 10/00072, PS09/00447, ISCIIIRETIC

Network and biosignature analysis for the integration of transcriptomic and metabolomic data to characterize leaf senescence process in sunflower
In recent years, high throughput technologies have led to an increase of datasets from omics disciplines allowing the understanding of the complex regulatory networks associated with biological processes. Leaf senescence is a complex mechanism controlled by multiple genetic and environmental variables, which has a strong impact on crop yield. Transcription factors (TFs) are key proteins in the regulation of gene expression, regulating different signaling pathways; their function is crucial for triggering and/or regulating different aspects of the leaf senescence process. The study of TF interactions and their integration with metabolic profiles under different developmental conditions, especially for a non-model organism such as sunflower, will open new insights into the details of gene regulation of leaf senescence.Fil: Moschen, Sebastián Nicolás. Evaluation of potential bacteriocin-producing bacteria recovered from soil. A holistic OneHealth strategy against multidrug-resistant pathogens and for food-industry applications
Introduction/Objective: Soils are reservoirs for a wide variety of bacteria, that coexist and compete for access to better nutrient sources by producing bacteriocins as a defense mechanism to a hostile ecosystem. These antimicrobial peptides would be of great interest for biomedical and food-industry applications. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial-activity (AA) of soil bacteria against a wide range of relevant pathogens.Material and Methods: Fifty-eight isolates recovered from soil samples were selected as potential bacteriocin-producing bacteria (P-Bac+) from a broad screening performed in La Rioja region during 2019-2023, linked to the MicroMundo project. They were identified by MALDI-TOF. The AA was confirmed by the spot-on-lawn method against 15 indicator-bacteria, including multidrug-resistant bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Listeria monocytogenes, among other relevant pathogens. Antimicrobial- susceptibility testing of P-Bac+ was performed by the disk-diffusion method and -hemolytic activity was also tested. Selected P-Bac+ strains were submitted to whole-genome- sequencing (WGS) for genomic characterization. Results: Fifty of the 58 isolates evaluated showed AA against at least one of the 15 indicator- bacteria tested and were considered as P-Bac+. They were of 13 genera and 25 species (genera(number isolates)): Bacillus(30), Pseudomonas(8), Brevibacillus(6), Paenibacillus(4), Streptomyces(2), Staphylococcus(1), Advenella(1), Arthrobacter(1), Brachybacterium(1), Klebsiella(1), Lysinibacillus(1), Microbacterium(1), and Peribacillus(1). Among P-Bac+ isolates, 51.4% were susceptible to all antibiotics tested and 67% lacked -hemolytic activity. The Brevibacillus laterosporus strain MM3 revealed AA against 8/15 indicators tested with strong inhibitory activity against MRSA and L. monocytogenes. Ten isolates [Staphylococcus hominis/(1), Bacillus pumilus/safensis/altitudinis/mycoides/(5), Brevibacillus laterosporus(2), Paenibacillus apiarus(1) and Pseudomonas kilonensis(1)] were selected for WGS characterization (in process). Conclusions: Soils are reservoirs of bacteriocin-producing bacteria with antimicrobial-activity against relevant pathogens, which is of great interest for biomedical and food-industry applications
