Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, a popular president who has all the media coverage: Content analysis of the press (2016-2018)

In his first speech, in March 2016, as 20th Portuguese President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa guaranteed that every Portuguese person was rooted in his first determining thought. It was in the people that President Marcelo found legitimacy to develop everything he sought. But will this concern in building bridges, in bringing others closer to him, be reflected on the journalistic coverage that his work raises? From the analysis of the first two years of his term, what is striking is the depiction of a President who wants everyone close to him, and yet the whole daily press discourse is centred on him. The President has consistently aligned himself with different social actors and has made a visible effort to expand his political action to different Portuguese regions and also to several other countries. However, the President is the main source and hegemonic voice in journalistic discourse. This research begins with the following question: How does the journalistic coverage of President Marcelo's activity, during his two-year term of office (2016-2018), concur with and guarantee the principles of autonomy and exemption in the news construction? Taking into account this research question, in methodological terms, this study will analyse the two years of journalistic coverage of the presidential activity, from a set of daily and weekly newspapers. The technique of content analysis will be used, in a categorical approach, following Bardin’s (2013) and Lopes & Espírito Santo’s (2016) previous framework. The expected results are the identification of the relationship between the political involvement of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa as President and the construction of the press message, combined with the potential introduction of a new role for the President as a political and media actor of the democratic system.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Unindo as pontas soltas com a análise de conteúdo etnográfica

Having the basis for a better, deeper and sustained discussion over a selected content and problem is one of the challenges one may face when a traditional research technique, such as content analysis, is applied in a less common approach as is ethnographic content analysis. The objective of this paper is to undertake a critical discussion about ethnographic content analysis, a specific approach that combines various technical resources, enabling new measures to achieving intriguing and rich results and in-depth discussion, considering a content corpus or data selected. This paper aims at contributing to a critical review of ethnographic content analysis, its advantages and limitations, as well as its potential as an alternative focus and strategy. The type of results expected from the implementation of this feature is either textual or statistical nature, which allows a more comprehensive approach and focuses on multiple details of the construction categorical process.Ter bases para uma melhor, mais profunda e sustentada discussão acerca de um conteúdo e problema selecionados será um dos desafios que se pode enfrentar quando uma técnica de pesquisa tradicional, como a análise de conteúdo, é aplicada num formato menos comum, como é o caso da análise de conteúdo etnográfica. A mensagem política na campanha das eleições presidenciais: análise de conteúdo dos slogans entre 1976 e 2006

The main objective of this study is to analyse a set of discursive and political representations as well as the values contained in the slogans used during the Portuguese presidential elections from 1976 (the first presidential election after the 1974 revolution) to 2006. This will focus on analysing the discursive, political and ideological differentiation contained in the campaign slogans. In methodological terms, this study is based on the technique of content analysis, supported by a qualitative and inferential view, and focused on the informational contents under consideration.O estudo presente tem como objectivo a análise das representações discursivas e políticas, bem como dos valores contidos nos slogans das eleições presidenciais portuguesas, a partir de 1976, data das primeiras eleições presidenciais pós-revolução de 1974, até 2006. Intra-party democracy from members’ viewpoint: the case of left-wing parties in Portugal

Focusing on the Portuguese case, this article aims to examine how members evaluate items of intra-party democracy and the ways in which their evaluations vary significantly across parties and key individual-level factors. It uses data from online surveys conducted in 2014 to grassroots members of three left-wing parties that differ in their organisational and participative profiles: the centre-left Socialist Party and the radical left Left Bloc and Livre. The results reveal more positive evaluations among members of radical left parties and for those featuring higher levels of activism and ideological congruence with the party. However, appraisals tend to be more negative when there are higher expectations of influencing the candidate selection process and of gaining professional benefits through membership. The findings suggest that democratising reforms may be a double-edged sword by attracting members who value this kind of change but at the same time fostering critical appraisals.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

QUALITY OF LIFE: A STUDY WITH ENTERING IN A GRADUATE NURSING COURSE AND DEGREE

Objetivos: identificar o perfil dos ingressantes do Curso de Graduação em Enfermagem e Licenciatura e descrever a visão sobre qualidade de vida desses estudantes. Método: estudo exploratório, descritivo de natureza qualitativa, cuja coleta de dados foi desenvolvida através de questionário aplicado a 52 alunos ingressantes no curso de graduação em enfermagem de uma Universidade Federal localizada no Estado do Rio de Janeiro. Resultados: predominância de mulheres na faixa etária entre 17 e 21 anos, as quais consideram sua qualidade de vida antes de entrar no curso como boa e entendem qualidade de vida como “bem estar físico, social, mental, incluindo lazer, moradia, saúde, alimentação e educação”. Conclusão: é preciso investir em estratégias que viabilizem promover a saúde do estudante de Enfermagem durante sua formação para que na vida profissional tenham um maior equilíbrio diante das situações impostas pelo ambiente onde irão atuar. Permanent education on palliative care for nursing professionals: an integrative literature review / Educação permanente sobre cuidados paliativos para profissionais de enfermagem: revisão integrativa da literatura

Objective: to identify current scientific evidence in the literature about continuing education in palliative care for nursing professionals. Method: integrative literature review carried out in six steps: 1- definition of the guiding question; 2- Literature search in the databases: Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Database in Nursing and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online by combining the Portuguese Descriptors: “Palliative Care”, “Nursing” and “Education Continued”; 3- definition of the information to be extracted from the studies; 4- critical evaluation; 5- interpretation of results; 6- content synthesis. Results: six articles selected for full reading, emerging two categories for discussion. Conclusion: this is a recent theme, but on the rise. There was a small number of studies, indicating the need for further research in the field of palliative care and continuing education in this area.Objetivo: identificar la evidencia científica actual en la literatura sobre la formación continua en cuidados paliativos para profesionales de enfermería. Método: revisión integradora de la literatura realizada en seis pasos: 1- definición de la pregunta orientadora; 2- Búsqueda de literatura en las bases de datos: Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud, Base de Datos en Enfermería y Sistema de Análisis y Recuperación de Literatura Médica en Línea mediante la combinación de los Descriptores Portugueses: “Cuidados Paliativos”, “Enfermería” y “Educación Continuada”; 3- definición de la información a extraer de los estudios; 4- evaluación crítica; 5- interpretación de resultados; 6- síntesis de contenido. Resultados: seis artículos seleccionados para lectura completa, emergiendo dos categorías para discusión. Conclusión: este es un tema reciente, pero en aumento. Hubo un pequeño número de estudios, lo que indica la necesidad de realizar más investigaciones en el campo de los cuidados paliativos y la educación continua en esta área.Objetivo: identificar na literatura evidências científicas atuais acerca de educação permanente em cuidados paliativos para profissionais de enfermagem. Método: revisão integrativa da literatura realizada em seis etapas: 1- definição da questão norteadora; 2- busca na literatura nas bases de dados: Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Base de Dados em Enfermagem e Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online por meio da combinação dos Descritores português: “Cuidados Paliativos”, “Enfermagem” e “Educação Continuada”; 3- definição das informações a serem extraídas dos estudos; 4- avaliação crítica; 5- interpretação dos resultados; 6- síntese do conteúdo. Resultados: seis artigos selecionados para leitura na íntegra, emergindo duas categorias para discussão. Conclusão: trata-se de uma temática recente, porém em ascensão. Observou-se um número reduzido de estudos, indicando a necessidade de novas pesquisas no campo dos cuidados paliativos e educação permanente nessa área.

Análise morfológica comparativa de frutos tomate cereja provenientes de três sistemas de cultivo

A ciência agrícola buscou novas formas de cultivo para atender às exigências de mercado e dividiu-se em três grandes vertentes: os sistemas de cultivo orgânico, convencional e hidropônico. Todavia, esses avanços nem sempre foram acompanhados por pesquisas que objetivassem apontar o impacto de uma nova técnica agrícola sobre o ambiente, a saúde humana e animal e aos próprios vegetais em seus aspectos químicos e estruturais. Este trabalho tem por objetivo o estudo comparativo da morfo-anatomia do fruto do Lycopersicon esculentum var. cerasiforme (Duval) A. Gray, cultivado nos sistemas orgânico, convencional e hidropônico. Os frutos foram coletados no comércio varejista da Região Metropolitana de Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil. Para cada cultivo foram analisados 50 frutos. Cada fruto foi pesado e teve o diâmetro e volume medidos. Para análise anatômica foram retiradas amostras do pericarpo de dez frutos, que foram embebidas em glicol metacrilato, seccionadas com 6 mm de espessura, coradas com azul de toluidina e montadas em lâminas permanentes. A análise anatômica e as ilustrações foram feitas em microscópio fotônico Olympus e Zeiss com câmara fotográfica acoplada. As amostras obtidas pelo sistema de cultivo orgânico apresentaram maior massa, diâmetro, volume e densidade. O pericarpo, dos frutos do cultivo convencional, apresentou células maiores e em menor número em relação ao pericarpo dos frutos hidropônicos e orgânicos.Attempts to meet produces market demand are not always followed by research reports showing the impact of novel, intensive cropping systems on the environment, human and animal health, and eventual chemical and structural changes of plants. This work carries a comparative evaluation of the morphology and anatomy of cherry tomato fruits obtained from organic, conventional and hydroponic cropping systems. Fruits were collected at the free market in the greater Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. For each culture method, 50 fruits their weight, diameter and volume measured. For the anatomical analysis, samples of the pericarp of ten fruits were excised and embedded in glycol methacrylate; 6-mm cuts were then obtained, stained with toluidine blue, and mounted on permanent glass slides. The anatomical analysis and illustrations were performed in Olympus and Zeiss photonic microscope. Samples obtained from the organic cropping system presented the highest mass, diameter, volume and density. The pericarp of fruits, obtained from the conventional cropping system presented larger but less abundant cells in comparison to the pericarp of the hydroponic and organic-produced fruits

Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on Public Administration: A Systematic Literature Review
