Role of Magnesium in Health and Disease

    Get PDF
The list of conditions related to magnesium deficiency is quite high. The National Institute of Health information says that magnesium is a wonder drug but its use in clinical medicine is very scarse. Magnesium deficiency has been implicated in a wide range of clinical conditions such as insomnia, crumps, diarrhea, erectile dysfunction, headache, migrane, low blood pressure, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, weakness, numbness, tingling, seizures, personality change, abnormal heart rhythms, coronary spasms, cardio vascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, depression, immune dysfunction, thyroid function alterations to name a few. Although supplementation is said to restore normalcy in a majority of cases, very few studies have been done in this direction. The role of magnesium in alleviating cancers of all types has been extensively studied, but treatment using magnesium is very limited. This review article aim to bring out research findings during the last 3 decades on the role magnesium in health and disease and this will enable researches to understand in detail and give awareness about further works to be carried out in this field, with an ultimate aim of using magnesium as a drug to cure a host of diseases

Lecturers who in this case serve as educators within such higher educational institution have a important role in study and teaching process. Because it is influence of development and student of university's ability in getting knowledge. One thing that can be done to keep quality of lecturer is by doing an achievement to the lecturer with building a decision support system which use Topsis method. Achievement rated only in lecturer teaching that have 3 criteria the criteria are questioner value, lecturer attendance and the unit of lecture(SAP). The result of this research can support decision in taking lecturer achievement with use a criteria that has been determined. Decision support system use PHP and MySQL program language

A global analysis of Y-chromosomal haplotype diversity for 23 STR loci

In a worldwide collaborative effort, 19,630 Y-chromosomes were sampled from 129 different populations in 51 countries. These chromosomes were typed for 23 short-tandem repeat (STR) loci (DYS19, DYS389I, DYS389II, DYS390, DYS391, DYS392, DYS393, DYS385ab, DYS437, DYS438, DYS439, DYS448, DYS456, DYS458, DYS635, GATAH4, DYS481, DYS533, DYS549, DYS570, DYS576, and DYS643) and using the PowerPlex Y23 System (PPY23, Promega Corporation, Madison, WI). Locus-specific allelic spectra of these markers were determined and a consistently high level of allelic diversity was observed. A considerable number of null, duplicate and off-ladder alleles were revealed. Standard single-locus and haplotype-based parameters were calculated and compared between subsets of Y-STR markers established for forensic casework. The PPY23 marker set provides substantially stronger discriminatory power than other available kits but at the same time reveals the same general patterns of population structure as other marker sets. A strong correlation was observed between the number of Y-STRs included in a marker set and some of the forensic parameters under study. Interestingly a weak but consistent trend toward smaller genetic distances resulting from larger numbers of markers became apparent.Peer reviewe

Domino tilings and related models: space of conÿgurations of domains with holes

    No full text
Abstract We ÿrst prove that the set of domino tilings of a ÿxed ÿnite ÿgure is a distributive lattice, even in the case when the ÿgure has holes. We then give a geometrical interpretation of the order given by this lattice, using (not necessarily local) transformations called ips. This study allows us to formulate an exhaustive generation algorithm and a uniform random sampling algorithm. We ÿnally extend these results to other types of tilings (calisson tilings, tilings with bicolored Wang tiles)

Volumetric and viscometric study with FT-IR analysis of binary systems with diethyl succinate and alcohols

    No full text
Density, viscosity and refractive index of binary mixtures consisting of diethyl succinate + 1-propanol, or + 1-butanol, or + 1-hexanol have been measured at atmospheric pressure and over the temperature range from 288.15 K to 323.15 K. Excess and deviation functions have been calculated from these data and fitted to the Redlich-Kister equation. The values of excess molar volume and deviation functions, with Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, were further used in the analysis of molecular interactions present in the mixture as well as the temperature influence on them

Influence of the outlet air temperature on the thermohydraulic behaviour of air coolers

    No full text
The determination of the optimal process conditions for the operation of air coolers demands a detailed analysis of their thermohydraulic behaviour on the one hand, and the estimation of the operating costs, on the other. One of the main parameters of the thermohydraulic behaviour of this type of equipment, is the outlet air temperature. The influence of the outlet air temperature on the performance of air coolers (heat transfer coefficient overall heat transfer coefficient, required surface area for heat transfer air-side pressure drop, fan power consumption and sound pressure level) was investigated in this study. All the computations, using AirCooler software [1], were applied to cooling of the process fluid and the condensation of a multicomponent vapour mixture on two industrial devices of known geometries
