    Dynamizing human resources: An integrative review of SHRM and dynamic capabilities research

    Human resource management (HRM) systems have been extensively analyzed in academic research yet limited attention has been paid to the role of HRM dynamic capabilities (DC) and their impact on resources and practices, employee well-being and firm performance. Our study bridges this gap by defining a new categorization of HRM DC based on their ultimate aims: building knowledge, advancing social integration and developing reconfiguration-enhancing mechanisms. In parallel, we offer an integrative framework to shed light on how strategic human resource management (SHRM) can accelerate HRM DC development. Through this conceptual process model and typology of capabilities, we deepen the discussion around the core components of HRM systems, HRM DC, and their effects on resources and practices, employee well-being and performance. In practical terms, HRM DC represent a promising driver of sustainable long-term organizational growth by enabling firms to boost their strategic agility and capacity to navigate in the presence of environmental dynamism

    Aging the gap: The compensation among men and women executives

    In this study, we explore how early career advancement affects the gender pay gap among top executives and argue that an employee's age at attainment of an executive position serves as a signal that helps reduce biases toward women, thereby lowering gender pay differentials. We analyze career data of 803 executives from public high-technology manufacturing firms in the United States by collecting information from ExecuComp, Marquis Who's Who, LinkedIn, and Bloomberg. Our results indicate that attaining a top management position at a young age has a positive effect on pay, particularly among women, and this effect is due to the variable portion of compensation, which represents a large proportion of compensation among top executives. Further, recent research has identified a pay premium among high-potential female managers, although its key drivers remain unclear.     Production of copper loaded lipid microparticles by PGSS® (particles from gas saturated solutions) process

    Production of lipid particles loaded with metal nanoparticles by supercritical fluids based processes has been barely studied. In this work, copper nanoparticles were loaded into glyceryl palmitostearate microparticles by PGSS® (Particles from Gas Saturated Solutions). The effect of different variables, temperature (60-80 ºC), copper load (0.2-5%w/w) and water addition (0 – 40%w/w), in particle size and encapsulation efficiency has been studied. The dispersion of metal nanoparticles in the lipid has been determined by SEM-FIB coupled with EDS mapping. In all cases, mean particle size values lower than 70 μm have been obtained, and encapsulation efficiencies around 60% have been achieved.     Radiographic rib fracture nonunion and association with fracture classification in adults with multiple rib fractures without flail segment:A multicenter prospective cohort study

    Background: Rib fracture nonunion is a probable cause of chronic pain following chest trauma, although its prevalence remains unknown. The aims of this study were to determine rib fracture nonunion prevalence following nonoperative management and to determine if presence of nonunion was associated with the number of rib fractures, or the rib fracture classification of anatomical location, type, and displacement. Methods: This multicenter prospective cohort study included trauma patients with three or more fractured ribs but without a flail segment, who participated in the nonoperative management group of the FixCon trial between January 2019 and June 2022. The number and classification of rib fractures were assessed on trauma chest CT. Chest CTs conducted six months post-trauma were evaluated for the presence of nonunion. Radiological characteristics of nonunions were compared with normally healed rib fractures using the Mann-Whitney U, χ2 test, and Fisher's exact test as appropriate. A generalized linear model adjusted for multiple observations per patient when assessing the associations between nonunion and fracture characteristics. Results: A total of 68 patients were included with 561 post-traumatic fractures in 429 ribs. Chest CT after six months revealed nonunions in 67 (12 %) rib fractures in 29 (43 %) patients with a median of 2 (P25-P75 1–3) nonunions per patient. Nonunion was most commonly observed in ribs seven to 10 (20–23 %, p &lt; 0.001, adjusted p = 0.006). Nonunion occurred in 14 (5 %) undisplaced, 22 (19 %) offset, and 20 (23 %) displaced rib fractures (p &lt; 0.001). No statistically significant association between rib fracture type and nonunion was found. Conclusions: Forty-three percent of patients with multiple rib fractures had radiographic nonunion six months after trauma. Fractures in ribs seven to 10 and dislocated fractures had an increased risk of rib fracture nonunion.</p

    Evidence of Color Coherence Effects in W+jets Events from ppbar Collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV

    We report the results of a study of color coherence effects in ppbar collisions based on data collected by the D0 detector during the 1994-1995 run of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, at a center of mass energy sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV. Initial-to-final state color interference effects are studied by examining particle distribution patterns in events with a W boson and at least one jet. The data are compared to Monte Carlo simulations with different color coherence implementations and to an analytic modified-leading-logarithm perturbative calculation based on the local parton-hadron duality hypothesis.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figures.     Search for Higgs bosons decaying to tautau pairs in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV

    We present a search for the production of neutral Higgs bosons decaying into tautau pairs in ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb-1, were collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We set upper limits at the 95% C.L. on the product of production cross section and branching ratio for a scalar resonance decaying into tautau pairs, and we then interpret these limits as limits on the production of Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) and as constraints in the MSSM parameter space.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, submitted to PL

    Measurement of the photon+b+b-jet production differential cross section in ppˉp\bar{p} collisions at \sqrt{s}=1.96~\TeV

    We present measurements of the differential cross section dsigma/dpT_gamma for the inclusive production of a photon in association with a b-quark jet for photons with rapidities |y_gamma|< 1.0 and 30<pT_gamma <300 GeV, as well as for photons with 1.5<|y_gamma|< 2.5 and 30< pT_gamma <200 GeV, where pT_gamma is the photon transverse momentum. The b-quark jets are required to have pT>15 GeV and rapidity |y_jet| < 1.5. The results are based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 8.7 fb^-1, recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppˉp\bar{p} Collider at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV. The measured cross sections are compared with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations using different sets of parton distribution functions as well as to predictions based on the kT-factorization QCD approach, and those from the Sherpa and Pythia Monte Carlo event generators.Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures, submitted to Phys.
