Performance Assessment of Image Compression and Reconstruction Employing Wavelet Transform with Lifting Scheme: An Effective Approach
In the analysis for image compression and subsequent reconstruction, the primary objective is tominimize the data redundancy in terms of spatial and frequency domain without much affectingthe image quality. Lossless reversible image compression model is proposed in case ofcontinuous and discrete time utilizing integer wavelet transform (IWT) that incorporates liftingscheme (LS) excellently. As compared to wavelet decomposition, here both approximation aswell as detailed contents of the image under consideration are further decomposed, whichenhances the compression ratio. Bi-orthogonal wavelets are constructed using LS that makes useof both high pass and low pass filter values along with addition and shift operations on theresulting wavelet coefficients quite suitably. Forward as well as inverse lifting schemes areimplemented to reduce the computational complexity and achieve superior image compressionperformance that accounts for encoding time, decoding time, peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR)and better compression ratio (CR). The present paper projects the utility of IWT and LS in thedomain of image compression and reconstruction that will immensely benefit the researchers andexperimentalists involved with image and signal processing
A Partial Backlogging Inventory Model for Deteriorating Item under Fuzzy Inflation and Discounting over Random Planning Horizon: A Fuzzy Genetic Algorithm Approach
An inventory model for deteriorating item is considered in a random planning horizon under inflation and time value money. The model is described in two different environments: random and fuzzy random. The proposed model allows stock-dependent consumption rate and shortages with partial backlogging. In the fuzzy stochastic model, possibility chance constraints are used for defuzzification of imprecise expected total profit. Finally, genetic algorithm (GA) and fuzzy simulation-based genetic algorithm (FSGA) are used to make decisions for the above inventory models. The models are illustrated with some numerical data. Sensitivity analysis on expected profit function is also presented. Scope and Purpose. The traditional inventory model considers the ideal case in which depletion of inventory is caused by a constant demand rate. However, to keep sales higher, the inventory level would need to remain high. Of course, this would also result in higher holding or procurement cost. Also, in many real situations, during a longer-shortage period some of the customers may refuse the management. For instance, for fashionable commodities and hightech products with short product life cycle, the willingness for a customer to wait for backlogging is diminishing with the length of the waiting time. Most of the classical inventory models did not take into account the effects of inflation and time value of money. But in the past, the economic situation of most of the countries has changed to such an extent due to large-scale inflation and consequent sharp decline in the purchasing power of money. So, it has not been possible to ignore the effects of inflation and time value of money any more. The purpose of this paper is to maximize the expected profit in the random planning horizon

Effect of CD4+ T-Cells and CD8+ T-Cells on Psoriasis: a mathematical study
Paper presented at the 3rd Strathmore International Mathematics Conference (SIMC 2015), 3 - 7 August 2015, Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya.Psoriasis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease that is differentiated by repeated occurrences of raised scaly and red skin plaques. It is generated through several applications of drugs, strains, physical wounds to the skin and also for infectivity. Psoriasis is identified by composite interactions of T-Cells, Dendritic Cells, Cytokines and downstream transcription factors (type 1 Cytokines network). The effects of T-Cells in dermal layer (CD4+ T-Cells) are well-studied in the disease dynamics of Psoriasis from mathematical as well as biological context. But the concept of T-Cells in epidermal layer (CD8+ T-Cells) for disease progression of Psori-asis has not yet been explored till now from mathematical avenue. Here we introduce both CD4+ and CD8+ T-Cell, Dendritic Cell and Keratinocyte population to notice the impact of them on immunopathogenic cell-biological mechanism of Psoriasis. Numerical simulation is also furnished to establish the analytical outcomes
What Is New for an Old Molecule? Systematic Review and Recommendations on the Use of Resveratrol
Stilbenes are naturally occurring phytoalexins that generally exist as their more stable E isomers. The most well known natural stilbene is resveratrol (Res), firstly isolated in 1939 from roots of Veratrum grandiflorum (white hellebore) (1) and since then found in various edible plants, notably in Vitis vinifera L. (Vitaceae) (2). The therapeutic potential of Res covers a wide range of diseases, and multiple beneficial effects on human health such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activities have been suggested based on several in vitro and animal studies (3). In particular, Res has been reported to be an inhibitor of carcinogenesis at multiple stages via its ability to inhibit cyclooxygenase, and is an anticancer agent with a role in antiangiogenesis (4). Moreover, both in vitro and in vivo studies showed that Res induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in tumor cells (4). However, clinical studies in humans evidenced that Res is rapidly absorbed after oral intake, and that the low level observed in the blood stream is caused by a fast conversion into metabolites that are readily excreted from the body (5). Thus, considerable efforts have gone in the design and synthesis of Res analogues with enhanced metabolic stability. Considering that reduced Res (dihydro- resveratrol, D-Res) conjugates may account for as much as 50% of an oral Res dose (5), and that D-Res has a strong proliferative effect on hormone-sensitive cancer cell lines such as breast cancer cell line MCF7 (6), we recently devoted our synthetic efforts to the preparation of trans-restricted analogues of Res in which the E carbon-carbon double bond is embedded into an imidazole nucleus. To keep the trans geometry, the two aryl rings were linked to the heteroaromatic core in a 1,3 fashion. Based on this design, we successfully prepared a variety of 1,4-, 2,4- and 2,5-diaryl substituted imidazoles including Res analogues 1, 2 and 3, respectively, by procedures that involve transition metal-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions and highly selective N-H or C-H direct arylation reactions as key synthetic steps.
The anticancer activity of compounds 1â3 was evaluated against the 60 human cancer cell lines panel of the National Cancer Institute (NCI, USA). The obtained results, that will be showed and discussed along with the protocols developed for the preparation of imidazoles 1â3, confirmed that a structural optimization of Res may provide analogues with improved potency in inhibiting the growth of human cancer cell lines in vitro when compared to their natural lead.

Measurement of the top quark forward-backward production asymmetry and the anomalous chromoelectric and chromomagnetic moments in pp collisions at âs = 13 TeV
Abstract The parton-level top quark (t) forward-backward asymmetry and the anomalous chromoelectric (dÌ t) and chromomagnetic (ÎŒÌ t) moments have been measured using LHC pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected in the CMS detector in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fbâ1. The linearized variable AFB(1) is used to approximate the asymmetry. Candidate t t ÂŻ events decaying to a muon or electron and jets in final states with low and high Lorentz boosts are selected and reconstructed using a fit of the kinematic distributions of the decay products to those expected for t t ÂŻ final states. The values found for the parameters are AFB(1)=0.048â0.087+0.095(stat)â0.029+0.020(syst),ÎŒÌt=â0.024â0.009+0.013(stat)â0.011+0.016(syst), and a limit is placed on the magnitude of | dÌ t| < 0.03 at 95% confidence level. Measurement of prompt open-charm production cross sections in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV
The production cross sections for prompt open-charm mesons in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV are reported. The measurement is performed using a data sample collected by the CMS experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 29 nb(-1). The differential production cross sections of the D*(+/-), D-+/-, and D-0 ((D) over bar (0)) mesons are presented in ranges of transverse momentum and pseudorapidity 4 < p(T) < 100 GeV and vertical bar eta vertical bar < 2.1, respectively. The results are compared to several theoretical calculations and to previous measurements.Peer reviewe
