Measurement of D s ± production asymmetry in pp collisions at √s=7 and 8 TeV
The inclusive production asymmetry is measured in collisions
collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of
and 8 TeV. Promptly produced mesons are used, which decay as
, with . The measurement is
performed in bins of transverse momentum, , and rapidity, ,
covering the range GeV and . No kinematic
dependence is observed. Evidence of nonzero production asymmetry is
found with a significance of 3.3 standard deviations.Comment: All figures and tables, along with any supplementary material and

Search for CP violation in Λb0→pK− and Λb0→pπ− decays
A search for CP violation in Λb0→pK− and Λb0→pπ− decays is presented using a sample of pp collisions collected with the LHCb detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0fb−1. The CP -violating asymmetries are measured to be ACPpK−=−0.020±0.013±0.019 and ACPpπ−=−0.035±0.017±0.020, and their difference ACPpK−−ACPpπ−=0.014±0.022±0.010, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These are the most precise measurements of such asymmetries to date

Measurement of asymmetry in decays
We report the measurements of the -violating parameters in decays observed in collisions, using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of recorded with the LHCb detector. We measure , , , , , where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These parameters are used together with the world-average value of the mixing phase, , to obtain a measurement of the CKM angle from decays, yielding \gamma = (128\,_{-22}^{+17})^\circ modulo , where the uncertainty contains both statistical and systematic contributions. This corresponds to evidence for violation in the interference between decay and decay after mixing. We report the measurements of the CP -violating parameters in B → D K decays observed in pp collisions, using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb recorded with the LHCb detector. We measure C = 0.73 ± 0.14 ± 0.05, A = 0.39 ± 0.28 ± 0.15, , S = −0.52 ± 0.20 ± 0.07, , where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These parameters are used together with the world-average value of the B mixing phase, −2β , to obtain a measurement of the CKM angle γ from B → D K decays, yielding γ = (128 )° modulo 180°, where the uncertainty contains both statistical and systematic contributions. This corresponds to 3.8 σ evidence for CP violation in the interference between decay and decay after mixing
Measurement of the electron reconstruction efficiency at LHCb
The single electron track-reconstruction efficiency is calibrated using a sample corresponding to 1.3 fb−1 of pp collision data recorded with the LHCb detector in 2017. This measurement exploits B+→ J/ψ(e+e−)K+ decays, where one of the electrons is fully reconstructed and paired with the kaon, while the other electron is reconstructed using only the information of the vertex detector. Despite this partial reconstruction, kinematic and geometric constraints allow the B meson mass to be reconstructed and the signal to be well separated from backgrounds. This in turn allows the electron reconstruction efficiency to be measured by matching the partial track segment found in the vertex detector to tracks found by LHCb's regular reconstruction algorithms. The agreement between data and simulation is evaluated, and corrections are derived for simulated electrons in bins of kinematics. These correction factors allow LHCb to measure branching fractions involving single electrons with a systematic uncertainty below 1%

A Comparison of CPU and GPU Implementations for the LHCb Experiment Run 3 Trigger
Funder: CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research)AbstractThe Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) experiment at CERN is undergoing an upgrade in preparation for the Run 3 data collection period at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). As part of this upgrade, the trigger is moving to a full software implementation operating at the LHC bunch crossing rate. We present an evaluation of a CPU-based and a GPU-based implementation of the first stage of the high-level trigger. After a detailed comparison, both options are found to be viable. This document summarizes the performance and implementation details of these options, the outcome of which has led to the choice of the GPU-based implementation as the baseline.</jats:p
Studies of the resonance structure in D0→K∓π±π±π∓ decays
Amplitude models are constructed to describe the resonance structure of D0→K−π+π+π− and D0→K+π−π−π+ decays using pp collision data collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 . The largest contributions to both decay amplitudes are found to come from axial resonances, with decay modes D0→a1(1260)+K− and D0→K1(1270/1400)+π− being prominent in D0→K−π+π+π− and D0→K+π−π−π+ , respectively. Precise measurements of the lineshape parameters and couplings of the a1(1260)+ , K1(1270)− and K(1460)− resonances are made, and a quasi model-independent study of the K(1460)− resonance is performed. The coherence factor of the decays is calculated from the amplitude models to be RK3π=0.459±0.010(stat)±0.012(syst)±0.020(model) , which is consistent with direct measurements. These models will be useful in future measurements of the unitary-triangle angle γ and studies of charm mixing and CP violation
Measurements of the branching fractions of Λ c + → pπ−π+, Λ c + → pK−K+, and Λ c + → pπ−K+
The ratios of the branching fractions of the decays , , and with respect to the Cabibbo-favoured decay are measured using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at a 7 TeV centre-of-mass energy and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb: \begin{align*} \frac{\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p \pi^{-} \pi^{+})}{\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p K^{-} \pi^{+})} & = (7.44 \pm 0.08 \pm 0.18)\,\%, \\ \frac{\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p K^{-} K^{+})}{\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p K^{-} \pi^{+})} &= (1.70 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.03)\,\%, \\ \frac{\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p \pi^{-} K^{+})}{\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p K^{-} \pi^{+})} & = (0.165 \pm 0.015 \pm 0.005 )\,\%, \end{align*} where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These results are the most precise measurements of these quantities to date. When multiplied by the world-average value for , the corresponding branching fractions are \begin{align*} \mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p \pi^{-} \pi^{+}) &= (4.72 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.25) \times 10^{-3}, \\ \mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p K^{-} K^{+}) &= (1.08 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.06) \times 10^{-3}, \\ \mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p \pi^{-} K^{+}) &= (1.04 \pm 0.09 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.05) \times 10^{-4}, \end{align*} where the final uncertainty is due to
Measurement of CP asymmetry in B-s(0) -> (DsK +/-)-K--/+ decays
We report the measurements of the CP-violating parameters in B-s(0) -> (DsK +/-)-K--/+ decays observed in pp collisions, using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) recorded with the LHCb detector. We measure C-f = 0.73 +/- 0.14 +/- 0.05, A(f)(Delta Gamma) = 0.39 +/- 0.28 +/- 0.15, A() = 0.31 +/- 0.28 +/- 0.15, S-f = -0.52 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.07, S-(f) over bar = -0.49 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.07, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These parameters are used together with the world-average value of the B-s(0) mixing phase, -2 beta(s), to obtain a measurement of the CKM angle gamma from B-s(0) -> (DsK +/-)-K--/+ decays, yielding gamma - (128 (+17)(-22))degrees modulo 180 degrees, where the uncertainty contains both statistical and systematic contributions. This corresponds to 3.8 sigma evidence for CP violation in the interference between decay and decay after mixing
