The effect of an edible coating (EC) with 1.5% chitosan as an additive, on common carp (Cyprinus carpio) fillet, was determined
evaluating the biochemical, physicochemical, textural, microbiological, and nutritional characteristics periodically during its
hydroperoxides content (HPC) (0.8324 nM hydroperoxides/mg of protein versus 0.5540 nM/mg with regard to the EC sample),
as well as protein carbonyl content (PCC) (0.5860 nM versus 0.4743 nM of reactive carbonyl groups/mg of protein of noncoated
material), keeping properties for a longer period of time, and a lower protein solubility (7.8 mg of supernatant protein/mg of total
microbialgrowth,thecountwas2.2×10 CFU/gofsampleinmesophilesversus4.7×10 intheECsample.Theresultsindicatethat the use of EC added with chitosan maintains the quality of the product regarding lipid and protein oxidation until fourth month of storage, maintaining moisture content without variation for at least 3 months, and inhibits microbial growth up to 2 logarithmic units, during five months of frozen storage

Effect of Chia Seed on Physicochemical and Sensory Characteristics of Common Carp Restructured as Functional Food
Physicochemical and sensory characteristics of restructured meat of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) fortified with 0-8 g/100 g of chia seed flour (CSF) was evaluated. It had a higher nutritional value (higher fibre content and protein retention] (p < 0.05) and better cooking characteristics (higher cooking yield and moisture retention) (p < 0.05) than the control. The colour (a*, b*) increased; lightness and whiteness index decrease (p < 0.05). Hardness increase (p < 0.05) occurred because of CSF addition. Differential scanning calorimetry showed that fibre fortification did not interfere with the thermal transitions of the restructured meat. No significant differences were detected with the preference test scores of 4% or 8% CSF compared with the control. Restructured (4%-8% CSF) had a higher content of fibre and fat, which could be linoleic and linolenic acid, and an increase in the content of protein compared with those of commercial products, among had 1.62 and 2.25 mg AGE/g. Association of genetic variants in RAB23 and ANXA11 with uveitis in sarcoidosis
Purpose Uveitis occurs in a subset of patients with sarcoidosis. The purpose of this study was to determine whether genetic variants that have been associated previously with overall sarcoidosis are associated with increased risk of developing uveitis. Methods: Seventy-seven subjects were enrolled, including 45 patients diagnosed with sarcoidosis-related uveitis as cases and 32 patients with systemic sarcoidosis without ocular involvement as controls. Thirty-eight single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) previously associated with sarcoidosis, sarcoidosis severity, or other organ-specific sarcoidosis involvement were identified. Allele frequencies in ocular sarcoidosis cases versus controls were compared using the chi-square test, and p values were corrected for multiple hypotheses testing using permutation. All analyses were conducted with PLINK. Results: SNPs rs1040461 and rs61860052, in ras-related protein RAS23 (RAB23) and annexin A11 (ANXA11) genes, respectively, were associated with sarcoidosis-associated uveitis. The T allele of rs1040461 and the A allele of rs61860052 were found to be more prevalent in ocular sarcoidosis cases. These associations remained after correction for the multiple hypotheses tested (p=0.01 and p=0.02). In a subanalysis of Caucasian Americans only, two additional variants within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) genes on chromosome 6, in HLA-DRB5 and HLA-DRB1, were associated with uveitis as well (p=0.009 and p=0.04). Conclusions: Genetic variants in RAB23 and ANXA11 genes were associated with an increased risk of sarcoidosis-associated uveitis. Legionnaires’ Disease Outbreak in Murcia, Spain
An explosive outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease occurred in Murcia, Spain, in July 2001. More than 800 suspected cases were reported; 449 of these cases were confirmed, which made this the world’s largest outbreak of the disease reported to date. Dates of onset for confirmed cases ranged from June 26 to July 19 , with a case-fatality rate of 1%. The epidemic curve and geographic pattern from the 600 completed epidemiologic questionnaires indicated an outdoor point-source exposure in the northern part of the city. A case-control study matching 85 patients living outside the city of Murcia with two controls each was undertaken to identify the outbreak source; the epidemiologic investigation implicated the cooling towers at a city hospital. An environmental isolate from these towers with an identical molecular pattern as the clinical isolates was subsequently identified and supported that epidemiologic conclusion

Panel-based Genetic Diagnostic Testing for Inherited Eye Diseases is Highly Accurate and Reproducible and More Sensitive for Variant Detection Than Exome Sequencing
Purpose Next-generation sequencing (NGS) based methods are being adopted broadly for genetic diagnostic testing, but the performance characteristics of these techniques have not been fully defined with regard to test accuracy and reproducibility. Methods: We developed a targeted enrichment and NGS approach for genetic diagnostic testing of patients with inherited eye disorders, including inherited retinal degenerations, optic atrophy and glaucoma. In preparation for providing this Genetic Eye Disease (GEDi) test on a CLIA-certified basis, we performed experiments to measure the sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility as well as the clinical sensitivity of the test. Results: The GEDi test is highly reproducible and accurate, with sensitivity and specificity for single nucleotide variant detection of 97.9% and 100%, respectively. The sensitivity for variant detection was notably better than the 88.3% achieved by whole exome sequencing (WES) using the same metrics, due to better coverage of targeted genes in the GEDi test compared to commercially available exome capture sets. Prospective testing of 192 patients with IRDs indicated that the clinical sensitivity of the GEDi test is high, with a diagnostic rate of 51%. Conclusion: The data suggest that based on quantified performance metrics, selective targeted enrichment is preferable to WES for genetic diagnostic testing

El presente reporte da cuenta del proceso de intervención universitaria en el municipio de Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco, México, a través del PAP “Gobiernos Municipales: por un desarrollo local basado en la gobernanza democrática”, cuyo propósito general es:
Contribuir a la promoción de la cultura de paz, la economía social y solidaria y la promoción de los DDHH en Tlajomulco, desde la Dirección General de Cultura de Paz y Gobernanza, a través de analizar, conocer, difundir documentar y evaluar situaciones relacionadas con la construcción de espacios de paz basados en la economía social y solidaria y la difusión de los DDHH, en la construcción de una ciudad en paz y segura, que, desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar, da continuidad a los proyectos emprendidos durante el periodo anterior, referidos al rescate y apropiación social de los espacios públicos desde la perspectiva de la paz positiva, impulso a las iniciativas de emprendimiento y formación en finanzas para los jóvenes del municipio.
En el periodo de primavera 2022, se tuvieron los siguientes objetivos:
• Elaborar el diseño de un espacio público, como respuesta a una demanda de los vecinos del fraccionamiento Sendero Real, a través de las mesas de paz, que implementa el gobierno municipal de Tlajomulco de Zúñiga.
• Responder a la demanda de apoyo del sector juvenil de Tlajomulco y El Salto, expresada en los talleres de diagnóstico promovidos por el Instituto de la Juventud Tlajomulquense y del Instituto de la Juventud del Salto.
• Diseñar y aplicar una evaluación de los programas públicos de mesas de paz y chamba para todos.
La metodología aplicada implico la intervención de estudiantes de diferentes disciplinas a partir de grupos sociales específicos que presentan demandas de atención para la recuperación de sus espacios públicos y por tanto requieren de acompañamiento para el diseño de estos, el impulso al emprendimiento través de la realización de Podcast dirigidos a los jóvenes, la integración y aplicación de una propuesta de evaluación de los programas públicos “mesas de paz” y “”chamba para todos”.ITESO, A.C
Highlights from the Pierre Auger Observatory
The Pierre Auger Observatory is the world's largest cosmic ray observatory.
Our current exposure reaches nearly 40,000 km str and provides us with an
unprecedented quality data set. The performance and stability of the detectors
and their enhancements are described. Data analyses have led to a number of
major breakthroughs. Among these we discuss the energy spectrum and the
searches for large-scale anisotropies. We present analyses of our X
data and show how it can be interpreted in terms of mass composition. We also
describe some new analyses that extract mass sensitive parameters from the 100%
duty cycle SD data. A coherent interpretation of all these recent results opens
new directions. The consequences regarding the cosmic ray composition and the

Measurement of the ttbar Production Cross Section in ppbar Collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV using Lepton + Jets Events with Secondary Vertex b-tagging
We present a measurement of the ttbar production cross section using events
with one charged lepton and jets from ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass
energy of 1.96 TeV. In these events, heavy flavor quarks from top quark decay
are identified with a secondary vertex tagging algorithm. From 162 pb-1 of data
collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab, a total of 48 candidate events
are selected, where 13.5 +- 1.8 events are expected from background
contributions. We measure a ttbar production cross section of 5.6^{+1.2}_{-1.1}
