Information as the fourth vital element and its influence on the culture of peoples

Almongst the various possible subjects that occurred to me within the fields of experimental science and the humanities, I decided to choose a question of great importance today –that of information and its influence on the historical evolution of the culture of peoples. Through this subject, I shall be able to explain, in general terms, my thoughts and opinions, which I would like to believe contain philosophical and historical traces. Inspired by contemporary philosophers, Dr. Martínez Fornes is of the idea that, as Alonso Quijano died unmarried and without issue, we are all children of Sancho Panza –positivistic, realistic, with our ___ the ground, somewhat pessimistic, without a trace of spirituality. I, if you will permit me, prefer to think that I have descended from Don Quijote´s niece; and that I have inherited some genes from an idealist, dreamer and, to some extent, and optimist. With this mixture of Don Quijote and Sancho, I shall now go on to give my talk on the subject “Information as the fourth vital element and its influence on the culture of peoples”

Historical way of the ISKO Spanish Chapter until 1998

[Resumen] Este trabajo proporciona una visión de la historia del Capítulo español (ISKO-España), de la Sociedad Internacional para la Organización del Conocimiento (ISKO), desde su fundación hasta el año 1998. Año en que Emilia Currás dejó la Presidencia. Se mencionan los orígenes de la Sociedad Internacional, cuando Ingetraut Dahlberg creó la Sociedad. Asimismo, se relatan las relaciones profesionales creadas entre ambas especialistas de donde se tomó la decisión de nombrar a Emilia Currás como responsable del desarrollo de ISKO-Internacional en España, como igualmente la creación del Capítulo Español (ISKO-España). Se relacionan, también, los distintos Congresos y Reuniones que tuvieron lugar en aquellos años. Igualmente, se describe la evolución del citado Capítulo español, citando datos importantes. Finalmente, se citan los cambios que se sucedieron en ISKO-Internacional, y en ISKO-España, en el año 1998. Este Capítulo ya estaba consolidado, causa por la cual Emilia Currás consideró terminada su labor, como miembro activo, y decidió dejarlo en manos de otros profesionales.[Abstract] This paper gives a short overview of the history of the Spanish Chapter of the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO); from its founding up to 1998, the year in which Emilia Currás resigned as it President. The beginnings of the International Society are mentioned, when Dr. Ingetraut Dahlberg created it; as well as the close relationship between her and Dr. Currás, which induced her to become the person in charge of organizing and creating ISKO-Spain. An account is also given of the different Congresses and Meetings that took place over these first years of the Spanish Chapter; as well as of the evolution in the number of ISKO members in Spain. Lastly, a report is given of the changes that the Society underwent in 1998, and how these influenced its Spanish Council Board

La sociedad de la información : cuestión de suma actualidad

The evolution of information society all over the years and different countries, Spain included, is studied. This topic is considered as well from different points of view, among which social and economic aspects are included. General aspects of globalisation, its repercussions in socioeducational new paradigms, its importance in technological evolution, its interrelations both at national and international level are also included. The information society is studied as it is necessary to consider its relation with the knowledge and cybernetic society, where virtual information systems are included. The information architecture, its management, organisation, and dissemination of knowledge created as a consequence of the influence of information, is also mentioned. Finally, it is intended to give a complete vision, a compendium, where the last conlcusion is inquiring or should be Global Knowledge Society or Global Society of Knowledge

El conflicto pesquero hispano británico en el marco de la política común de pesca

En los últimos tiempos Reino Unido ha venido solicitando en el marco de la Conferencia Intergubernamental de la Unión Europea la modificación del Tratado de Roma con el fin de poder restringir la actividad de barcos de otros Estados miembros, en su mayoría españoles, que tras registrarse en ese país utilizan la cuota pesquera asignada a Reino Unido por la Política Común de Pesca (PCP). El propósito de este trabajo es analizar este conflicto pesquero conocido como «quota hopping». A partir de ciertas consideraciones teóricas sobre gestión de los recursos pesqueros y de los orígenes de la PCP, se tratan las diferentes realidades pesqueras que presentan España y Reino Unido, el desarrollo de la actividad de la flota española en las aguas comunitarias, así como la dimensión del conflicto, para finalizar con las últimas directrices en materia de revisión de la política comunitaria

Evaluación de estudiantes y calidad docente en la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela: propuestas de mejora

En este artículo presentamos una síntesis de algunas de las conclusiones a las que llegamos tras el análisis de percepciones de estudiantes y directores de departamento de la universidad de compostela sobre la forma en que se entiende y desarrolla la evaluación de estudiantes. situándonos en un enfoque interpretativo-etnográfico, creemos que conocer en qué aspectos coinciden las percepciones de colectivos tan distintos como los de estudiantes y directores de departamento de diferentes áreas de conocimiento nos puede ofrecer pistas para identificar algunas de las claves culturales presentes en la evaluación de estudiantes, al mismo tiempo que nos aporta información muy valiosa sobre algunos de sus puntos fuertes y de sus debilidades a tener en cuenta en cualquier intento de mejora de la calidad docente.In this article, we present a synthesis of the conclusion that we come with the analysis of perceptions of students and department directors about the students’ evaluation in santiago de compostela university. We believe that to know in which aspects are agree the perceptions of groups as different as students and department directors could give us trails for identify some of the culture keys of the students’ evaluation, at the same time that it provides valuable information about some of the strong and weak points to take into account for improve the quality of university teaching
