    Search for a W ' boson decaying to a muon and a neutrino in pp collisions at √s =7 TeV

The official published version can be accessed from the link below - Copyright @ 2011 ElsevierA new heavy gauge boson, W', decaying to a muon and a neutrino, is searched for in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass of 7 TeV. The data, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 36 inverse picobarns. No significant excess of events above the standard model expectation is found in the transverse mass distribution of the muon-neutrino system. Masses below 1.40 TeV are excluded at the 95% confidence level for a sequential standard-model-like W'.     Not AvailableA foolproof method of micropropagation through in vitro shoot bud culture has been developed in guava cv. ‘Allahabad Safeda’. The stock plant of guava was maintained at shade net house (75% shade) and pruned severely to encourage new growth. Around 3 cm long shoots were excised and defoliated. The explants were pretreated in solution containing 0.1% Carbendazime and 100 mg/L PVP for 1 hour and then washed with Tween-20 wetting agent. The pretreated explants were further treated with HgCl2 0.1% for 5 minutes aseptically followed by six washing in autoclaved distilled water. The sterilized explants were cultured on MS medium supplemented with BAP (3.0 mg/L) for shoot bud induction and proliferation. The proliferated shoots were then subcultured on MS medium containing 10 mg/L IBA for rhizogenesis. The rooted plants were finally shifted to autoclaved coconut husk fortified with ½ MS salt mixture for acclimatization. Acclimatized plantlets of guava cv. Allahabad Safeda were planted.Not Availabl

    Not AvailableMaximum mortality of micropropagated plants occur during acclimatization phase because plantlets undergo rapid and extreme changes in physiological functioning, histological and biochemical changes. In order to investigate the actual reason of this limitation, test samples were collected at different stages of micropropagation of Aegle marmelos Corr. (In vitro stage, acclimation stage, and field established plants). The biochemical result showed that micropropagated plantlets produced significantly low total chlorophyll (0.042 mg/g fresh weight), reducing sugar (3.227%), NR activity (1.353 NO2/h/g fresh weight) and but higher protein (0.048 Âľg/g) during in vitro phase. The in vitro raised plants showed abnormal histological features like altered leaf mesophyll, absence of thick cuticle, sunken stomata, poorly developed stem and root histology. These results revealed that the photoautrophic mode of nutrition during in vitro phase increased the survival rate during acclimatization compared to photoheterotrophic mode of nutrition. This suggests that photoautotrophism phenemoneon has substantial influence on the physiology and development of in vitro regenerated Aegle marmelos Corr. plantlets.Not Availabl

    Research question: What is the nutritional status of primary school children in rural area of Varanasi and what factors are associated with malnutrition? Objective: To assess the nutritional status of primary school children in rural Varanasi and to find out various socio-demographic correlates of nutritional status. Study Design: Descriptive cross sectional study. Setting: Four primary schools from Chiraigaon Community Development Block of Varanasi were selected for study purpose. Participants: Eight hundred and sixteen students from four schools were involved in the study. Results: Out of total 816 study subjects 429 or 52.6% (201 boys and 228 girls) were underweight and 75 or 9.2% (39 boys and 36 girls) were stunted. Educational status of the parents was found to be significantly associated with the nutritional status of school children Conclusion: As the literacy status of the parents has been revealed to be strongly associated with nutritional status of children, there is an increasing need to focus the efforts towards the parents to improve the nutritional status of primary school children
