A Wikilivros como recursos educacionais abertos : criação de um livro sobre comunicação online e aprendizagem

O presente trabalho pretende contribuir para a criação de um Livro Aberto (sobre Comunicação Online e Aprendizagem) e enquadra-se dentro da constelação de iniciativas que têm pontuado os desenvolvimentos mais recentes do movimento da “Educação Aberta”, dos quais se destaca o movimento dos Recursos Educacionais Abertos (REAs). Apesar da sua vitalidade no momento atual, subsistem, no entanto, várias críticas em relação aos REAs, uma vez que parece supor-se que a simples disponibilização de recursos educacionais em repositórios garantiria um acesso mais justo e equitativo à educação. Surge nesse contexto a noção de “Práticas Educacionais Abertas” (PEA) de que o presente trabalho é um reflexo, uma vez que constitui uma tentativa de situar os REAs não apenas a partir da utilização de repositórios estáticos, mas inserindo-os numa prática pedagógica concreta onde os estudantes assumem a produção, edição, reedição e reutilização de conteúdos, dentro da dinâmica de funcionamento da sala de aula virtual, e tendo como objetivo central a produção de um Livro Aberto na Plataforma Wikilivros. Previamente à produção deste livro foram exploradas e analisadas duas plataformas, a OpenStax CNX e a Wikilivros, sendo esta última a escolhida para servir de suporte à criação de um REA em forma de um livro aberto e online. Não foi objetivo neste estudo a construção de uma plataforma informática nova, mas sim fazer uso de uma já existente e disponível online, que fosse adaptável de tal forma que se pudesse orientar às necessidades do projeto. Utilizámos, numa primeira fase, uma metodologia exploratória que permitiu selecionar a plataforma utilizada neste estudo e, numa segunda fase, uma abordagem metodológica de Design-Based Research, que permitiu fazer o acompanhamento das produções dos sujeitos ao longo de várias iterações. A experiência foi desenvolvida e analisada nas suas diversas dimensões através da utilização de questionários que avaliaram as atitudes e perceções dos estudantes face a questões como: a autoria e a coautoria, plágio, utilização e reutilização de REAs, e disponibilidade para tornar públicos os seus trabalhos, no quadro dos processos de produção e reutilização de REAs. Constatámos que, não sendo ainda a publicação de conteúdos com licenciamento aberto uma prática habitual e generalizada entre os participantes deste estudo, revelou-se que é uma prática para a qual os estudantes estão abertos e recetivos, dando origem à produção de conteúdos instanciados em artefactos digitais como o WikiLivros, sendo estes geradores de motivação, satisfação e interesse entre os estudantes.This study intends to contribute to the creation of an Open Book (on Online Communication and Learning Book) and is part of the constellation of initiatives that have punctuated the most recent developments of the “Open Education” movement, which highlights the movement of Open Educational Resources (OER). Despite its vitality at the present time, however, a number of criticisms remain against OER, since it seems to be assumed that simply providing educational resources in repositories would ensure a fairer and more equitable access to education. In this context, the notion of "Open Educational Practices" (OEP) arises as a reflex of the the present work, when trying to situate the OER not only from the use of static repositories, but inserting them into a concrete pedagogical practice where students assume the production, editing, re-editing and re-use of contents, within the dynamics of the virtual classroom, with the view to the production of an Open Book, using the Wikibooks Platform. Prior to the production of this book, OpenStax CNX and Wikibooks plataforms have been explored and analyzed, being the last one chosen to be the support for the creation of a OER in the form of an online open book. This study didn’t intend to build a new computing platform, but rather to make use of an existing one available online that would be malleable in such a way that it would fit the needs of the project. In the first phase, we used an exploratory methodology that allowed us to select the platform used in this study, and in a second phase a methodological approach of Design-Based Research, which allowed us to follow the productions of the subjects over several iterations. The experience was analyzed and evaluated in several dimensions through the use of questionnaires that evaluated students attitudes and perceptions regarding issues such as: authorship and co-authorship, plagiarism, use and re-use of OER, and availability to make public their productions using the framework of production and re-use processes of OER. We have noticed that the publication of content with open licensing is not yet a common and widespread practice among the participants of this study, but it is a practice for which students are open and receptive, giving rise to the production of contents instantiated in digital artifacts such as The WikiLivros, being a generator of motivation, satisfaction and interest among students

A criação de um recurso educacional aberto online utilizando a Wikilivros

Este estudo enquadra-se dentro de inúmeras iniciativas que têm pontuado o desenvolvimento do movimento da “Educação Aberta” de que se destaca o movimento dos Recursos Educacionais Abertos. Foi utilizado, neste trabalho, a plataforma da Wikilivros como suporte à construção de um livro aberto online (Comunicação Online e Aprendizagem). A criação deste livro dá suporte ao conceito de “Práticas Educacionais Abertas”, concretizando uma prática pedagógica onde os estudantes assumem a produção, edição, reedição e reutilização de conteúdos, em contraste com o uso de recursos já prontos e disponíveis em repositórios estáticos. Participaram na criação deste Recurso Educacional Aberto os estudantes de Mestrado e Doutoramento da Universidade Aberta de Lisboa, que em turmas sucessivas, foram criando e melhorando de forma colaborativa o livro final, para isso foi utilizada uma metodologia de desenvolvimento, que permitiu fazer o acompanhamento das produções dos sujeitos ao longo das várias iterações. O resultado foi analisado em várias das suas dimensões, recorrendo à utilização de questionários que permitiram avaliar as atitudes e perceções dos estudantes face a questões como a autoria e a coautoria, o plágio, a utilização e reutilização dos seus textos e ainda da sua disponibilidade de tornar públicos os seus trabalhos. Os resultados obtidos foram gratificantes, pois foi reconhecido como muito importante e válida esta prática coletiva, colaborativa e partilhada, gerando motivação e satisfação. O trabalho final ficou disponível na plataforma da Wikilivros de forma aberta, livre e gratuita para todos.This study is part of a number of initiatives that have punctuated the development of the "Open Education" movement that highlights the Open Educational Resources movement. In this work, the Wikibooks platform was used to support the construction of an online open book (Online Communication and Learning). The creation of this book supports the concept of "Open Educational Practices", materializing a pedagogical practice where students assume the production, edition, reissue and reuse of contents, in contrast to the use of resources already ready and available in static repositories. Participating in the creation of this Open Educational Resource were the Masters and Doctoral students of the Universidade Aberta de Lisboa, who in successive classes were creating and improving collaboratively the final book, for that was used a development methodology, which allowed to follow the productions of the subjects over the various iterations. The result was analyzed in several of its dimensions, using questionnaires that allowed to evaluate students' attitudes and perceptions regarding issues such as authorship and co-authorship, plagiarism, use and reuse of their texts and their availability make their work public. The results obtained were gratifying, since this collective, collaborative and shared practice was recognized as very important and valid, generating motivation and satisfaction. Airborne ultrasonic vortex generation using flexible ferroelectrets

Cellular ferroelectrets exhibit interesting electromechanical- acoustical characteristics. Their recent appearance and remarkable properties open up new possibilities for the design and development of ultrasonic transducers. In particular, the feasibility of fabricating ultrasonic vortex generators using ferroelectret films is demonstrated in this work. To this end, a transducer prototype was built by gluing the material onto a tangential-helical surface (outer diameter: 40 mm, pitch: 3.45 mm). Experimental results agree well with the theoretical estimation of the pressure and phase of the acoustic field in the near field and far field, which corroborates the potential of ferroelectrets to customize special acoustic fields. Furthermore, the proposed fabrication procedure is inexpensive and represents a new alternative for exploring and analyzing the special characteristics of acoustical helical wavefront

Risk security evaluation of the Port of Alicante with the Mosler Method

Siendo el objetivo del presente trabajo la evaluación del riesgo de protección del Puerto de Alicante; como pueden ser la inmigración ilegal, ataques terroristas, catástrofes naturales o actos de menor gravedad y motivado por la importancia que conlleva la realización de un buen plan de protección, me he basado en el sistema de análisis secuencial de riesgo Mosler, que es la base del sistema informático Security Port de la Comunidad Europea utilizado en la actualidad por las Autoridades Portuarias para la realización de los planes de protección. En primer lugar, se procederá a explicar los orígenes del Puerto de Alicante, así como su evolución, dimensiones, terminales que se encuentran en su área y aquellas que trabajan hoy en día; además de describirlo geográfica, física, climatológica y funcionalmente. Una vez conocido el puerto de Alicante, se continuará introduciendo el método que se ha utilizado para la evaluación, es decir, el Método Mosler; explicando la manera que éste tiene para evaluar los factores de riesgo que posiblemente dañen las instalaciones si no se aplican los sistemas de seguridad adecuados. Dentro del capítulo donde se explica el Método, en su segunda fase se realizará el análisis de cada uno de los factores de riesgo que podemos encontrar en el Puerto de Alicante, esto es, todas aquellas vulnerabilidades que pueden darse en la instalación portuaria y que ponen en peligro su integridad, así como la de los trabajadores; continuando con la utilización del Método para lograr determinar los niveles de cada uno de ellos y su rango de peligrosidad. Con ello conseguiremos visualizar cuales son aquellas zonas que necesitan mayor vigilancia y medidas contingentes para evitar males mayores o si el nivel de riesgo es adecuado y seguro. Por último, encontraremos las conclusiones obtenidas tras analizar los riesgos que se pueden ocasionar en el ámbito de la protección marítima, con el objetivo de evitar y minimizar el daño que cualquiera de estas situaciones pudiera provocar a las instalaciones marítimo-portuarias del Puerto de Alicante y se comparará con el nivel establecido por el Gobierno de España.The objective of this Work is to evaluate the security risk from the Port of Alicante, such as illegal immigration, terrorist attacks, natural disasters or acts of lesser gravity, and motivated about the importance of a Self-Security Plan entails, I have based on the sequential risk analysis system Mosler. It is the base of the European Community Computer System Security Port, which is used for the Port Authorities to make de self-security plans nowadays. First of all, I have proceeded to explain the origins of the Port of Alicante and its evolution, dimensions, terminals which are in the port area and those who work today. Furthermore, I have described it geographically, physically, climatology and functionally. Once known the Port of Alicante, I have continued introducing the method which I have used to the evaluation, this is, the Mosler Method; explaining how it works to evaluate the risk factors which damage the installation if we do not apply the correct safety systems. In the chapter where the method is explained, in the second phase, I have done the analysis of each risk factor that we can find in the Port of Alicante, this is, all of the vulnerabilities. Those vulnerabilities could happen in the port installation and endanger its integrity and the human life. After this part, I have continued using the Mosler Method to determine the levels of each risk factors. With that, we dig out what zones need a big vigilance and contingent measures to avoid worst damages or if the level is right and secure. Finally, we can find the conclusions which I have obtained after studying the risks which could be done in the maritime security. It has the objective to avoid and minimize the damage from any of these situations could be provoked to the maritime installation of the Port of Alicante.
