    Working at the marketing and communication department of a french non-profit professional organization promoting Chablis wines in France and overseas

    This report presents the internship realized within the framework of the master’s degree in Intercultural Studies for Business from the Porto Business School (ISCAP, Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Admnistraçao do Porto). This internship was carried out within the marketing and communication team of the Bureau Interprofessionel des Vins de Bourgogne, a French non-profit professional organization promoting Chablis wines in France and overseas. As a consequence of globalization, personal and professional interactions between different cultures soared during the 21st century. In the business world, this has a direct impact on the marketing and communication strategies: they have to be adapted to the other cultures in order to be successful. This implies a great knowledge of interculturality and good intercultural competences. The purpose of this report is to explain key notions such as marketing, communication, culture and interculturality. It aims to reflect on the impact of globalization and interculturality on the marketing and communication strategies of a non-profit professional organization. It also intends to describe the missions and projects carried out during this whole six-months internship experience.Este relatório apresenta o estágio curricular realizado no âmbito do mestrado em Estudos Interculturais para Negócios do Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração do Porto (ISCAP). Foi realizado no âmbito da equipa de marketing e comunicação do Bureau Interprofessionel des Vins de Bourgogne, uma organização profissional francesa sem fins lucrativos que promove os vinhos Chablis em França e no estrangeiro. Como consequência da globalização, as interações pessoais e profissionais entre diferentes culturas aumentaram durante o século XXI. No mundo dos negócios, isto tem um impacto direto nas estratégias de marketing e na comunicação: ambas têm de ser adaptadas às outras culturas para serem bem sucedidas. Isto implica um grande conhecimento sobre interculturalidade e ter competências interculturais. O objetivo deste relatório é explicar os conceitos basilares como marketing, comunicação, cultura e interculturalidade.     Prédiction des contraintes résiduelles d'usinage

    Les contraintes résiduelles d'usinage résultent du chargement thermomécanique transitoire à l'interface entre l'outil et la pièce. La valeur de cette contrainte en surface ainsi que son gradient dans la profondeur jouent un rôle clé pour la durabilité des surfaces fonctionnelles. Un modèle de contact thermo-élastoplastique frottant/glissant a été développé. Il permet de simuler le contact entre un massif élastique en rotation autour de son axe, l'outil, et un massif élastoplastique en translation, la pièce. L'analyse inclut les effets normaux et tangentiels dus à l'effort normal et au frottement à l'interface. La dissipation à l'interface est également considérée. Des premiers résultats sont présentés pour des chargements thermomécaniques stationnaires ou transitoires

    Analyse d'un contact thermo-élasto-plastique rugueux par une méthode semi-analytique

    Dans les moteurs d'avion, l'utilisation de paliers inter-arbres est préconisée en vue d'un gain de masse non négligeable. Cependant, ce palier est très fortement sollicité par les excitations générées par les balourds présents sur les rotors et il est nécessaire d'introduire un amortissement supplémentaire pour préserver l'intégrité de la machine. La solution technologique retenue consiste à introduire un amortisseur à film fluide au niveau de ce palier inter-arbres. Cependant, ce type d'amortisseur peut engendrer des instabilités similaires à celles rencontrées dans les paliers hydrodynamiques classiques. On présente dans cet article un dispositif d'essais birotor permettant de tester différentes technologies de palier inter-arbres. Les essais montrent, pour des rotors co et contra rotatifs, que l'intégration d'un film fluide au niveau du palier inter-arbres permet d'atténuer les vibrations des rotors et confirment qu'il apparaît, dans certaines conditions, des instabilités

    To reduce the beam losses when preparing high intensity proton beam for the CERN Neutrino to Gran Sasso (CNGS) facility, a new Multi-Turn extraction (MTE) scheme has been implemented in the PS, to replace the present Continuous Transfer (CT) to the SPS. Industrial off-the-shelf components have been used for the low-level part of the MTE kicker control system. National Instruments PXI systems are used to control the high voltage pulse generators and a SIEMENS programmable logic controller (PLC) handles the centralised oil cooling and gas insulation sub-system

    Circulating protein biomarkers in systemic sclerosis related pulmonary arterial hypertension: a review of published data

    Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) develops in 7-12% of patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) and is associated with a 3 year survival of 52%. Early detection by screening is therefore recommended for all patients with SSc. Historically, screening has been performed using echocardiography and measurement of gas transfer. More recently the DETECT protocol, using a combination of biomarkers (including N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide) and clinical parameters, has been developed. The optimal method of screening for PAH with high sensitivity and specificity is, however, not clear. Protein expression differences between different SSc disease phenotypes have been reported, and include alterations in concentration of NT-proBNP, endoglin, soluble vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1, placenta growth factor, growth differentiation factor-15, vascular endothelial growth factor alpha, resistin-like molecule beta, and soluble thrombomodulin. This review summarizes the current knowledge of these protein changes in patients with SSc and PAH

    The impact of private equity on firms׳ patenting activity

    The paper analyses the impact of private equity (PE) backed leveraged buyouts (LBOs) on innovative output (patenting). Using a sample of 407 UK deals we find that LBOs have a positive causal effect on patent stock and quality-adjusted patent stock. Our results imply a 6% increase in quality-adjusted patent stock three years after the deal. The increase in innovative activity is concentrated among private-to-private transactions with a 14% increase in the quality-adjusted patent stock. We also find evidence suggesting that PE firms facilitate the relaxation of financial constraints. In sum, our findings suggest that PE firms do not promote short-term cost-cutting at the expense of entrepreneurial investment opportunities with a long-term pay-off

This article provides an overview of key highlights in pulmonary vascular diseases from the European Respiratory Society International Congress 2023. This includes insights into disease modification in pulmonary arterial hypertension and novel therapies such as sotatercept and seralutinib. Exciting developments in our understanding of the mechanisms underpinning pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease are also explored. A comprehensive overview of the complex relationship between acute pulmonary embolism and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is provided along with our current understanding of the molecular determinants of CTEPH. The importance of multidisciplinary and holistic care cannot be understated, and this article also addresses advances beyond medication, with a special focus on exercise training and rehabilitation

    Le champ de contraintes au sein des composants de machines est un indicateur important de défaillance due au contact. Dans ce travail, une analyse transitoire et tridimensionnelle est réalisée. Un algorithme rapide et robuste est proposé pour la résolution du contact vertical, roulant et glissant. La première partie de ce travail décrit l\u27algorithme utilisé pour formuler le contact vertical, qui peut être traité en imposant soit une charge, soit un déplacement. La manière de traiter le roulement et le glissement de deux corps en contact consiste à résoudre le contact thermo-élasto-plastique à chaque pas de temps en mettant à jour les géométries ainsi que l\u27écrouissage le long de la direction de roulement. L\u27application à la collision entre deux aspérités sphériques en glissement simple est développée. Finalement un modèle pour la prédiction de l\u27usure et du rodage basé sur l\u27enlèvement de matière durant un chargement cyclique est proposé
