FOXE1 regulates migration and invasion in thyroid cancer cells and targets ZEB1

FOXE1 is a thyroid-specific transcription factor essential for thyroid gland development and maintenance of the differentiated state. Interestingly, a strong association has been recently described between FOXE1 expression and susceptibility to thyroid cancer, but little is known about the mechanisms underlying FOXE1-induced thyroid tumorigenesis. Here, we used a panel of human thyroid cancer-derived cell line s covering the spectrum of thyroid cancer phenotypes to examine FOXE1 expression and to test for correlations between FOXE1 expression, the allele frequency of two SNPs and a length polymorphism in or near the FOXE1 locus associated with cancer susceptibility, and the migration ability of thyroid cancer cell lines. Results showed that FOXE1 expression correlated with differentiation status according to histological sub-type, but not with SNP genotype or cell migration ability. However, loss-and-gain-of-function experiments revealed that FOXE1 modulates cell migration, suggesting a role in epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Our previous genome-wide expression analysis identified Zeb1, a major EMT inducer, as a putative Foxe1 target gene. Indeed, gene silencing of FOXE1 decreased ZEB1 expression, whereas its overexpression increased ZEB1 transcriptional activity. FOXE1 was found to directly interact with the ZEB1 promoter. Lastly, ZEB1 silencing decreased the ability of thyroid tumoral cells to migrate and invade, pointing to its im portance in thyroid tumor mestastases. In conclusion, we have identified ZEB1 as a bona fide target of FOXE1 in thyroid cancer cells, which provides new insights into the role of FOXE1 in regulating cell migration and invasion in thyroid cancerThis work was supported by grants SAF2016-75531-R from Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (MICIU), Spain, Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional FEDER, B2017/BMD-3724 from Comunidad de Madrid, and GCB14142311CRES from Fundación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC)

Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are domains of research char- acterised by a great complexity due to their interdisciplinary nature. Although the interest in Occupational Health & Safety issues in the context of Corporate Social Responsibility has recently increased, more effort is needed to address the complexity of both research areas and to understand the dynamic and implications of their relationship. This research describes and analyses the state of the art in the literature and potential areas for further research regarding OHS and CSR. In total, 289 articles published between 1995 and 2018 related to both CSR and OHS were identified in the most reliable database, Web of Science Core Collection. The publications cover 932 authors, 142 journals, 53 countries or territories and 489 institutions, which include 313 universities in the entire world. We employ bibliometric methods to describe the evolution of publication activity, the most relevant contributors, the methodologies applied as well as the content of the articles in order to examine the main topics and research trends. Moreover, we explore the mapping of bibliographic coupling, co-word analysis of keywords and clusters analysis, which provides maps of knowledge based on data of bibliographic nature. Our study allows us to identify potential avenues for future research that could be meaningful to advance in the consolidation of CSR as an integral framework to support OHS

Over the last two decades the concept of cloud (in terms of computing) has become a very relevant topic that nowadays, it’s has become an standard IT culture; terms like private cloud, public cloud, hybrid cloud, are adaptations that look to provide services to multiple companies (M. Arbursts, 2010) Based on the above it’s possible to define cloud computing as a paradigm that allows to offer computing services through internet or over an extended network (WAN) (IEEE Computer Society – IEEE International conference on Cloud computing). Now, a cloud is nothing more than a group of multiple hardware devices (of compute, storage and networking) that together can offer an IT service. The main objective of this document is to present a model of multicriteria decision analysis based in AHP (Analytical Hierarchic Process ) for the selection of a hardware infrastructure in virtualized environments as part of a critical process for the consulting companies and the IT service providers in Colombia. Through this document, it will be presented the results obtained applying an empirical method developed by an IT consultancy company in Colombia during the process of buying computer hardware that would be installed and configured for a customer. Based on the analysis made from this empiric method, the problem will be solved using two different approaches; the first one will use the same distribution of the criteria’s and alternatives using AHP, and the second method will be resolved using a different distribution of the criteria with the only purpose of improve the quality of the results and facilitate the selection process.Maestrí

In Mexico, agriculture’s main environmental problems are related to water resources, deforestation and soil erosion. These problems are more acute in arid or semiarid regions such as in the state of Zacatecas. Environmental management systems (EMS) can be an alternate means for improving environmental conditions. In this study, factors that determine willingness to adopt an EMS in the vegetable production units of the state of Zacatecas were identified. We also analysed views on sustainability and production practices oriented toward environmental management and care of natural resources, as well as drivers and barriers to EMS adoption. Factors determining EMS adoption were level of education, awareness of the importance of caring for and protecting natural resources, application of agricultural practices oriented toward protecting the environment, and ignorance of environmental problems

Agriculture in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico, consumes 77% of the available groundwater. In this region, the main source of water is 34 aquifers, of which 44% are over exploited. Over extraction of the aquifers damages the environment, increases pumping costs and decreases water quality. Greenhouse tomato production systems have increased considerably in recent years. Besides the environmental problems that agriculture generates, there is also the problem of emissions and solid waste. The objective of this paper is to assess the environmental impact on profitability of protected agriculture systems in the state of Zacatecas. The methodology used was total cost assessment. This study assesses the total cost of four production units in their present situation, as well as in two scenarios: one denominated sustainable and the other unsustainable. Profitability indicators in the sustainable and unsustainable scenarios show that adopting conservation production practices, besides improving the image of the organization and permitting better access to markets, will maintain profitability and contribute to the conservation of natural resources

As a result of the transition from a federal to a centralist system between 1886 and 1930, the Colombian state underwent a process of administrative transformation, in which the government sought to reduce the fiscal autonomy of the regions. This article describes how the process of fiscal centralization was experienced from a regional perspective, exposing the tax policy and the income and expenditure levels of two of the new territorial entities created. This exercise showed that centralization was not an immediate process, but a phenomenon characterized by particular advances and setbacks in the regions.Entre 1886 y 1930 el Estado colombiano sufrió un proceso de transformación administrativa como producto del paso de un régimen federal a uno centralista, en el que el gobierno buscó reducir la autonomía fiscal de las regiones.
