The entrance-channel mass-asymmetry dependence of the compound nucleus
formation time in light heavy-ion reactions has been investigated within the
framework of semiclassical dissipative collision models. the model calculations
have been succesfully applied to the formation of the Ar compound
nucleus as populated via the Be+Si, B+Al,
C+Mg and F+F entrance channels. The shape evolution
of several other light composite systems appears to be consistent with the
so-called "Fusion Inhibition Factor" which has been experimentally observed. As
found previously in more massive systems for the fusion-evaporation process,
the entrance-channel mass-asymmetry degree of freedom appears to determine the
competition between the different mechanisms as well as the time scales

Stress detection using wearable physiological sensors
As the population increases in the world, the ratio of health carers is rapidly decreasing. Therefore, there is an urgent need to create new technologies to monitor the physical and mental health of people during their daily life. In particular, negative mental states like depression and anxiety are big problems in modern societies, usually due to stressful situations during everyday activities including work. This paper presents a machine learning approach for stress detection on people using wearable physiological sensors with the �final aim of improving their quality of life. The presented technique can monitor the state of the subject continuously and classify it into "stressful" or "non-stressful" situations. Our classification results show that this method is a good starting point towards real-time stress detection

Is anxiety associated with negative interpretations of ambiguity in children and adolescents? A systematic review and meta-analysis
Background
The tendency to interpret ambiguity as threat (‘negative interpretation’) has been implicated in cognitive models of anxiety. A significant body of research has examined the association between anxiety and negative interpretation, and reviews suggest there is a robust positive association in adults. However, evidence with children and adolescents has been inconsistent. This study aimed to provide a systematic quantitative assessment of the association between anxiety and negative interpretation in children and adolescents.
Methods
Following systematic searches and screening for eligibility, 345 effects sizes from 77 studies were meta-analysed.
Results
Overall a medium positive association was found between anxiety and negative interpretation in children and adolescents (d ̂ = 0.62). Two variables significantly moderated this effect. Specifically, the association increased in strength with increasing age and when the content of ambiguous scenarios matched the anxiety subtype under investigation.
Conclusions
Results extend findings from adult literature by demonstrating an association in children and adolescents with evidence for content specificity in the association. Age effects imply a role for development. Results raise considerations for when and for whom clinical treatments for anxiety focusing on interpretation bias are appropriate. The vast majority of studies included in the review have used correlational designs and there are a limited number of studies with you ng children. The results should be considered with these limitations in mind
The Effects of Atmospheric Dispersion on High-Resolution Solar Spectroscopy
We investigate the effects of atmospheric dispersion on observations of the
Sun at the ever-higher spatial resolutions afforded by increased apertures and
improved techniques. The problems induced by atmospheric refraction are
particularly significant for solar physics because the Sun is often best
observed at low elevations, and the effect of the image displacement is not
merely a loss of efficiency, but the mixing of information originating from
different points on the solar surface. We calculate the magnitude of the
atmospheric dispersion for the Sun during the year and examine the problems
produced by this dispersion in both spectrographic and filter observations. We
describe an observing technique for scanning spectrograph observations that
minimizes the effects of the atmospheric dispersion while maintaining a regular
scanning geometry. Such an approach could be useful for the new class of
high-resolution solar spectrographs, such as SPINOR, POLIS, TRIPPEL, and ViSP

Neutron Structure Function and A=3 Mirror Nuclei
We investigate deep inelastic scattering from He-3 and H-3 within a
conventional convolution treatment of binding and Fermi motion effects. Using
realistic Faddeev wave functions together with a nucleon spectral function, we
demonstrate that the free neutron structure function can be extracted in
deep-inelastic scattering from A=3 mirror nuclei, with nuclear effects

Measurement of the cosmic microwave background polarization lensing power spectrum from two years of POLARBEAR data
We present a measurement of the gravitational lensing deflection power spectrum reconstructed with two seasons of cosmic microwave background polarization data from the POLARBEAR experiment. Observations were taken at 150 GHz from 2012 to 2014 and surveyed three patches of sky totaling 30 square degrees. We test the consistency of the lensing spectrum with a cold dark matter cosmology and reject the no-lensing hypothesis at a confidence of 10.9σ, including statistical and systematic uncertainties. We observe a value of AL = 1.33 ± 0.32 (statistical) ±0.02 (systematic) ±0.07 (foreground) using all polarization lensing estimators, which corresponds to a 24% accurate measurement of the lensing amplitude. Compared to the analysis of the first- year data, we have improved the breadth of both the suite of null tests and the error terms included in the estimation of systematic contamination
Auditory network connectivity in tinnitus patients: a resting-state fMRI study
Objective: Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) uncovers correlated activity between spatially distinct functionally related brain regions and offers clues about the integrity of functional brain circuits in people with chronic subjective tinnitus. We chose to investigate auditory network connectivity, adopting and extending previously used analyses methods to provide an independent evaluation of replicability. Design: Independent components analysis (ICA) was used to identify coherent patterns arising from spontaneous brain signals within the resting-state data. The auditory network component was extracted and evaluated. Bivariate and partial correlation analyses were performed on pre-defined regions of bilateral auditory cortex to assess functional connectivity. Study sample: Our design carefully matched participant groups for possible confounds, such as hearing status. Twelve patients (seven male, five female; mean age 66 years) all with chronic constant tinnitus and eleven controls (eight male, three female; mean age 68 years) took part. Results: No significant differences were found in auditory network connectivity between groups after correcting for multiple statistical comparisons in the analysis. This contradicts previous findings reporting reduced auditory network connectivity; albeit at a less stringent statistical threshold. Conclusions: Auditory network connectivity does not appear to be reliably altered by the experience of chronic subjective tinnitus
