Training and its Impact on the Performance of Employees at Jordanian Universities from the Perspective of Employees: The Case of Yarmouk University
The objective of this paper is to examine the attitudes of administrative leaders and administrative employees concerning the training courses provided, as well as the impact of training on employee job performance at Yarmouk University in Jordan. The study is carried at a Malaysian small and medium enterprise (SME). Findings indicated that training courses are related to the training needs of the employees to a medium degree, and that there are several conditions which determine selecting eligible employees for training. Results indicated also that there is relationship between effective training and employees’ job performance. Based on the results of the study, several recommendations were provided. The reality of polarizing professional human resources in the Jordanian higher education institutions
The study aimed to identify the reality of polarizing professional human resources from the point of view of academics in Jordanian higher education institutions (JHEI), following the variables: gender, educational qualification, academic qualifications, years of service, and type of institution. The study followed a descriptive-analytical approach. The study sample comprised 674 faculty members working in various institutions of the JHEI. The researcher used a questionnaire comprising 24 items as a study instrument. The study’s findings revealed that the JHEI for polarizing professional human resources were ordinary. and that academic institution administrations encourage personnel to submit distinguished ideas. Also, they seek to adopt a philosophy of change as needed, while the administrations do not care about measuring the job satisfaction of employees. Periodically, it was found that JHEI encourage feedback from students to improve the quality of services and adopt modern technological means to provide their services
Los problemas académicos a los que se enfrentan los estudiantes universitarios desde sus puntos de vista bajo la pandemia
The study aimed to identify the academic problems facing university students during the Corona pandemic from their viewpoints and its relationship to some variables, as the study sample comprised (4000) male and female students from Jordanian universities. The study concluded that the students’ academic problems during the Corona pandemic were average in all fields of study. The study showed the absence of statistically significant differences in the students’ academic problems attributed to gender (male, female), specialization (scientific, humanitarian) and academic level (diploma, bachelor) variables.El estudio tuvo como objetivo identificar los problemas académicos que se enfrentan los estudiantes universitarios durante la pandemia desde sus puntos de vista y su relación con algunas variables, ya que la muestra del estudio comprendía (4000) estudiantes masculinos y femeninos de universidades jordanas. El estudio concluyó que los problemas académicos de los estudiantes durante la pandemia fueron promedio en todos los campos de estudio. El estudio mostró la ausencia de diferencias estadísticamente significativas en los problemas académicos de los estudiantes atribuidos a las variables género (masculino, femenino), especialización (científica, humanitaria) y nivel académico (diploma, licenciatura).Universidad Pablo de Olavid
The mediating role of employee job performance in the impact of open book management dimensions on customer satisfaction
This study aimed at investigating the impact of open book management (OBM) on customer satisfaction in the presence of employee job performance as a mediating variable. OBM was measured using employee empowerment, information sharing, employee training, and employee participation in organizational success. A sample consisted of 500 managers and employees from 10 industrial companies in Qassim region were participated in the study. Data were gathered using a questionnaire administered to participants. The final number of questionnaires received was 387 questionnaires with a response rate of 77.4 percent. The results showed positive as well as significant effects of employee training, empowerment and participation on employee job satisfaction and customer satisfaction. The results further pointed out that employee job performance mediated the effect of open book management dimensions on customer satisfaction. The originality of this study wells up from its contribution to literature as it underlined that employee training in the context of open book management should take the first priority, followed by employee empowerment as empowerment efforts do not bear its desired fruits in the absence of an employee who is able to properly implement what he or she empowered to do. It was recommended on the ground of these results to consider employee training, then employee empowerment in the context of OBM. An adoption of OBM is required to keep tabs on employee job performance in order to ensure an effective practice of OBM
Восприятие студентами вузов роли образовательных цифровых стимулов в побуждении к академической вовлеченности в профессиональном образовании
Introduction. Digital stimuli are one of the strategies prepared by higher education institutions in university teaching in the field of vocational education, but they do not attach importance to them from other strategies that are used. The investigation of the role of educational digital stimuli in achieving the academic passion of vocational education students in Jordanian universities in light of COVID-19 is important to try to know the effect of digital stimuli on the academic passion of vocational education students. Methodology and research methods. The descriptive survey method was used to analyse the data. To achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire consisting of (29) items was designed, divided into three areas: dynamics (11 items), mechanics (7 items), and components (11 items) to collect data. The study sample consisted of 260 male and female students in Jordanian universities. Results and scientific novelty. The results showed that the role of educational digital stimuli in achieving academic passion was ‘high’ with no statistically significant differences due to the gender variable, with statistically significant differences due to the variables of the academic year and university type. Practical significance. The study recommends designing educational environments that are attractive, interactive, and related to the students’ reality, using strategies for deep information processing, problem-solving method, creativity and critical thinking in order to achieve students’ involvement in learning.Введение. Цифровые стимулы являются одной из стратегий, подготовленных высшими учебными заведениями в университетском обучении в сфере профессионального образования, но университеты не выделяют их из других стратегий, которые используются. Исследование роли и влияния образовательных цифровых стимулов в достижении академической вовлеченности у студентов профессионального образования в иорданских университетах в свете COVID-19 важно. Методология и методы исследования. Для анализа данных использовался описательный метод опроса. Для достижения целей исследования была разработана анкета для сбора данных, состоящая из 29 пунктов, разделенных на три области: динамика (11 пунктов), механика (7 пунктов) и компоненты (11 пунктов). Выборка исследования состояла из 260 студентов мужского и женского пола в иорданских университетах. Результаты. Результаты показали, что роль образовательных цифровых стимулов в достижении академической вовлеченности была высокой без статистически значимых различий из-за гендерной переменной, со статистически значимыми различиями из-за переменных «учебный год» и «тип университета». Практическая значимость. Даны рекомендации создавать привлекательную, интерактивную и связанную с реальностью учащихся образовательную среду, используя стратегии глубокой обработки информации, метод решения проблем, креативность и критическое мышление, чтобы добиться вовлечения учащихся в процесс обучения
Values System Relationship to Leadership Behavior of Practicing and Non-sports-practicing University Students
The study examined the values system and its relationship to leadership behavior of sports-practicing and non-sports-practicing students in Al-Balqa Applied University, Jordan. The study used two tools to collect data, namely, values system and leadership behavior questionnaires. The study sample consisted of (217) students, (64) of whom are sports-practicing, and (153) are non-sports-practicing. The results showed that the degree of students’ possession of the values system as a whole was high, in descending order, moral and democratic values, achievement and competition values, national values, physical skills values, social values, aesthetic values and finally financial gain values. Besides, it showed that students’ leadership behavior degree was high, and there was a statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) between the means of the sports-practicing, and nonsports-practicing students’ estimates on values system items. Also, there was a statistically significant difference in their estimates on the leadership behavior scale in favor of sports-practicing students. The study recommends universities to develop sports activities and intensify training courses that teach students leadership behavior and link knowledge and skills to the values system in their events, programs, curriculum and field activities
Уровень амбиций и профессиональные тенденции студентов вуза, связанные с общей культурой
Introduction. Jordanian education system encourages students to invest their potentials to fulfill their needs, make their ambitions come true and achieve success in their lives. However, many students still face problems in determining their ambitions and vocational tendencies to attain their goals. Aim. This study aims to identify the degree of ambition level and its relation to the vocational tendencies among university students with respect to the common culture. It focused on two main domains, namely the ambition level and its relation with vocational tendencies. Methodology and research methods. A quantitative method was adopted to analyse the data. The study sample consisted of 500 male and female students studying at Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU) chosen randomly. The authors developed a study instrument which was divided into ambition level 10 items. Strong – Campbell Interest Inventory Scale was applied to examine the tendencies of vocational development. This scale consisted of 42 items divided into six domains. Results. The results showed there was a statistically significant positive relation between the ambition level and vocational tendency among BAU students. There were statistically significant differences at (.05 = a) in the ambition level attributed to the effect of the gender factor in favour of females. Also, there were statistically significant differences in the vocational tendencies attributed to the gender effect in all domains except the vocation selection domain. These differences were in favour of males in relation to the study materials domain, but in favour of females in relation to all the other domains as a whole. The vocational tendencies variable was considered a significant variable that increased the achievement of students’ ambitions. Scientific novelty. The study concluded that developing social changes require a high level of ambitions to cope with the continuous developments in different domains particularly the academic domain. Educators can develop students’ ambition level and identify vocational tendencies to excel in their own goals toward innovation and creativity in light of the common culture. Practical significance. The study draws interesting conclusions based on the analysis and discusses practical recommendations for key stakeholders. The Ministry of Education in Jordan should pay more attention to the vocational tendencies among students from earlier stages to direct these tendencies in appropriate ways that provide students with a good academic life leading to decent social, vocational and practical life that gets along with the common Jordanian culture. Besides, universities are recommended to focus on ways of developing the ambition level among students by raising parents’ awareness to set a good example to their children, bring them up from an early age to be ambitious and promote their ambition level.Введение. Исследование сфокусировано на двух основных доменах, а именно на уровне амбиций и его связи с профессиональными тенденциями. Методология и методы исследования. Для анализа данных был использован количественный метод. Выборка исследования включала 500 студентов мужского и женского пола, обучающихся в Прикладном университете Аль-Балка, выбранных случайным образом. Авторы разработали инструмент исследования, который был разделен на 10 пунктов – уровней амбиций. Инвентарь интересов Стронга – Кэмпбелла был использован для анализа тенденций профессионального развития. Эта шкала состояла из 42 пунктов, разделенных на шесть доменов. Результаты. Результаты показали наличие статистически значимой положительной связи между уровнем амбиций и профессиональной тенденцией среди студентов Прикладного университета Аль-Балка. Имелись статистически значимые различия при а = 0,05 в уровне амбиций, связанные с влиянием гендерного фактора в пользу женщин. Кроме того, были статистически значимые различия в профессиональных тенденциях, связанных с гендерным аспектом, во всех областях, кроме области выбора профессии. Эти различия были в пользу мужчин по отношению к домену «учебные материалы», но в пользу женщин по всем остальным доменам в целом. Переменная профессиональных тенденций считалась значимой переменной, повышающей достижение студенческих амбиций. Научная новизна. Авторы пришли к выводу, что развитие социальных изменений требует высокого уровня амбиций, чтобы справиться с непрерывным развитием в различных областях, особенно в академической сфере. Педагоги могут повысить уровень амбиций и определить профессиональные тенденции учащихся, чтобы преуспеть в достижении собственных целей в области инноваций и творчества в свете общей культуры. Практическая значимость. В исследовании делаются интересные выводы на основе анализа и обсуждаются практические рекомендации для ключевых заинтересованных сторон. Министерству образования Иордании рекомендуется уделять больше внимания профессиональным тенденциям среди учащихся более ранних ступеней, чтобы направлять эти тенденции надлежащим образом для обеспечения учащимся академической жизни на высоком уровне, ведущей к достойной социальной, профессиональной и практической жизни, которая сочетается с обычной культурой Иордании.
