    Reversible Photoreduction as a Trigger for Photoresponsive Gels

    We present here a new type of photoresponsive, reversible low molecular weight gel. All previous examples rely on a photoisomerisation, ring-closing or dimerization. We show that photoreduction of a perylene bisimide gelator results in the formation of a stable radical anion. The formation of the radical anion results in a change in the packing of the perylene bisimides in the self-assembled aggregates, leading to a change in fibrous network and an increase in the rheological properties of the gels. An increase in the rheological properties is extremely rare for a photoresponsive gel; normally, irradiation results in a gel-to-sol transition, and the gel falling apart. As the radical anion decays, which takes several hours in air, the original gel properties are restored. This photoreduction can be cycled many times. Finally, we show that the mechanical properties are different between irradiated and nonirradiated sections in a patterned gel

    Implications of a J^PC exotic

    Recent experimental data from BNL on the isovector J^PC =1^-+ exotic at 1.6 GeV in \rho\pi indicate the existence of a non-quarkonium state consistent with lattice gauge theory predictions. We discuss how further experiments can strengthen this conclusion. We show that the \rho\pi, \eta'\pi and \eta\pi couplings of this state qualitatively support the hypothesis that it is a hybrid meson, although other interpretations cannot be eliminated.Comment: 10 pages, LaTeX, minor numerical correction

    This study aim to analysis relationship of self-control and anxiety of interpersonal communicationin a tourist guide. Product moment corelation analysis (rxy) yields for 0905, to provethe relationship between self-control and interpersonal communication anxiety in a tourist guide.These results indicate a negative relationship between the variables X (Self Control) and variableY (Interpersonal Communication Anxiety in the guides). Social Learning Theory became atheories used in this study, where most of the individual behavior acquired partly the result oflearning through observation of behavior displayed other individuals whose became the model.Elaboration Likelihood Theory which states that each individual will interpret the message orinformation they receive, in accordance with the information they have and their beliefs aboutsomething related to the message. Self-control on the tour guides in Yogyakarta based on thefive major aspects of self-control, that has a very high level of measurement. Includes the abilityto anticipate events, the ability to interpret events and the ability to take decisions. Meanwhile,two other aspects of self control shows the results of measurements at very low category, whichconsists of aspects of behavior and stimulus control. While anxiety based on the three aspects ofinterpersonal communication, which consists of inhibition of the ability to express themselves,lack of interest in communicating and social interaction is interrupted, it indicates the levelmeasurement at very low category. Thus, interpersonal communication anxiety on tour guidesin Yogyakarta can be said to be very low

    Ultrathin two-dimensional superconductivity with strong spin-orbit coupling

    We report on a study of epitaxially grown ultrathin Pb films that are only a few atoms thick and have parallel critical magnetic fields much higher than the expected limit set by the interaction of electron spins with a magnetic field, that is, the Clogston-Chandrasekhar limit. The epitaxial thin films are classified as dirty-limit superconductors because their mean-free paths, which are limited by surface scattering, are smaller than their superconducting coherence lengths. The uniformity of superconductivity in these thin films is established by comparing scanning tunneling spectroscopy, scanning superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometry, double-coil mutual inductance, and magneto-transport, data that provide average superfluid rigidity on length scales covering the range from microscopic to macroscopic. We argue that the survival of superconductivity at Zeeman energies much larger than the superconducting gap can be understood only as the consequence of strong spin-orbit coupling that, together with substrate-induced inversionsymmetry breaking, produces spin splitting in the normal-state energy bands that is much larger than the superconductor\u27s energy gap

    MagAO Imaging of Long-period Objects (MILO). I. A Benchmark M Dwarf Companion Exciting a Massive Planet around the Sun-like Star HD 7449

    We present high-contrast Magellan adaptive optics (MagAO) images of HD 7449, a Sun-like star with one planet and a long-term radial velocity (RV) trend. We unambiguously detect the source of the long-term trend from 0.6-2.15 \microns ~at a separation of \about 0\fasec 54. We use the object's colors and spectral energy distribution to show that it is most likely an M4-M5 dwarf (mass \about 0.1-0.2 \msun) at the same distance as the primary and is therefore likely bound. We also present new RVs measured with the Magellan/MIKE and PFS spectrometers and compile these with archival data from CORALIE and HARPS. We use a new Markov chain Monte Carlo procedure to constrain both the mass (>0.17> 0.17 \msun ~at 99%\% confidence) and semimajor axis (\about 18 AU) of the M dwarf companion (HD 7449B). We also refine the parameters of the known massive planet (HD 7449Ab), finding that its minimum mass is 1.090.19+0.521.09^{+0.52}_{-0.19} \mj, its semimajor axis is 2.330.02+0.012.33^{+0.01}_{-0.02} AU, and its eccentricity is 0.80.06+0.080.8^{+0.08}_{-0.06}. We use N-body simulations to constrain the eccentricity of HD 7449B to \lesssim 0.5. The M dwarf may be inducing Kozai oscillations on the planet, explaining its high eccentricity. If this is the case and its orbit was initially circular, the mass of the planet would need to be \lesssim 1.5 \mj. This demonstrates that strong constraints on known planets can be made using direct observations of otherwise undetectable long-period companions.Comment: Corrected planet mass error (7.8 Mj --> 1.09 Mj, in agreement with previous studies

    Penyakit asam urat menyerang masyarakat yang mempunyai kadar asam urat tinggi, masyarakat yang terkena asam urat biasanya mengeluh badan capek, linu-linu dan nyeri sendi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui gambaran tingkat pengetahuan warga tentang penyakit asam urat pada warga RT 04 RW 04 Desa Kranji Kecamatan Paciran Kabupaten Lamongan. Desain penelitian ini diskriptif. Populasinya semua warga yang mengeluh badan capek, linu-linu dan nyeri sendi sebesar 25 orang. Cara pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan tehnik total sampling. Dengan jumlah sampel 25 responden. Variabelnya adalah tingkat pengetahuan warga tentang penyakit asam urat di RT 04 RW 04 Desa Kranji Kecamatan Paciran Kabupaten Lamongan. Pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan instrumen kuesioner dianalisis data dengan distribusi frekuensi. Hasil penelitian didapatkan dari 25 responden sebagian besar (56%) responden memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang kurang, (24%) responden memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang cukup dan (20%) memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang baik. Disimpulkan bahwa warga di RT 04 sebagian besar memiliki tingkat pengetahuan tentang penyakit asam urat yang kurang. Sehingga bagi warga yang sudah mempunyai keluhan badan capek, linu-linu dan nyeri sendi diharapkan untuk menghindari semua makanan yang mengandung kadar purin tinggi

    The Predictive Coding Account of Psychosis

    Fueled by developments in computational neuroscience, there has been increasing interest in the underlying neurocomputational mechanisms of psychosis. One successful approach involves predictive coding and Bayesian inference. Here, inferences regarding the current state of the world are made by combining prior beliefs with incoming sensory signals. Mismatches between prior beliefs and incoming signals constitute prediction errors that drive new learning. Psychosis has been suggested to result from a decreased precision in the encoding of prior beliefs relative to the sensory data, thereby garnering maladaptive inferences. Here, we review the current evidence for aberrant predictive coding and discuss challenges for this canonical predictive coding account of psychosis. For example, hallucinations and delusions may relate to distinct alterations in predictive coding, despite their common co-occurrence. More broadly, some studies implicate weakened prior beliefs in psychosis, and others find stronger priors. These challenges might be answered with a more nuanced view of predictive coding. Different priors may be specified for different sensory modalities and their integration, and deficits in each modality need not be uniform. Furthermore, hierarchical organization may be critical. Altered processes at lower levels of a hierarchy need not be linearly related to processes at higher levels (and vice versa). Finally, canonical theories do not highlight active inference-the process through which the effects of our actions on our sensations are anticipated and minimized. It is possible that conflicting findings might be reconciled by considering these complexities, portending a framework for psychosis more equipped to deal with its many manifestations
