Currently, the issue of human resources is producing an impact in Spain and just need to approach the business biography to verify that the sector study of physical activity and sport is a field of scientific and social interest that needs to be investigated. Using a quantitative methodology, in which a descriptive method and a cross sectional survey was carried out and through a standardized interview as a tool for gathering information, results reveal the most significant characteristics found in Valencia Region. The results explain that the people working in physical and sports functions in companies are mostly young men who develop a wide variety of functions, work situations in which there is recruitment and showing a temporary high. The study also reveals that more than half the people will do business with a working week not exceeding four years, and there are people without official certification of physical activity and sport and being the most important personal contacts to find work.peerReviewe

The Use of Languages by Valencian Business-to-Consumer Service Companies in their Telematic Communications

    Get PDF
This study analyses the languages used by companies in their telematic means (website, social media, etc.) in a specific geographical area, the Valencian Community (Spain), where two official languages (Catalan and Spanish) coexist and where there is a large influx of foreign tourists (mainly British). More specifically, the aim of the study is to understand the weight each language has in companies’ telematic communication. The theoretical approach used for the analysis is the centre-periphery model, which is used to analyse national identity and language. Different techniques (use of secondary sources, mystery shopping, content analysis and direct observation) have been used in the quantitative empirical study to obtain a statistically disaggregated data matrix. The results strongly emphasize the peripheral and marginal position of Catalan in this region, and, on an international scale, the resistance of Spanish, which clearly maintains its hegemonic position over English in the telematic communications of these companies

[EN] Research on current practices and the state of green public procurement enables the identification of areas that can be improved, as well as opportunities to improve the tendering procedures from an environmental point of view. To understand the behaviour of local, provincial, and regional administrations concerning green public procurement, a case study on the Valencia region of Spain is made. The Valencian region is one of the most important communities in terms of population, number of contracting authorities, and weight in the Spanish Gross Domestic Product. In this study, a total of 967 procedures were analysed from calls for tenders made by municipal, provincial, and regional administrations in2016 and 2017.The results of this study show that the use of environmental criteria is 19.7% and the average weight is 4.1 out of 100. The civil engineering subsector, more than the building subsector, employs environmental criteria, particularly in projects tendered by regional administrations, whereas for projects with large budgets the level of use is similar for both subsectors. It is necessary to encourage plans to improve Green Public Procurement (GPP) practices in the Valencian administrations, especially those with a local scope such as municipalities. This research was funded by the Conselleria de Educacion, Investigacion, Cultura y Deporte of the Generalitat Valenciana through the project Analysis of the Green Public Procurement (CPV) of Works in the Valencian Community and Development of Indicators for their evaluation, grant number [GV/2017/027] of the R + D + i Projects for Emerging Research Groups 2017.Fuentes Bargues, JL.; Ferrer-Gisbert, P.; González-Cruz, M.; Bastante-Ceca, M. El estudio revela que los canales internacionales españoles generan importantes lazos entre los ciudadanos que viven en el extranjero y sus realidades nacionales. The study reveals that Spanish international channels are important links with their local reality for citizens that live abroad . In addition, international television companies make important efforts to be in as many cable and satellite platforms all around the world as they can, while working on improving the quality of their internet broadcasts. However, this effort is not the matched in the area of content: most of the content is a re-broadcast of programs from other channels of the communication group, often from the archives, and we also point out that there are hardly any slots specifically dedicated to communities living abroa

Considering the process of innovati on development, this paper aimed to examine the eff ect of diff erent dimensions of proximity and the level of coordinati on that exists in a texti le cluster. This study employed a qualitati ve method, based on indepth interviews that were conducted with two leading fi rms in a texti le cluster in Valencia, Spain, which is subject to intense competi ti on from producers in Asia. Firms were selected according to the criteria of innovati on development and opportunity. This is a pilot study that precedes a more ambiti ous one. The results suggested that fi rms' innovati ons are developed in an isolated, disconti nuous, marginal, and uncoordinated way, and clustering has a marginal eff ect. Furthermore, despite high geographical and cogniti ve proximity, low social proximity is maintained by the low level of trust between the fi rms. These fi ndings may be of signifi cant practi cal value for practi ti oners and insti tuti ons. Firms can gain a bett er understanding of the importance of being located in a cluster, as this is a key factor for their survival under intense competi ti on. However, geographical proximity is not suffi cient, and fi rms need to cooperate with each other and share their ideas and experiences. In additi on, insti tuti ons should interact more with companies, speak their language, meet their needs, and devise strong cluster initi ati ves. This study provides a more comprehensive understanding of how insti tuti ons and fi rms interact within a cluster in the process of innovati on development and elaborate upon diff erent dimensions of proximity among fi rm
