A review of convex approaches for control, observation and safety of linear parameter varying and Takagi-Sugeno systems
This paper provides a review about the concept of convex systems based on Takagi-Sugeno, linear parameter varying (LPV) and quasi-LPV modeling. These paradigms are capable of hiding the nonlinearities by means of an equivalent description which uses a set of linear models interpolated by appropriately defined weighing functions. Convex systems have become very popular since they allow applying extended linear techniques based on linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) to complex nonlinear systems. This survey aims at providing the reader with a significant overview of the existing LMI-based techniques for convex systems in the fields of control, observation and safety. Firstly, a detailed review of stability, feedback, tracking and model predictive control (MPC) convex controllers is considered. Secondly, the problem of state estimation is addressed through the design of proportional, proportional-integral, unknown input and descriptor observers. Fuzzy control turns 50: 10 years later
In 2015, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Fuzzy Sets, ten years after the main milestones regarding its applications in fuzzy control in their 40th birthday were reviewed in FSS, see [1]. Ten years is at the same time a long period and short time thinking to the inner dynamics of research. This paper, presented for these 50 years of Fuzzy Sets is taking into account both thoughts. A first part presents a quick recap of the history of fuzzy control: from model-free design, based on human reasoning to quasi-LPV (Linear Parameter Varying) model-based control design via some milestones, and key applications. The second part shows where we arrived and what the improvements are since the milestone of the first 40 years. Integrated fault estimation and accommodation design for discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems with actuator faults
This paper addresses the problem of integrated robust
fault estimation (FE) and accommodation for discrete-time
Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy systems. First, a multiconstrained
reduced-order FE observer (RFEO) is proposed to achieve FE for
discrete-time T–S fuzzy models with actuator faults. Based on the
RFEO, a new fault estimator is constructed. Then, using the information
of online FE, a new approach for fault accommodation
based on fuzzy-dynamic output feedback is designed to compensate
for the effect of faults by stabilizing the closed-loop systems. Moreover,
the RFEO and the dynamic output feedback fault-tolerant
controller are designed separately, such that their design parameters
can be calculated readily. Simulation results are presented to
illustrate our contributions
Hierarchical Optimization-Based Model Predictive Control for a Class of Discrete Fuzzy Large-Scale Systems Considering Time-Varying Delays and Disturbances
Altres ajuts: Acord transformatiu CRUE-CSICIn this manuscript, model predictive control for class of discrete fuzzy large-scale systems subjected to bounded time-varying delay and disturbances is studied. The considered method is Razumikhin for time-varying delay large-scale systems, in which it includes a Lyapunov function associated with the original non-augmented state space of system dynamics in comparison with the Krasovskii method. As a rule, the Razumikhin method has a perfect potential to avoid the inherent complexity of the Krasovskii method especially in the presence of large delays and disturbances. The considered large-scale system in this manuscript is decomposed into several subsystems, each of which is represented by a fuzzy Takagi-Sugeno (TS) model and the interconnection between any two subsystems is considered. Because the main section of the model predictive control is optimization, the hierarchical scheme is performed for the optimization problem. Furthermore, persistent disturbances are considered that robust positive invariance and input-to-state stability under such circumstances are studied. The linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) method is performed for our computations. So the closed-loop large-scale system is asymptotically stable. Ultimately, by two examples, the effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated, and a comparison with other papers is made by remarks
Asymptotically exact stabilisation for constrained discrete Takagi-Sugeno systems via set-invariance
[EN] Given a Takagi-Sugeno (TS) system, this paper proposes a novel methodology to obtain the state feedback controller guaranteeing, asymptotically as a Polya-related complexity parameter grows, the largest (membership-shape independent) possible domain-of-attraction with contraction-rate performance lambda, based on polyhedral lambda-contractive sets from constrained linear systems literature. The resulting controller is valid for any realisation of the memberships, as usual in most TS literature. For a finite complexity parameter, an inner estimate of such largest set is obtained; the frontier of such approximation can be understood as the level set of a polyhedral control-Lyapunov function. Convergence of a proposed iterative algorithm is asymptotically necessary and sufficient for TS system stabilisation: for a high-enough value of the complexity parameter, any conceivable shape-independent Lyapunov controller design procedure will yield a proven domain of attraction smaller or equal to the algorithm's output. LMI-Based Fuzzy Optimal Variance Control of Airfoil Model Subject to Input Constraints
This paper presents a study of fuzzy optimal variance control problem for dynamical systems subject to actuator amplitude and rate constraints. Using Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy modeling and dynamic Parallel Distributed Compensation technique, the stability and the constraints can be cast as a multi-objective optimization problem in the form of Linear Matrix Inequalities. By utilizing the formulations and solutions for the input and output variance constraint problems, we develop a fuzzy full-state feedback controller. The stability and performance of the proposed controller is demonstrated through its application to the airfoil flutter suppression
Actuator and sensor fault estimation based on a proportional-integral quasi-LPV observer with inexact scheduling parameters

ElsevierThis paper presents a method for actuator and sensor fault estimation based on a proportional-integral observer (PIO) for a class of nonlinear system described by a polytopic quasi-linear parameter varying (qLPV) mathematical model. Contrarily to the traditional approach, which considers measurable or unmeasurable scheduling parameters, this work proposes a methodology that considers inexact scheduling parameters. This condition is present in many physical systems where the scheduling parameters can be affected by noise, offsets, calibration errors, and other factors that have a negative impact on the measurements. A H8 performance criterion is considered in the design in order to guarantee robustness against sensor noise, disturbance, and inexact scheduling parameters. Then, a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) is derived by the use of a quadratic Lyapunov function. The solution of the LMI guarantees asymptotic stability of the PIO. Finally, the performance and applicability of the proposed method are illustrated through a numerical experiment in a nonlinear system.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft
Designing the Model Predictive Control for Interval Type-2 Fuzzy T-S Systems Involving Unknown Time-Varying Delay in Both States and Input Vector
In this paper, the model predictive control is designed for an interval
type-2 Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) system with unknown time-varying delay in state and
input vectors. The time-varying delay is a weird phenomenon that is appeared in
almost all systems. It can make many problems and instability while the system
is working. In this paper, the time-varying delay is considered in both states
and input vectors and is the sensible difference between the proposed method
here and previous algorithms, besides, it is unknown but bounded. To solve the
problem, the Razumikhin approach is applied to the proposed method since it
includes a Lyapunov function with the original nonaugmented state space of
system models compared to Krasovskii formula. On the other hand, the Razumikhin
method act better and avoids the inherent complexity of the Krasovskii
specifically when large delays and disturbances are appeared. To stabilize
output results, the model predictive control (MPC) is designed for the system
and the considered system in this paper is interval type-2 (IT2) fuzzy T-S that
has better estimation of the dynamic model of the system. Here, online
optimization problems are solved by the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) which
reduce the burdens of the computation and online computational costs compared
to the offline and non-LMI approach. At the end, an example is illustrated for
the proposed approach
Static output feedback control for lane change maneuver
International audienceThis paper addresses the lateral control of a vehicle during lane change maneuvers. The proposed design procedure aims to answer the questions of control using cost-effective sensors implementation, adaptation to measured variables and robustness to unmeasured varying parameters. This is achieved through a static output feedback controller with preview information. The only used measurements are the lateral displacement at sensor location and the yaw angle relative to the lane centerline. The vehicle lateral model is augmented with an integral action, the error signal and the preview reference signal. The controller is synthesized using the LMI framework thanks to a relaxation method that removes the nonlinear terms. Simulations are conducted for various scenarios showing the ability of the design method to handle different performance objectives
