Frequency-dependent reflection of spin waves from a magnetic inhomogeneity induced by a surface DC-current

The reflectivity of a highly localized magnetic inhomogeneity is experimentally studied. The inhomogeneity is created by a dc-current carrying wire placed on the surface of a ferrite film. The reflection of propagating dipole-dominated spin-wave pulses is found to be strongly dependent on the spin-wave frequency if the current locally increases the magnetic field. In the opposite case the frequency dependence is negligible.Comment: 3 pages, 3 figure

The influence of the stator winding temperature oscillation on the insulation-aging rate of the asynchronous motors stator winding in random mode loading. It is shown that under certain parameters of the random mode insulation durability can significantly decrease, wherein the widely used average loss method gives the evaluation of the motor thermal state with a substantial error.дна строка 10 pt

    Storage-recovery phenomenon in magnonic crystal

The phenomenon of wave trapping in an artificial crystal with limited number of periods is demonstrated experimentally using spin waves in a magnonic crystal. The information stored in the crystal is recovered afterwards by parametric amplification of the trapped wave. The storage process is based on the excitation of standing internal crystal modes and differs principally from the well-known phenomenon of deceleration of light in photonic crystals.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure

SCREENING OF RICE ACCESSIONS FOR GREENBUG RESISTANCE

    Get PDF
During recent years the harmfulness of greenbug for rice crops has significantly increased. Laboratory experiments were conducted to study insect resistance of 200 accessions from the collection of the Donskoy Agrarian Scientific Center. The overwhelming majority of the studied forms were heterogeneous in their resistance. Twelve forms (5.5%) with the resistance score 2.2-3.0 were identified. The accessions NSH-1 (Hungary), ‘Musa Karem’ (Iran) and Zlatyi х Strelets (Russia) do not contain susceptible components and can be recommended as sources of aphid resistance for breeding rice varieties

Resonant scattering of spin waves from a region of inhomogeneous magnetic field in a ferromagnetic film

The transmission of a dipole-dominated spin wave in a ferromagnetic film through a localised inhomogeneity in the form of a magnetic field produced by a dc current through a wire placed on the film surface was studied experimentally and theoretically. It was shown that the amplitude and phase of the transmitted wave can be simultaneously affected by the current induced field, a feature that will be relevant for logic based on spin wave transport. The direction of the current creates either a barrier or well for spin wave transmission. The main observation is that the current dependence of the amplitude of the spin wave transmitted through the well inhomogeneity is non-monotonic. The dependence has a minimum and an additional maximum. A theory was constructed to clarify the nature of the maximum. It shows that the transmission of spin waves through the inhomogeneity can be considered as a scattering process and that the additional maximum is a scattering resonance

Cherenkov radiation control via self-accelerating wave-packets

Cherenkov radiation is a ubiquitous phenomenon in nature. It describes electromagnetic radiation from a charged particle moving in a medium with a uniform velocity larger than the phase velocity of light in the same medium. Such a picture is typically adopted in the investigation of traditional Cherenkov radiation as well as its counterparts in different branches of physics, including nonlinear optics, spintronics and plasmonics. In these cases, the radiation emitted spreads along a “cone”, making it impractical for most applications. Here, we employ a self-accelerating optical pump wave-packet to demonstrate controlled shaping of one type of generalized Cherenkov radiation - dispersive waves in optical fibers. We show that, by tuning the parameters of the wave-packet, the emitted waves can be judiciously compressed and focused at desired locations, paving the way to such control in any physical system

Blast resistance genes of rice and their markers (review)

    Get PDF
Blast resistance genes of rice and their markers (review) Rice blast is a very harmful and dangerous disease, caused by the fungus pathogen Pyricularia oryzae Cavara риса (Oryza sativa L.). The use of the varieties resistant to the disease is one of the efficient ways to protect plants from diseases. The recent progress in rice genomics allowed using DNA-markers to grow resistant varieties through marker breeding (MAS). The article summarizes the information about blast resistance genes of rice and their markers, which can be used in breeding. The article gives the data about registered genes and their number, chromosome loci, regularities of stability, samples-donors and molecule characteristics of cloned genes. Besides, several questions about a nomenclature system and identification of resistance genes have been considered in the paper. The information can help rice breeders improve rice blast resistance through marker breeding. ARRIGC together with ARRI of rice and SFU have started breeding rice varieties resistant to blast through marker breeding since 2003. Their long-term work in the introgression of resistance genes by PCR-analysis resulted in the development of the rice variety ‘Magnat’ with the genes Pi-1 and Pi-2, and in 2015 there were obtained pyramid rice lines with five rice blast resistance genes Pi-l, Pi-2, Pi-33, Pi-ta and Pi-b
