    Evaluation of teacher professional development program: A review of pre-service English teacher professionalism

    The growing need for proficient educators has driven the government to establish extensive Pre-service Teacher Professional Development Programs. This research examined the implementation of the English Language Pre-service Teacher Professional Development Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. Employing a field research approach, this qualitative study utilized the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, and Product) model to analyze the program's effectiveness. The study yielded descriptive data, shedding light on the program's impact on participants' professionalism. The findings revealed a significant enhancement in the participants' professional competencies. This improvement is evident in their expanded knowledge of pedagogical content, as well as their heightened skills in preparing all facets related to the English language teaching (ELT) process. This encompasses the creation of ELT materials, instructional media, the utilization of diverse teaching, and school administrative management. The significance of this research lies in its contribution to the ongoing discourse on teacher professional development in the context of English language education. The study's insights could inform educational policymakers, curriculum designers, and teacher training institutions about the strengths and areas of improvement within the program. This research aimed to enrich the quality of English language education and foster the growth of proficient and dedicated educators

    Target dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui  (1) kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa sebelum diberikan perlakuan, (2) kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa setelah diberikan penerapan model pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Students Teams  Achievement Division (STAD)  pada siklus ke-1, (3) kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa setelah diberikan perlakuan model pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe STAD pada siklus ke-2 (4) peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa dari sebelum perlakuan, saat setelah siklus ke-1 dan setelah siklus ke-2 pada materi sistem Air Conditioning (AC) kelas XII-TKRO 1 di SMK Negeri 1 Kediri. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah tindakan kelas (PTK). Hasil dan pembahasan pada penelitian ini mengarahkan pada suatu kesimpulan bahwa (1) kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran pemeliharaan kelistrikan kendaraan ringan sebelum perlakuan masih tergolong rendah; (2) kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa setelah diberikan tindakan pada siklus ke-1 mengalami peningkatan dari kemampuan awal, namun belum memenuhi syarat; (3) kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa setelah diberikan tindakan pada siklus ke-2 mengalami peningkatan dari siklus sebelumnya; (4) dari sebelum perlakuan, setelah siklus ke-1 sampai siklus ke-2 kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar  siswa dalam mata pelajaran pemeliharaan kelistrikan kendaraan ringan khususnya materi sistem AC mengalami peningkatan yang cukup signifikan

Pendekatan ini memberikan peluang bagi individu untuk terus mengembangkan keterampilan dan pengetahuan mereka di luar pendidikan formal, memungkinkan pemerintah meningkatkan kualifikasi tenaga kerja, yang mendukung daya saing ekonomi negara dan menciptakan masyarakat yang lebih terdidik. Bagi pengusaha, Lifelong Learning memastikan tenaga kerja yang terampil dan relevan dengan perkembangan industri, meningkatkan produktivitas dan kemampuan perusahaan untuk beradaptasi dengan perubahan pasar. Penyelenggara pendidikan memainkan peran penting dalam menyusun program pembelajaran yang responsif dan efektif, sedangkan masyarakat secara keseluruhan mendapat manfaat dengan menciptakan lingkungan ekonomi yang stabil, meningkatkan kesetaraan pendidikan, dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup. Investasi dalam pendidikan vokasi non-formal berbasis Lifelong Learning adalah langkah strategis untuk membangun masyarakat yang terampil, berpengetahuan, dan berdaya saing di era yang terus berkembang

    This research presents a study on the implementation of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education in the context of vocational education in the era of independent learning, emphasizing self-directed learning. Through qualitative descriptive methods and literature review analysis, this study highlights the transformation of conventional teaching paradigms into more dynamic, creative approaches focused on developing students' problem-solving skills. The research findings confirm the improvement of students' competencies, including planning, design, reflection, construction, and modification aspects of STEM projects. Another significant discovery is that integrating STEM with other teaching models such as Project-Based Learning (PjBL) or Problem-Based Learning (PBL) effectively enhances students' critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills regardless of gender. In conclusion, the implementation of STEM education not only prepares vocational education students to face the challenges of the 21st century and the era of independent learning but also stimulates students' interest and engagement in learning, promotes inclusivity, and enhances the overall quality of education
