    This article describes the mystery of a long lost codex of Archimedes that resurfaced briefly at the turn of the last century by Johan Ludwig Heiberg. Long enough for the Danish historian of mathematics Heiberg to identify, photograph and eventually transcribe “The Method” and several other works by Archimedes of considerable mathematical interest.     Establishment of a novel in vitro implant infection model: effects of electrical stimulation on staphylococci using alternating current

    An in vitro system for electrical stimulation of cells and bacteria was developed. Stimulation of cells and bacteria can be conducted under similar conditions. Prior to experiments, numerical simulations were performed. Methods for evaluation of effects were established. Stimulation showed significant effects on bacterial growth and biofilm mass production. Following stimulation, changes in extracellular DNA amounts were detected. In co-culture, stimulation led to increased CFU/ml S. epidermidis in supernatants, on and into MG63 cells on electrode surfaces and chamber bottom
