The objective of this project is to identify and adapt the best practices for the identification, specification, and validation of requirements that guide the software implementation and maintenance processes in applications of an electric company. We performed this identification through the study and analysis of the actual state of the topic in Colombia, particularly within electric companies and supported by the theoretical examples of requirements engineering. Both the examples and the methodological models identified as best practices —such as RUP, agile development (focused on Scrum), CMMI, use cases and use cases 2.0, PMI —focused on the management of the scope and stakeholders—, and BABOK support the understanding of this topic. The result is a process that collects models to improve the requirements for new developments and for the handling of change requests and incidents/emergencies, obtaining positive evaluations by expert judgement in a pilot experiment

A wideband frequency multipliers using SiGe bipolar transistors are proposed in this paper. The main circuit of these frequency multipliers consists of an attenuator followed by a bias network and a band pass filter which selects the desired harmonic at the output. The designed doubler can convert a 2–3 GHz input signal to a 4–6 GHz signal, with high suppressions of 59 dB, and 41 dB on the fundamental, and the third harmonic respectively. The tripler can convert a 2.3−2.7 GHz input signal to a 7–8 GHz signal, with suppressions of 68 dB, 52 dB, and 43 dB on the fundamental, the second, and fourth harmonics respectively. This work has been realized thanks to the service provide in the research project “Support and Consulting in the TTC&RF Active Area” from Thales Alenia Space in Spain. Heterologous expression of AtNPR1 gene in olive for increasing fungal tolerance

    Get PDF
The NPR1 gene encodes a key component of SAR signaling mediated by salicylic acid (SA). After a pathogen infection, the accumulation of SA releases NPR1 monomers in the cytosol that are translocated to the nucleus, activating the expression of pathogenesis-related (PR) genes. Overexpression of NPR1 has conferred resistance to fungal, viral and bacterial pathogens in several plant species. The aim of this research was to generate transgenic olive plants expressing the gene AtNPR1 from Arabidopsis thaliana to obtain material resistant to fungal pathogens. Three transgenic lines expressing AtNPR1 gene under the control of the constitutive promoter CaMV35S were obtained following the protocol of Torreblanca et al. (2010), using an embryogenic line derived from a seed of cv. Picual. Level of AtNPR1 expression in transgenic calli varied greatly among the different lines, being higher in the line NPR1-780. The elicitation of embryogenic calli in liquid medium with AS did not increase endochitinase activity, a PR protein. However, jasmonic acid induced a transient increase in chitinase activity after 24 h of treatment in all the lines, being the increment higher in transgenic NPR1 than in control. After maturation and germination of transgenic somatic embryos, plants were micropropagated and acclimated to ex vitro conditions. The expression of AtNPR1 did not alter the growth of transgenic plants neither in vitro nor in the greenhouse. Experiments are in progress to determine the resistance of transgenic AtNPR1 plants to V. dalihae and R. necatrix.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech. Get PDF

“Methodology comparative analysis” in the solar decathlon competition: a proposed housing model based on a prefabricated structural system

    Get PDF
The construction sector, by direct or indirect actions, consumes more than 40% of the global energy produced and is responsible for 30% of CO2 emissions. It is a need of the construction industry to transform its practices and processes by proposing systems of lower demand to the environment. In this sense, closed prefabrication and industrialization as a constructive processcould be the key to seek savings and efficiency from its origin to the end of life of buildings. In this context, this article presents a methodological proposal of quantitative, qualitative and comparative analysis of the structural systems of eight prototypes presented in the “Solar Decathlon” contest in its North-American and Latin-American editions (both of them in 2015) and the European edition (in2014). This methodology deduces the characteristics of a structural system of lower environmental demand and the characteristics of these constructive processes, in favor of a new paradigm of sustainability and to be applied in innovative systems of new housing model

A Longitudinal Study on the Changes in Mental Health of Healthcare Workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic

    Get PDF
Objective: This study examines Argentinean health care workers in order to 1) test self-perceived job performance levels and the presence of psychological symptoms compatible with common mental disorders, and 2) examine within-person changes in general discomfort and psychological distress, adjusting for demographic factors, region, and health-related factors during two time points of the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This longitudinal study comprised 305 healthcare workers who completed a survey at two time points approximately 4 months apart. We used the General Health Questionnaire and the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale to measure mental health outcomes. To address the first aim we calculated differences (Student’s t test for paired samples) and correlations (Pearson’s r coefficient). To address the second aim we used fixed effects model by means of a multilevel approach, a linear model that considers dependency in the data. Results: Self-perceived job performance deteriorated across time. From the first measurement to the four-month follow-up, more health care workers presented common mental disorders (40% vs 45.57%), depression, and/or anxiety (52.46% vs 62.62%). A meaningful worsening of mental health was observed in healthcare workers who expressed concern about being infected with COVID-19, whether asymptomatic (greater general discomfort and psychological distress) or symptomatic (greater general discomfort). Likewise, there were significant interactions between a history of mental disorder and concern about COVID-19 infection. Conclusions: Among healthcare workers, the uncertainty about the COVID-19 infection may have larger negative mental health impacts than actually being infected.publishedVersionFil: López Steinmetz, Lorena Cecilia. Changes in healthcare workers’ anxiety during two time points of the COVID-19 pandemic: Evidence from a longitudinal study

    Get PDF
Evidence on the within-person changes of healthcare workers’ mental health across waves of COVID-19 cases during this pandemic is absent. The aim of this study is to examine the within-person changes of anxiety in Argentinean healthcare workers, adjusting for main demographic factors, region of residence, mental disorder history, and COVID-19 contagion, during the COVID-19 pandemic. A longitudinal web survey (N=305) was conducted during two time points of the pandemic, one of which was an infection peak. Anxiety signifcantly increased across time. However, there were signifcant interaction efects modulating anxiety levels. The largest anxiety increases occurred in healthcare workers who were not sure if they had contracted COVID-19 while symptomatic. Irrespective of the time point, anxiety was the highest in healthcare workers from a region inside the country who were not sure if they had contracted COVID-19, either asymptomatic or symptomatic. An interaction efect between the mental disorder history and the COVID-19 contagion suggested that the anxiety outcomes were mainly due to the concern about the COVID-19 contagion, rather than due to pre-existing mental health vulnerabilities. Regardless of the starting point in anxiety levels, an increasing anxiety outcome may be expected among healthcare workers as the pandemic progresses. The uncertainty regarding COVID-19 contagion is a preventable and modifable interacting factor to produce the worst anxiety outcomes among healthcare workers.draftFil: López Steinmetz, Lorena Cecilia.

    Get PDF
