Constraint on the solar using 4,000 days of short baseline reactor neutrino data
There is a well known 2 tension in the measurements of the solar
between KamLAND and SNO/Super-KamioKANDE. Precise determination of
the solar is especially important in connection with current and
future long baseline CP violation measurements. Reference \cite{Seo:2018rrb}
points out that currently running short baseline reactor neutrino experiments,
Daya Bay and RENO, can also constrain solar value as demonstrated
by a GLoBES simulation with a limited systematic uncertainty consideration. In
this work, the publicly available data, from Daya Bay (1,958 days) and RENO
(2,200 days) are used to constrain the solar . Verification of our
method through and measurements is
discussed in Appendix A. Using this verified method, reasonable constraints on
the solar are obtained using above Daya Bay and RENO data, both
individually and combined. We find that the combined data of Daya Bay and RENO
set an upper limit on the solar of 18 eV at
the 95% C.L., including both systematic and statistical uncertainties. This
constraint is slightly more than twice the KamLAND value. As this combined
result is still statistics limited, even though driven by Daya Bay data, the
constraint will improve with the additional running of this experiment.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures, 2 tables. This paper is a follow up of a Monte
Carlo study reported in arXiv:1808.09150 by two of the authors. The current
paper uses actual data from Daya Bay and RENO that was not previously
available and this is the 1st "combined" result using this new experimental
data. A new figure is added. Some modifications of the tex
Labiatae checklist for Andalusia (Southern Spain) and Rif (Northern Morocco)
. Labiatae checklist for Andalusia (Southern Spain) and the Rif (Northern Morocco). The taxa of Labiatae from Andalusia (Southern Iberian Peninsula) and the Rif (Northern Morocco) are included in a checklist, which has about 262 taxa, belonging to 28 genera and 5 subfamilies, representing almost 25% of total Mediterranean Labiatae taxa and c. 70% of total strict Labiatae Mediterranean genera. Nepetoideae with 17 genera is the richest subfamily; Ajugoideae (Ajuga genus), Teucrioideae (Teucrium genus) and Scutellarioideae (Scutellaria genus) are monogenerics. In this biogeographical region, 23 genera and about 70 species are common to both Andalusia and the Rif (about 88% of all genera and 30% of all taxa). Teucrium, Sideritis Satureja and allied genera, Salvia and Mentha, are the most widespread, representing almost 50% of the total taxa. The importance of the Labiatae family in the Andalusia and the Rif regions is reflected by the fact that they make up c. 20% of all taxa, while 25 of the total number of genera are distributed in the Betic-Rif Mountains. In addition, these mountains, are themselves the richest and best endowed regions of the Andalusia and the Rif, with the greatest concentration of endemic species (c. 65% of total endemisms)

Clostridium Difficile: An Investigation on a Medical Surgical Unit
The objectives for this CNL Internship Project were to: (1) identify the strongest contributors to the rising trend of Clostridium difficile cases on this medical-surgical unit, (2) review all Clostridium difficile cases for correlational factors that are of significant relevance, (3) examine current unit practices and adherence to established policies, and (4) provide recommendations for enhancing existing prevention strategies. The population examined included male adults between 56-83 years old being treated for other medical conditions. The methods used to address this clinical issue included a joint venture between nursing and housekeeping staff to ensure proper terminal cleaning and a renewed emphasis on infection control practices. For this project, a Clostridium difficile monitoring sheet (see Appendix D) was designed for staff to implement the appropriate precautions and cleaning procedures. The data collected will be the monitoring sheets turned in by the staff as well as the ongoing review of any active cases of Clostridium difficile. The project will be launched starting December 2017 and continue for 6 months to allow time for the impact of these changes. The plan will be sustained by the unit’s Infection Control Officer working with the Nurse Manager to ensure continued compliance with the recommended interventions
Biophysical characterization of a chaperone complex involved in macroautophagy
Disruption of this homeostasis network may lead to the onset of pathologies such as cancer or neurodegenerative disorders. Therefore, cells count on several pathways to remove and prevent accumulation and aggregation of potentially toxic proteins, namely the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) and autophagy. Three types of autophagy have been described so far: chaperone-mediated autophagy (CMA), microautophagy and macroautophagy. The chaperone Hsp70 has a central role in all of them. In macroautophagy, Hsp70, in collaboration with other partners (CHIP, Bag3, HspB8), forms a complex that recognizes, ubiquitinates and delivers aggregate-prone proteins towards special locations in cells (aggresomes), for further degradation. This project focuses on the biophysical characterization of the HspB8:Bag3:Hsp70 complex and its components. HspB8, Bag3 and Hsp70 form a stable ternary complex in vitro, which we have studied by different biophysical techniques and also by standard electron microscopy (negative staining) and cryoelectron microscopy (cryoEM). Using cryoelectron tomography, we have analyzed the distribution of the ternary complex in the specimen grids, and have found a tendency of the complex not to distribute evenly within the ice layer, but in a single stratum probably the air-water interface. Using single particle analysis, a low-resolution map has been obtained by negative staining, which combined with crosslinking-mass spectrometry data, has allowed us to build a pseudo-atomic model of the ternary complex. Additionally, we have obtained by cryoEM a low-resolution 3D map where only the atomic models of Hsp70SBD and BAG:Hsp70NBD could be accommodated. The model supports the previously described bimodal character of the Bag3:Hsp70 interaction
