    Simulation of heat transfer in 2D porous tank in appearance of magnetic nanofluid

    In current two dimensional nanomaterial convective flow, Lorentz force has been utilized to manage the flow pattern. Nano sized powders with homogeneous behavior were dispersed into H2O within a permeable media. Not only the buoyancy force but also the radiation affects the temperature distribution. In addition, nanoparticles’ shape was involved in correlation of estimating nanomaterial behavior. Result demonstrated that convective flow augments with both Rayleigh and Darcy number and lessen with respect to Hartman number. Augmenting Darcy number wills leads to reduce the effect of Lorentz forces. Nuave augment with thermal radiation Rd and decrease with Hartmann number Ha. Thinner boundary layer is an output of augmenting permeability

    Inflammation-induced DNA damage and damage-induced inflammation: a vicious cycle

    Inflammation is the ultimate response to the constant challenges of the immune system by microbes, irritants or injury. The inflammatory cascade initiates with the recognition of microorganism-derived pathogen associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and host cell-derived damage associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) by the pattern recognition receptors (PRRs). DNA as a molecular PAMP or DAMP is sensed directly or via specific binding proteins to instigate pro-inflammatory response. Some of these DNA binding proteins also participate in canonical DNA repair pathways and recognise damaged DNA to initiate DNA damage response.     Genetic variants in mannose receptor gene (MRC1) confer susceptibility to increased risk of sarcoidosis

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Mannose receptor (MR) is a member of the C-type lectin receptor family involved in pathogen molecular-pattern recognition and thought to be critical in shaping host immune response. The aim of this study was to investigate potential associations of genetic variants in the <it>MRC1 </it>gene with sarcoidosis.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Nine single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), encompassing the <it>MRC1 </it>gene, were genotyped in a total of 605 Japanese consisting of 181 sarcoidosis patients and 424 healthy controls.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Suggestive evidence of association between rs691005 SNP and risk of sarcoidosis was observed independent of sex and age in a recessive model (<it>P </it>= 0.001).</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>These results suggest that <it>MRC1 </it>is an important candidate gene for sarcoidosis. This is the first study to imply that genetic variants in <it>MRC1</it>, a major member of the C-type lectin, contribute to the development of sarcoidosis.</p

    Translation and psychometric testing of the Farsi version of the Seattle angina questionnaire

    Abstract Background Angina pectoris causes substantial psychological and functional disabilities and adversely effects quality of life in patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties including validity and reliability of the Farsi version of the Seattle angina questionnaire. Methods The ‘forward-backward’ procedure was applied to translate this questionnaire from English to Farsi. The translated version of the Seattle angina questionnaire was assessed in terms of validity and reliability with a convenience sample of 200 patients suffering from angina pectoris who were recruited from the inpatient ward (post CCU) and outpatient department at two teaching hospitals in an urban area of Iran. Validity was assessed using content, face and construct validity. The calculation of the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and the test-retest method helped with the assessment of reliability of the questionnaire’s five subscales. Construct validity of the questionnaire was evaluated using exploratory factor analysis. Results The results of exploratory factor analysis indicated a five-factor solution for the questionnaire including ‘physical limitation in middle to strenuous activities’, ‘physical limitation in slight activities’, ‘angina pattern and discomfort of treatment’, ‘treatment satisfaction’ and ‘disease perception’ that jointly accounted for 64.42% of variance observed. Convergent validity was mostly supported by the pattern of association between the Seattle angina questionnaire-Farsi version and the SF-36. Cronbach’s alpha of the subscales ranged from 0.60 to 0.86 and test-retest scores ranged from 0.79 to 0.97 indicating a good range of reliability. Conclusions The Seattle angina questionnaire-Farsi version had acceptable psychometric properties. Therefore, it can be used to assess health-related quality of life and assess the effects of different medical and nursing interventions on patients’ quality of life
