Transmit Beamforming with Reduced Channel Information in OFDM Based Wireless Systems
In this paper, we consider transmit beamforming that works with reduced channel state information in OFDM based multiple-input single-output (MISO) wireless systems. The proposed scheme significantly reduces the amount of feedback signaling burden by generating beamforming weights using information on the previous beamforming weights and channel correlation. The feedback signaling overhead is further reduced with the use of clustering and interpolation techniques. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms conventional beamforming techniques, while using the same amount of feedback signaling overhead.Seoul R&BD Progra
Barrier protection via Toll-like receptor 2 signaling in porcine intestinal epithelial cells damaged by deoxynivalnol
Additional file 2. IPEC-J2 cells pretreated with TLR2 ligand maintained the expression of MCP-1, GM-CSF and TLR2 against DON exposure. IPEC-J2 cells pretreated with or without TLR2 ligand for 24 h were exposed to DON. (A) The bar graph showed the mRNA levels of porcine mcp-1, gm-csf measured using real time-PCR at 1 and 6 h after DON exposure (n = 3). (B) The mRNA levels of porcine tlr2 were measured using real-time quantitative PCR analysis at 6 h. NT represents no treatment. Expression of each mRNA was presented relative to the expression of housekeeping gene, gapdh (n = 3). *P < 0.05; **P < 0.01; ***P < 0.001, determined by one-way ANOVA with Tukey’s posttest
Accidental intradural injection during attempted epidural block -A case report-
Several cases of accidental subdural injection have been reported, but only few of them are known to be accidental intradural injection during epidural block. Therefore we would like to report our experience of accidental intradural injection. A 68-year-old female was referred to our pain clinic due to severe metastatic spinal pain. We performed a diagnostic epidural injection at T9/10 interspace under the C-arm guided X-ray view. Unlike the usual process of block, onset was delayed and sensory dermatomes were irregular range. We found out a dense collection of localized radio-opaque contrast media on the reviewed X-ray findings. These are characteristic of intradural injection and clearly different from the narrow wispy bands of contrast in the subdural space

Biodegradable, flexible silicon nanomembrane-based NO x gas sensor system with record-high performance for transient environmental monitors and medical implants
Abstract: A novel transient electronics technology that is capable of completely dissolving or decomposing in certain conditions after a period of operation offers unprecedented opportunities for medical implants, environmental sensors, and other applications. Here, we describe a biodegradable, flexible silicon-based electronic system that detects NO species with a record-breaking sensitivity of 136 Rs (5 ppm, NO2) and 100-fold selectivity for NO species over other substances with a fast response (~30 s) and recovery (~60 s). The exceptional features primarily depend on not only materials, dimensions, and design layouts but also temperatures and electrical operations. Large-scale sensor arrays in a mechanically pliable configuration exhibit negligible deterioration in performance under various modes of applied loads, consistent with mechanics modeling. In vitro evaluations demonstrate the capability and stability of integrated NOx devices in severe wet environments for biomedical applications
The Associations between Bridal Pregnancy and Obstetric Outcomes among Live Births in Korea: Population-Based Study
Objective: In East Asia the recently increased number of marriages in response to pregnancy is an important social issue. This study evaluated the association of marriage preceded by pregnancy (bridal pregnancy) with obstetric outcomes among live births in Korea. Methods: In this population-based study, 1,152,593 first singleton births were evaluated from data registered in the national birth registration database from 2004 to 2008 in Korea. In the study population, the pregnancy outcomes among live births from the bridal pregnancy group (N = 62,590) were compared with the outcomes of the post-marital pregnancy group (N = 564,749), composed of women who gave birth after 10 months but before 24 months of marriage. The variables preterm birth (PTB; = 40 years. After the multivariate analysis, the aORs for each age group were 1.47 (95% CI: 1.15-1.89), 1.76 (1.70-1.83), and 1.13 (0.77-1.66), respectively, for PTB and 0.92 (0.70-1.21), 1.60 (1.53-1.66), and 1.11 (0.71-1.74), respectively, for LBW. In the adjusted logistic regression models, bridal pregnancy was associated with PTB (1.76, 1.69-1.82) and LBW (1.53, 1.48-1.59).Conclusion: Pregnancy outcomes among live births from bridal pregnancies are associated with higher risks for PTB and LBW in Korea.OAIID:oai:osos.snu.ac.kr:snu2014-01/102/0000052039/12SEQ:12PERF_CD:SNU2014-01EVAL_ITEM_CD:102USER_ID:0000052039ADJUST_YN:YEMP_ID:A079543DEPT_CD:806CITE_RATE:3.534FILENAME:the associations between bridal pregnancy and obstetric outcomes among live births in korea, population-based study.pdfDEPT_NM:의과학과SCOPUS_YN:YCONFIRM:
Maturation of bone marrow-derived dendritic cells by a novel β-glucan purified from Paenibacillus polymyxa JB115
We investigated the immunostimulatory effects of a novel β-glucan purified from Paenibacillus (P.) polymyxa JB115 on bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (DCs), a type of potent antigen-presenting cells. β-glucan isolated from P. polymyxa JB115 enhanced the viability and induced the maturation of DCs. β-glucan markedly increased the cytokine production of DCs and surface expression of DC markers. In addition, DCs treated with β-glucan showed a higher capacity to stimulate allogeneic spleen cell proliferation compared to those treated with medium alone. These results demonstrate the effect of β-glucan on DC maturation and may increase the use of β-glucan
