Massless geodesics in as a superintegrable system
A Carter like constant for the geodesic motion in the
Einstein-Sasaki geometries is presented. This constant is functionally
independent with respect to the five known constants for the geometry. Since
the geometry is five dimensional and the number of independent constants of
motion is at least six, the geodesic equations are superintegrable. We point
out that this result applies to the configuration of massless geodesic in
studied by Benvenuti and Kruczenski, which are matched to
long BPS operators in the dual N=1 supersymmetric gauge theory.Comment: 20 pages, no figures. Small misprint is corrected in the Killing-Yano
tensor. No change in any result or conclusion
Developments for a scintillator tile sampling hadron calorimeter with 'longitudinal' tile configuration
In a scintillation tile calorimeter with wavelength shifting fiber readout significant simplifications of the construction and the assembly are possible if the tiles are oriented "longitudinally", i.e. in r-phi plane for a barrel configuration. For a hybrid calorimeter consisting of a scintillator tile hadron compartment and a sufficiently containing LAr EM compartment, as proposed for the ATLAS detector, good jet resolution is predicted by simulations. The aim of the proposal is to construct a test module and to check the simulation results by test beam measurements. Several component tests and further simulations and engineering studies are needed to optimize the design of a large calorimeter structure
Recent results on J/Ï from experiment NA50
The J/ production in Pb-Pb interactions induced by 158 GeV/c incident Pb ions is studied as a function of centrality, as estimated from the neutral transverse energy or, alternatively, from the very forward hadronic energy of the collision. The J/ yield exhibits a similar pattern with a first drop for mid-peripheral collisions and a steady decrease for the most central reactions. Conventional hadronic models axe unable to fairly reproduce this trend which finds a natural explanation in a deconfined quark-gluon phase scenario. The J/ transverse momentum distributions and their dependence with centrality are also reviewed in this presentation. (20 refs)
