Bosonization Theory of Excitons in One-dimensional Narrow Gap Semiconductors
Excitons in one-dimensional narrow gap semiconductors of anti-crossing
quantum Hall edge states are investigated using a bosonization method. The
excitonic states are studied by mapping the problem into a non-integrable
sine-Gordon type model. We also find that many-body interactions lead to a
strong enhancement of the band gap. We have estimated when an exciton

Darboux Transformations for a Lax Integrable System in -Dimensions
A -dimensional Lax integrable system is proposed by a set of specific
spectral problems. It contains Takasaki equations, the self-dual Yang-Mills
equations and its integrable hierarchy as examples. An explicit formulation of
Darboux transformations is established for this Lax integrable system. The
Vandermonde and generalized Cauchy determinant formulas lead to a description
for deriving explicit solutions and thus some rational and analytic solutions

Modelling environmental changes and effects on wild-caught species in Queensland. Environmental drivers.
We report on the findings of a collaborative research project that was designed to identify and measure the effects of environmental drivers on the abundance and population dynamics of key Queensland fishery species. The project was co-funded by the Commonwealth Governmentâs Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) and carried out by a multi-disciplinary team of scientists from the University of Queensland (UQ), the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) and the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS). The research team applied modern statistical, data science and modelling techniques in combination with biological insights into the life cycles of the three target species.
Background
With increasing evidence that environmental conditions in the marine environment are changing rapidly, it is becoming ever more important to understand how these changes may impact on the population dynamics and abundance of important fish stocks. Understanding the influence of environmental conditions can provide greater certainty that the risk of overfishing (under adverse environmental conditions) or under harvesting (under favourable conditions) are accounted for by resource managers.
This project aimed to identify the environmental factors which may be influencing the recruitment, catchability or productivity of Snapper, Pearl Perch, and Spanner Crab stocks in Queensland. Results from this work will support sustainable management of Queenslandâs fisheries by directly informing the assessment and management of these key species within Queensland waters
Single gluino production in the R-parity lepton number violating MSSM at the LHC
We examine the -violating signal of single gluino production
associated with a charged lepton or neutrino at the large hadron collider
(LHC), in the model of R-parity relaxed supersymmetric model. If the parameters
in the supersymmetric interactions are not too small, and the
mass of gluino is considered in the range from several GeV (as the Lightest
Supersymmetric Particle) to 800 GeV, the cross section of the single gluino
production via Drell-Yan processes can be in the order of
femto barn, and that via gluon fusion in the order of femto
barn. If the gluino decay can be well detected in the CERN LHC, this process
provides a prospective way to probe supersymmetry and violation.Comment: LaTex, 22 pages, 5 EPS file
Pseudoscalar Higgs boson production associated with a single bottom quark at hadron colliders
We compute the complete next-to-leading order (NLO) SUSY-QCD corrections for
the associated production of a pseudoscalar Higgs boson with a bottom quark via
bottom-gluon fusion at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Fermilab
Tevatron. We find that the NLO QCD correction in the MSSM reaches
at the LHC and at the Tevatron in our chosen parameter space
-Expansion of the Conductivity at the Superconductor-Mott Insulator Transition
We study the critical behavior of the conductivity at the
zero temperature superconductor-Mott insulator transition in space-time
dimensions for a model of bosons with short-range interaction and no disorder.
We obtain , as predicted by the scaling theory, and the prefactor
is calculated in the -expansion, to order
(). In two spatial dimensions, (), we find a
value of the universal conductance , in good
agreement with the known Monte Carlo results.Comment: 8 pages REVTE
CP violation in in the model III 2HDM
We have calculated the Wilson coefficients (i=1,2) in the
renormalization scheme in the model III 2HDM. Using the obtained
Wilson coefficients, we have analyzed the CP violation in decays (q=d,s) in the model. The CP asymmetry, , depends on the
parameters of models and in can be as large as 40% and
35% for and respectively. It can reach 4% for decays.
Because in SM CP violation is smaller than or equal to O() which is
unobservably small, an observation of CP asymmetry in the decays would unambiguously signal the existence of new physics.Comment: revtex4, 16 pages, 7 figure
Proteogenomic analysis of human colon cancer reveals new therapeutic opportunities
We performed the first proteogenomic study on a prospectively collected colon cancer cohort. Comparative proteomic and phosphoproteomic analysis of paired tumor and normal adjacent tissues produced a catalog of colon cancer-associated proteins and phosphosites, including known and putative new biomarkers, drug targets, and cancer/testis antigens. Proteogenomic integration not only prioritized genomically inferred targets, such as copy-number drivers and mutation-derived neoantigens, but also yielded novel findings. Phosphoproteomics data associated Rb phosphorylation with increased proliferation and decreased apoptosis in colon cancer, which explains why this classical tumor suppressor is amplified in colon tumors and suggests a rationale for targeting Rb phosphorylation in colon cancer. Proteomics identified an association between decreased CD8 T cell infiltration and increased glycolysis in microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) tumors, suggesting glycolysis as a potential target to overcome the resistance of MSI-H tumors to immune checkpoint blockade. Standalone vertex ďŹnding in the ATLAS muon spectrometer
A dedicated reconstruction algorithm to find decay vertices in the ATLAS muon spectrometer is presented. The algorithm searches the region just upstream of or inside the muon spectrometer volume for multi-particle vertices that originate from the decay of particles with long decay paths. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated using both a sample of simulated Higgs boson events, in which the Higgs boson decays to long-lived neutral particles that in turn decay to bbar b final states, and pp collision data at âs = 7 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC during 2011
