This study aims to obtain empirical evidence on strengthening social competence (Islamic Studies subjects; Arabic script) through the independent learning of reciprocal teaching models with a metacognitive approach. The population in this study was the fifth-grade students of SD Mujahidin Pontianak City. While the sample was taken randomly from two classes from 5A and 5C to class 5 students. One class received Reciprocal Teaching (RT) model learning with a metacognitive approach as an experimental group and one class received regular learning as a control group. The instruments used in this study consisted of three types of instruments, namely: (1) observation sheets, (2) students' independent learning scales, and (3) learning outcomes tests on Islamic Education subjects. Based on the data analysis in this study, the process of strengthening social competence through student learning independence in the subject of Islamic Religious Education uses the reciprocal teaching model with a metacognitive approach practiced at SD Mujahidin Pontianak can be seen from the main component of learning (core competence). Efforts to strengthen social competence through independence can be designed through a Reciprocal Teaching model with a metacognitive approach gradually and intact. The first process starts with the development of the lesson plan as an operational design in the practice of Islamic Education learning. Development of learning components in the lesson plan, namely materials, methods, media, sources, and evaluation that are more creative, innovative. The teaching of teaching materials as a whole, which includes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor teaching materials. Second, there are differences in strengthening social competence through independent learning between students learning Islamic education using the reciprocal teaching model with a metacognitive approach and students learning Islamic education using ordinary learning models. The independent learning of students in Islamic Religious Education in the group that received reciprocal teaching model learning with a metacognitive approach was better than the control group

This article details an autoethnography project of our odysseys into the pedagogy of unlearning racism. Our know ledge creation process forced us to re-envision both our locations in, and pedagogy of, anti-racism work, with particular attention to the challenges and dangers of teaching about, to, and from White privilege within social work. In the end, we are both troubled and invigorated by what we experienced, witnessed, and supported. By asking people of color to share their personal narratives of racism in the presence of Whites, teachers, facilitators, and diversity trainers stand to continue privileging Whiteness where Whites benefit and learn at the expense of people of color

The research result expected to be the aid that can help teens be wiser in social media utilization and exploitation. Keywords: Personality Disorder, Infographic, Social Medi

Mutations in Epigenetic Modifiers in Myeloid Malignancies and the Prospect of Novel Epigenetic-Targeted Therapy

    Get PDF
In the recent years, the discovery of a series of mutations in patients with myeloid malignancies has provided insight into the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDSs), myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Among these alterations have been mutations in genes, such as IDH1/2, TET2, DNMT3A, and EZH2, which appear to affect DNA and/or histone lysine methylation. Large clinical correlative studies are beginning to decipher the clinical importance, prevalence, and potential prognostic significance of these mutations. Additionally, burgeoning insight into the role of epigenetics in the pathogenesis of myeloid malignancies has prompted increased interest in development of novel therapies which target DNA and histone posttranslational modifications. DNA demethylating agents have been demonstrated to be clinically active in a subset of patients with MDS and AML and are used extensively. However, newer, more specific agents which alter DNA and histone modification are under preclinical study and development and are likely to expand our therapeutic options for these diseases in the near future. Here, we review the current understanding of the clinical importance of these newly discovered mutations in AML and MDS patients. We also discuss exciting developments in DNA methyltransferase inhibitor strategies and the prospect of novel histone lysine methyltransferase inhibitors

Non-Peer ReviewedSince 1987, research was conducted at the Saskatchewan Irrigation Development Centre (SIDC), Outlook, to develop technology suitable for irrigated lentil (Lens culinaris Medikus) production. Diverse germplasm and various management practices were evaluated. Under irrigation, Eston, CDC Richlea, and Rose lentil produced higher seed yield than Laird. Supplemental irrigation of Eston produced marked yield increases in the low rainfall years. For example, in 1988 which received 95 mm (3.8 in) of precipitation during the growing season, addition of 130 mm (5.1 in) and 225 mm (8.9 in) of water produced approximately a 5-6 fold yield advantage. Excessive irrigation in wet years or at flowering reduced yield, likely through excessive vegetative growth and increased disease incidence. Under excess moisture conditions, Eston and Laird were more susceptible to diseases than CDC Richlea, or 458-57. Seeding rates (100 plants/m2, i.e. 9-10 plants/ft2) and row-spacing (20 em, i.e. 8 in) recommended for dryland production appeared suitable for irrigation although in one year, positive yield responses were obtained up to a population density of 175 plant/m2

During the development of production, it is necessary to select varieties that are suitable for dryland. This study aimed to determine the adaptation of superior sugarcane varieties on dryland. This study used a split-plot under repeated Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Six superior sugarcane varieties used in this research were Saccharum ‘CMG Agribun ’, Saccharum ‘AAS Agribun’, Saccharum ʻASA Agribunʼ, Saccharum ʻAMS Agribunʻ, Saccharum ʻPS864ʼ and Saccharum ‘Bululawang’. The variables observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of segments, and number of tillers at the age of 13, 15, and 17 WAP (weeks after planting). The results showed that growth parameters, namely plant height at 13 and 15 WAP, number of tillers at 15 and 17 WAP, and stem diameter at 13 and 15 WAP, showed better growth, indicating superior agronomic properties of a sugarcane variety on dryland. Saccharum ‘AMS Agribun’ and Saccharum ‘Bululawang’ varieties, stem diameter, increased with spacing treatment at the early growth of 17 weeks after planting. The Saccharum ‘PS864’ was the best, having the highest average of agronomic values compared to other varieties. The Saccharum ‘PS864’ had the highest plant height and number of internodes. The highest number of tillers was obtained in the Saccharum ‘AAS Agribun’ varieties

Thermal wave resonant cavity technique in measuring thermal diffusivity of sucrose solution

    Get PDF
The thermal-wave resonant cavity technique has been used to measure thermal diffusivity of sucrose solution with precision up to three-significant-figure. The thermal diffusivity of the solution decreases linearly with the increase of sucrose weight percentage and agrees to the simple mixture rule in the range up to a saturated point. Also the solution thermal diffusivity varies linearly with square FWHM. The thermal diffusivity value of water is very close to the literature value
